daily reminder that chat bans dont make people less toxic

in fact they make them more toxic because they sit there and fester and deal with equally toxic teammates. i won't lie. last season i was pretty toxic and i deserved every ban i got. which was A LOT. this season though, i can't even say anything to make anyone want to report me anymore. because if i get ONE report now i get 70 games chat restricted and 35 game ranked ban. your system didn't make me less toxic. in fact i was 100 times MORE toxic when i got ranked/chat banned.

what happens if someone does really bad on chat restrictions? odds are his team is going to freak out on him, and he only gets so many replies. so you know what happens? first 3 messages go by very quickly. and guess what happens to the poor unfortunate soul who has no messages available and doing bad that game? he gets to read a shit ton of abuse, get mad, and then the second his message comes up tends to just say something out of anger. and then guess what happens? the team that was treating him like shit all day will mass report him and renew his ban cycle.

even now sure i get a little toxic here and there, but i can tell you without reservation its reactive, not proactive toxicity. now, i don't dare say a word in game because someone will report me if they find something wrong with what i said. ive been chat ban/ranked ban free for about 50 games on my main account, but i know one bad game will get me another 70 game chat ban/35 ranked restriction.

9 other people have complete power over whether or not im gimped in game.

why have chat bans at all if you have ranked bans anyway?

Chat restriction keeps people from BMing, arguing, and generally being a pain in the ass.

If they are going to have a bad day, it keeps them from at least spreading it to the rest of the team by trash talking in all-chat.

While I believe that straight up bans (then going into chat restriction) would be more suitable, you can't deny the fact that chat restriction does help lower the amount of toxic players in LoL (or at least has them unable to speak, allowing a few games without their annoying "MAH TEAM IS SO TRASH! I AM ONLY 0-9-2 BECAUSE THEY SUCK AND STEAL MY KILLS!!!").

almost everyone BM's eachother. the only difference is that the person who's doing good tends to get a free pass for it. but the guy who does bad? nah lets bm him and then report him at the end of the game when he's just defending himself.

That's not true at all. Nobody gets a free pass. A bad play or a good player, both will get reported if he deserves it.

It is true that some people tend to forgive BMing if the individual does very well, but most people still report the guy for being an annoying kid that ruins their fun with their crying, whining, and insults.
