Because 3 out of 4 of Kayn's abilities involve movement. Which grounding disables.

those are movement skills aswell though, kayns E is just a movespeed buff that allows him to ignore walls

which was brought into being by coding it as a stream of constant, minute dashes. Which are stopped by grounding.

His Q has a Dash, and his Ult has a Blink. But his other 2 spells have none of those.

Unless it has something to do with his E's ability to go through walls.[sg-lux-2]

also ornn's wall smash is fun against him, building a counter kayn team is pretty easy(ornn, cass, blitz(can you pull out of wall?), cait (walls dont save you from her ult) and singed(ornn or singed jg)...that said that comp seems nasty anyway.
