Remove Spellthief's Edge

Firstly: I didn't spend much time thinking through all the problems that this would cause, so feel free to discuss them.

This is kind of a radical idea, but I think players should be rewarded for actually being team players and bringing a support champion bot. Not for simply bringing more damage because they didn't get assigned Mid.

Especially considering that Spellthief's functionality had to absolutely destroyed just so those champions don't get too far ahead, maybe it shouldn't be an option to do so at all.

Then champions like Brand, Zyra, and Lux can be entirely balanced around going mid lane instead, and ADC's won't have to worry that they won't actually get a support just because someone didn't feel like picking a support.

Then coin could be adjusted accordingly so that mages don't abuse it but enchanters who take spellthief's don't get unfairly nerfed just because a different class is abusing their item.

When i pikc velkoz support i actualy provide a number of things to my team that ur glorified shieldbots cant do like killing the adc/support by myself making the lane a freelo to my adc, having me on bot as well helps securing more drakes whit my team if not im stealing it alone. I peel like for real i can peel and harash the enemy out of the lane making it pretty much 1st tower gold sry for that too. Better teamfight if not better but only average i still bring a noticable damage source outside of the expected carries wich again pulls agro off the other carries if the enemy focuses me wich is not a thing i allow often considering i can peel into an all in and again win.

In the name of all the other decent ap supports out there i can say for sure ur idea makes no sense and has no solid balance behind it and its fairly biased against any champ who plays whit frostfang.

Funny enough brand got nerfed because he's mainly played support now and the damage he did was too much for a support.

Besides, not only mage supports take spellthief... Enchanters take them too. And bard. So the argument around removing mid laners from bot is irellevant because it's not used only by mid laners.

Lux zyra and brand found their way bot because they have strong early game and because they have strong cc and zoning capabilities to deny the enemy adc of farm.

The thing is, Sona and Bard were unfairly hurt the by change in spellthief's function (since it now doesn't count hitting two champions with the same spell as 2 hits, but both of them are supposed to benefit from doing so). They should get compensation already, but getting an item that doesn't handicap them because of mages would be fine too.

honestly for bard it hardly matters because his AA and passive both give gold and they hit together so you can get 3 stacks with one AA

You people talk like offensive pressure isn't something supports should have. Combine an aggressive ADC like Cait with a Zyra and you have one the strongest bot lanes, pair a weak ADC with Zyra and she will bully the enemy laners so that her ADC can farm up. That type of stuff you cannot do with other supports. It's not always about kills, but about keeping the enemy laner down. This concep tisn't unique to supports, hence why mage supports are not an inherent problem in the game.

Also stop bringing up Lux as a support, she's awful and can't do anything compared to any traditional support. High mana costs, sub par poke for what she pays for it and she desperately needs items.

You're just pointing out things those champions can do that are the problems. And when those champions can't just bully out enchanters, enchanters get unfairly nerfed. It's a vicious cycle.

They're not problems just because you disagree with them.

They have their place in the game, stop crying and learn to accept that they have always been. What you're saying doesn't make much sense.
