What is the point of no return on having a garbage game?

I took Vlad mid in normals the other night because I'm learning Vlad and I currently enjoy playing him. I got absolutely murdered by a Zed before the laning phase was over. I was playing with friends, and they were all doing well, so I just stuck it out and we ended up winning, I even managed to put my KDA back into something that looked respectable.

What is the point of getting dumped on where it's too far. In my case, I wasn't throwing, and it might have looked like it from the non-queued up players. So where's the line for you?

That might vary on a champ to champ basis. Vlad is much stronger in the late game, so having a bad laning phase may not be as problematic, if the rest of your team can insure the enemy doesn't snowball too hard.

Personally, while I always play to win, I usually don't throw in the towel unless the game stops being fun.

I think it comes from team morale. If every lane lost and the jungler is having a circle jerk at raptors, the team will have no hope. If one or two people are doing well, at least the team sees potential to win. The hardest thing to come back from is when every lane lost and the enemy groups and storms your base while no one can actually defend.
