Brand has a high skill ceiling. His problem lies elsewhere entirely.

You think I'm joking, but it's true. He has lots of different combos he can set his abilities up with in order to properly fit the situation. Q-E-W is for wave clear. E-Q-W is for a high-risk-high-damage assassination. W-Q-E is for when he needs to safely kite in teamfights. Champions whose abilities can actually combo with each other will always have an interesting level of depth to them.

What is Brand's TRUE problem, then? Well, it's simple. Brand has something that takes away all skill requirement. This is something that blurs the line between a brain-dead first-time Brand player and an actually skilled Brand veteran. It makes any bad Brand good and rewards even the most poorly executed plays. Can you guess what it is?

#It's his dumbass ult.

Now, don't get me wrong. It's a nice ultimate! Personally, when I think of fire, the first thing that pops into my head is always Orange Flubber. But his problem is how exactly his ult works with synergy to his passive, Blaze.

Brand has two point-and-click abilities. His E and his R. His E is just a weakass little Tee Hee of a thing which he only uses as a tool to buff his other abilities. It does low damage, it has low range, it can be used effectively for waveclear. and everything is nice and balanced! His R, on the other hand, is just a toxic mess. Most people who play Brand are what I like to call "R-Lobbers." They'll just walk up to you, MISS their Q and W, lay an E and R down, and then walk away. Since the R slows you, and you're 90% likely to be near a minion, monster or champion, that cheap ult will almost guaranteed fully stack Blaze on you. That's just plain dumb and unfair, and that's the only reason why bad Brand players do well in teamfights. They're all R-lobbers.

So basically, that's cancer, and I have a couple ideas on how to fix it.

  1. Don't let his ult stack Blaze so easily. Give it some conditions. Like...
  2. It'll apply one stack of Blaze to an enemy champion that currently stands within the blast radius of a timed Detonation. You know, the circle thingy. Or,
  3. If it bounces off a champion or monster with 3 stacks of Blaze, the next target it lands on will receive 2 stacks of Blaze.

Just on a side note, I'd also think Brand's ult should only have 3 hits instead of 5, but gain an additional bounce every time it's within the blast radius of a timed Detonation. Those are just my ideas. Agree or disagree with the changes, but it's an unequivocal truth that Brand's training wheels are way too strong and need to be reworked to reward skilled players.

I want Brand to stay top tier so my Velkoz support can stay relatively unpicked.

I've always had a problem with brand, not because of his ultimate, or losing a 1/3 of my health level one as I'm chugging pots, but because of his low ability to roam and being forced as a dps support he's rewarded perks and pushed as a champion for new comers. I mean every game has their dps mage I'm not even trying and I have most dps hur dur but he shouldn't be as safe as he is. With the ability to stun at at a range of 900 I believe even if you flash you can still get stunned. A lot of champs like Nocturne has to wait tethering you to get his fear. Kennen's ult takes an entire 3 seconds, but will do minimal damage if he can't hold you in it which is hard. Heimerdinger W ult, Fiddlesticks ult's most the time they aren't getting the full duration. Even if that were lowered, it won't solve his be cancerous, or be useless, but giving him an option of roaming well removing his dominance over a lane if it be like those champs listed are, will make you a better player, limiting a players option doesn't. The higher you go the less brands, as a support if great at roaming your not stacking spell thief procs as much your not deep warding, or counter ganking. The lower the more prevalent as your focused on less task at hand.

TLDR he needs some option of roaming, but lose dominance in lane so he has a reason to roam.

How about 3 bounces, but up to 5 on ablaze champions, and only stacks blaze on the first and last hit

Or rather bounces 3 times and stacks blaze on the first hit, then if the last hit is an ablaze champion it will bounce twice more and blaze the final hit
