Sion a support now?

Sion top is sitting at a sad 47% winrate at top with a 1.3% playrate. Could be cause for concern right?

People say "play him support".

His support does have a high winrate at 54% but is at like 0.3% playrate.

I just don't like where this is going...

Aslo, unlike other infinite scaling champs, sion has a terrible late game winrate. The guy needs help man.

Strange how people would downvote this.. I didn't know Sion had changes on pbe when I posted this and he got them on the 17th, less than ten days before I posted. Apparently Riot agreed that he needed some help.

I believe he is getting a small buff next patch.

Soul Furnace (W): Cooldown lowered from 13 to 11 Shield % of max health increased from 6/7/8/9/10% to 8/9/10/11/12%

Support's been his best role for a while. In Korea, its been played more than top sion since season 6 or even earlier. In fact, he's been the highest winrate support for a while over there.

I knew about that already and this is mostly the reason of this post. He's doing better as a support than he is Top. Galio, a warden, isn't even being played support as much as Sion. Maybe I just don't understand the reasoning entirely. My only observations are these

  1. Sion has a decent early game and falls off from there.
  2. Sion has a fairly useless health-stacking passive. The fact that he's played as a support shows how lackluster it really is considering Sion would lose out on a lot of bonus health (not farming). This effect almost seems like a downside to Sion since his base health and natural health growth is awful while other tanks get this health/growth naturally.
  3. He's never seen in pro play. (Just an observation. Lots of people would bitch and moan if their champ wasn't top teir one season).
  4. His damage is the worst out of all the Vanguards/Wardens (Tanks) yet they all provide similar amounts of utility/cc.

So yeah, I'm glad hes getting the buff but I think he needs a bit more work especially concerning his passives. His Glory in Death passive is arguably his worst feature but only due to the fact it is less effective as he gains levels. (he loses more health over time the higher level he is.) This is plainly not the case for any other champion in the game. For some reason Riot thinks this makes sense while also not ever making sense on any other kit lol. I don't know why.

For example, Kog Maw's passive only gets better. The time he has to run around before exploding doesn't lessen as the game continues and his damage only increases.
