Strange consequence of NEW CHAMP SELECT (Not related to Dynamic Queue)

I just realized when responding to someone else.... back before NEW CHAMP SELECT (Not related to Dynamic Queue) when fighting over roles occurred even in Diamond brackets,** the person that was willing to play support was more often thanked and appreciated** than the current system where it is automated.

Having that one guy (I almost wrote "Having that one gay", lol... well I did play a lot of Taric back then, HUEHUEHUEHUE) that said "Don't worry guys, I got support" was a relief and (in my experience) most people were glad to see that in chat.

Nowadays because its automated, support isn't as appreciated because "You're supposed to play support", it's like the merit of playing support was reduced....

This is alongside the broken NEW CHAMP SELECT that refuses to let you secondary-support (It will almost always default you to support even if you put secondary support) effed it up even more but that's another thread.

Has anyone noticed this phenomenon? Did we accidentally diminish the appreciation support players received? I didn't main support but it was my secondary, and even if I didn't do that great, people loved it when I would say "Alright, I'll let you (Last pick) jungle and I'll take support, just do your best".... do you remember that? those of you that played support semi-often.

That was something NEW CHAMP SELECT took away from us support players. It is NOT Riot's fault, it is NOT wrong, it is just a consequence of automating the system.
