Mages can't have good items because of Fizz, Diana and Katarina

(In comparison with AD items) Because Riot sees these champs being spammed and goes "mages are fine", rather then there being next to no viable mage champions at the moment apart from super tanky pics like Vlad. Any time a new mage item gets developed, these three badly designed and cancerous champs abuse the hell out of it and get it nerfed into oblivion. Its these champions that are the problem Riot, not the items and are the solid reason why mages cannot have good things.

remember pre nerf item 3152 ?

it was supposed to be a mage item,but since assassins were abusing it they just made it a cheap assassin item

Isn't this item like only exclusively built by Annie and Lissandra now?

Afaik it's never been much of an Assassin item except for when it was overtuned on EVERYONE. Despite it's supposed varied use, it has been an Annie exclusive item.

Ekko, Diana, Vlad and Fizz all build it. Annie needs it as she has no mobility so it adds not only wave clear but the dash she needs to get her Tibbers off. Ekko, Diana and Fizz have dashes but build it because it makes them even more mobile and even more waveclear, Vlad because of his passive. Plus it costs the same as a support items pretty much.

It's also a great item on Fiddlesticks : it lets him clear whole waves (which he has problems with, especially the larger ones), adds range to his Q for some catch potential, and adds some damage after ulting.

(Once I was able to burst down 2 enemy champions with just E+ item 3152 ... I did it for fun, because we were winning; didn't expect to survive that encounter, and definitely didn't expect to pick up an easy instant double kill).

But we do have a type of spellvamp that Vlad cannot use: item 3010 's passive! The problem actually is: do we really want more healing in this game, knowing that it would make dps weaker and burst damage even more important?

Traditional mages and their state at any given moment is not necessarily due to their items, but to the strength of their counterpicks (assassins or tanks) and the weakness of their primary targets (squishy supports and marksmen).

It's A) not always in Riot's best interest to have mages be in a good spot and B) not always the right choice to simply buff who is struggling instead of nerfing who is oppressing.

Fizz Diana (and Kassadin Leblanc Akali Ekko Nidalee etc...) don't even have their own item pool. The only real AP "assassin" item that's available for purchase is item 3100 . I guess you could count item 3146 , but it's only really viable on Akali and Katarina. The AP item rework a few months ago did nearly nothing to give different groups of AP champions their own items.

No, (dedicated, melee) AP assassins can't have good items because Ahri Annie Leblanc Lissandra Syndra Viktor Vladimir Zoe abuse them to 1-shot before they're supposed to.
