How many points do I need to get an S in ascension...

Man... I just had a game as Irelia with 74 points and I still only got an A+... what gives?

Next highest was a 41 point Trundle on the enemy team, then a 40 point Vi and 36 point Veigar on my team. I personally secured all 3 ascension kills.

Was practically certain I'd have an S+ going in to the end game screen (I had gotten an S+ on Maokai last time with a 66 point game and similar KDA)... but only an A+...

Disappointed.

Had to go as far as play Fizz, a champion I don't main, nor do I need to main to do good. (I dare you to tell me otherwise).

Managed to get an S with 17/8/11 score and 72 points.

It gave me an S-, but still an S.

Right now I'm tired from tryharding in that game mode, but on the bright side, I won Sweetheart Sona in that S ranked chest, so it was so worth all the hard work.

Got an S this game: http://matchhistory.na.leagueoflegends.com/en/#match-details/NA1/2186859920/205363278?tab=overview

Just as it takes more then KDA on SR, it takes more then just points in Accension. You have to do well with other things (for instance, I got first blood, stole Accension, and went on several killing sprees)

I'm aware of that, but I honestly think in some games (especially in games where there's a clear objective and clear measurement of how much you contributed to it) exceptional scores should warrant the S grade on their own.

I mean, I played about 20-25 games of ascension last time. I went on a 17 game win streak with Maokai that time. I got an S+ and two S-'s in that streak, and the highest score I got was a 66. In all of the games I played, I had never seen a score higher than that 66 (which was an S+) and the next highest I'd seen was my own 61 (an S-). So 74 outright destroyed the highest score I'd ever seen. I've got two people posting here now showing me scores over 70 (your 73 and the Fizz's 72), but I've still never seen anyone top 74. In a 5v5 game where the average score on the winning side should be 40, a good game is 50, a great game is 60, and 70+ should practically guarantee an S+. I wouldn't be here if I only got an S- though, I only got an A+. With a score of 74, nearly the combined score of the next two highest scoring players in the game. There were 3 ascensions, I secured ALL 3. I also got first blood. I had the largest killing spree in the game (6). I had the fewest deaths (10) despite no healers on my team (enemy had a sona). I had the second highest damage dealt to champions (after Vi) and the second highest total damage dealt (after enemy Gangplank) (they both build damage, I built triforce into tank) and had the highest damage taken on my team.

It's not like I scored 74 by stealing ascension with Lux ult each time, and ran around hiding and taking shrines. As I mentioned, I've had 3 S scores in ascension with Maokai, probably the strongest champion in the game mode (as I also mentioned, 17 game win streak on him last time), so I feel like I knew what an S score took. I did it there. I did an S+ performance. I just only got an A+.

Actually, in closer comparison to your game: I had 4 fewer kills and 1 fewer death, did more damage to champions (you were a high-poke Jayce with full damage vs my melee tank irelia), went 3/3 on ascensions compared to your 3/5 (one of which you let the enemy team get), outscored you 74 to 73, and did all of that in 3 LESS minutes of game time (my game 17:40, yours 20:39). I had a triple kill (your best was a double). What you had on me? Your longest kill streak had 7 kills to my 6. Full stop. Well, I guess you also had more gold, but that's because gold is fixed on game time.

Did I play perfectly? No. I'd understand if I got an S. I'd not complain if I got an S- (although I'd still be surprised). An A+ though? I just don't get it. There's no sense to it. Unless the average Irelia player is getting 60+ points per game, that's a broken system.

How many times you ascend seems to play a role. Not only that, ascending also gives you an easy opportunity for kills, kill streaks, points, and going a long time without dying if your champ has some kind of sustain.

I've found that all the games I've gotten an S rank on, I've ascended at least once, mostly two or more times in a single match. I also didn't just die thirty seconds later and lose the buff, but kept it for quite a while by moving with my team. Safety in numbers and all that. So my biggest tip: Get ascended and stay ascended. And when you stop being ascended, become ascended again ASAP.

That's pretty stupid. You don't even choose to get ascended, it's pretty much random. That is unless you're playing a stupid champion like Irelia, who can solo the Ascendant in like 5 seconds.

That post was written five months ago. Back then, whoever last hit Xerath got the ascended buff. It wasn't the horrible "everyone gather in the circle and hope it chooses you" thing it is now.
