Is it just me or was the kindred nerfs to ult a mistake?

Many people praised the quick and proper timeing her ult took to use, I have yet to see a single topic complain about how "broken it is" and it gave comps a effective way to counter assassins and mages who just straight up one shot you and your teamates. If anything this greatly dumbs down her ult and forces teamates to clump up near her in fear if they aren't near her, that they will get picked. Plus it was not like it only helped her teammates their was always potential for the ult to be easily turned against her, for example gragas or lee sin walks to the team, pushes them out of it, and just uses it for themselves.

I am an assassin main, if anyone should have a issue with how this ultimate worked, it should be me, I had no issue with it.
