Can yall nerf Yasuo's 3rd Q? Not the damage or anything.

Neidox··266 votes·10,524 views

But how long he can hold onto it. He can just zone for the whole duration of holding onto it. Just the threat of getting hit with it or the E+Q knock-up combo is annoying. Since hes such a fast paced champion, I think he should be punished for not using it within a reasonable time-frame. I just can't even with all these Yasuos every game. o

tbh i just want it to count as "ranged" when it calculates Grasp of undying and Warlords..

HaloDragonX17 votes

Yeah the warlords thing is dumb.

VinhBlade2 votes

Random kinda out-of-topic question, does Thunderlord works on Yasuo? I see a few people use it, and it's kinda like a weird DMG burst, but yeah, does it actually work? Do people prefer other keystones over this?

YumScrumptious9611 votes

Nobody who plays Yasuo lots will use Thunderlord's, its just weaker on him than Fervor, Grasp or Warlord's.

How does it make sense when it takes like 25-30 seconds to build his tornado or longer, it can go away if he doesn't hit minions, monsters, champions on time and after all that effort his 10 seconds of power should go away? I don't see any other champions requiring that long on their knock ups/backs, stuns, etc.

Mecha Incognito20 votes

You just gonna try pulling numbers out your ass for an argument?

His Q has a 4 second cooldown - without any attack speed - meaning it takes 8 seconds to charge early. So he can hold his tornado for longer than it takes to charge at ANY point in the game.

I'd like to know where you got the 25-30 seconds estimate, seems like you really know your stuff!

Try and remember, Twisted Fate had similar nerfs from his 'Pick a Card', because he could hold it for so long. And that's on a champion that's much slower than Yasuo, and he still got it reduced.

It takes 2 hits and a skill shot on top of requiring opponents to be close, so no minions or said champions close, no tornado what so ever.

He got it reduced and whose playing tf now? no one.

Zerenza4 votes

It takes two Q hits, that's not exactly difficult, all you have to do is walk up to a minion, Q it and run away. It also get's charged from your E+Q combo. And TF is one of the most played champion in high ELO because of how incredibly game changing he is, they nerfed his pick a card because it was cancerous to deal with twisted fate zoning you for most of the game.

You first need to have said minions. you can't go into team fights as Yasuo because you are squishy and get cced hard. So you have to get your q up how ever you can and in jungle fights that is difficult enough. Have you ever tried to get a q up while your team kills the minions themselves. As for q and run away, you again Have to wait long enough and risk a lot for that q. Yasuo isn't even a threat in high elo, so why would they nerf him?

Anth8953 votes

You don't need to be squishy as Yasuo. The meta builds for him are tanky. His 2 main builds dont even need to go 100% crit anymore.

Mecha Incognito3 votes

You're so detached it's unreal. You seen these Yasuo builds of late? Favouring items like Phantom Dancer, Trinity, Frozen Mallet etc. - he ends up being anything but squishy, yet still gets good damage and all this zoning power from level one.

jaycer9717 votes

Yasuo has so long time to cast 3rd q only because of his ultimate. Without q he can't use ultimate, unlike other champs, who can straight press it without any problems. Its already hard to get your 3rd q while teamfighting outside the lane, then you have to decide when to cast it and you want to make duration shorter. Just because you don't like playing against him, it doesn't mean he has to be nerfed.

TequilaZombie18 votes

I just feel like they could increase the duration with levels. Make laning against him a bit less abusive while preserving his late game.

WoonStruck6 votes

This has potential.

Could always give his Q 7 ranks, while giving his W 3 ranks if you need to extend that curve as well.

TequilaZombie1 votes

I'd rather have it made as a passive to his Q than as an increase tied to an ability's level.

Maybe starting with a 3 seconds duration and increasing by 0,4 with each level, granting him 10 seconds to hold on to it late game. It should be better than giving it a set increase at fixed levels like 3s at lv 1, 6s at lv 6, and so on.

He already has a ton of power spikes in his kit, the last thing he needs is a powerspike with utility as well.

You're asking to nerf a late game champion hitting his already crap beginning game? Hhhhhhhow about no. So many of you on here play skill less champions who just stand and point and stun, while Yasuo has to dodge and out play you and considering this game has 90% champions with cc, he gets beat down hard. If you can't outplay him that's because you're bad he isn't op.

TequilaZombie1 votes

When did I said Yas is op?

The problem with his Tornado holding is that it grants him zone control and some sort of passive lane dominance where he doesn't have to do anything to zone you for a pretty lengty duration. I'm pretty sure that free zonings wasn't in Riot's plans when they created him.

The problem is not when he's actively doing something to zone you out, as standing between you and the minion wave or jumping at you whenever he gets the chance. The problem arises when he can just sit back and still zone you without having to do much.

Master Artoria1 votes

Just wondering does that mean Orianna should get a re-work since her ball gives her free lane control without her having to do anything?

TequilaZombie2 votes

Of course not. This was meant as part of her kit. Ori was the original zone control mage. She is all about zone control.

The problem is that Yas was never meant to be the zone control guy.

Master Artoria1 votes

Oh ok then need Zed cause his shadow is free zone control, glad we cleared that up

TequilaZombie2 votes

Not really. It has a long CD, it is his only escape and also consumes a big amount of energy to cast. It's not that free. Or that strong considering that the biggest consequence of the shadow is getting you hit by a shuriken (which compared to being knocked up and ulted is not that bad).

Mystic Teddy3 votes

Levelin Q for Yasuo does nothing but raise the base dmg slightly, all Yasuo players start, and max E so it can be spammed more, and so it does more dmg.

Even Q's cd is effected by attackspeed, not by leveling it, so giving the ability he doesn't max 7 levels is pointless.

WoonStruck9 votes

So you're saying that giving incentive to leveling Q is a bad thing?

Part of the point is that his bread-and-butter skill is nearly pointless to level.

Offering more control/pressure with Q by leveling it is a good way to solve that without increasing his damage.

Creepy Bubble41 votes

The problem with justifying his Q's duration with the ult is that the ult gives him unparalleled combat potential. 50% bonus armor pen, the increased CC duration, and the damage, along with his innate double-crit chance passive is such overloaded BS that I've seen god-mode cheats on other games that give you far less than this.

an extreme example is that you can't justify a guaranteed one-hit-kill ability just because it has a 10 minute cooldown.

It's the difference between OP and Imbalance. he's not inherently Over Powered, he's imbalanced and overloaded is all. They need to shave off some excess stuff off his kit to balance him properly (imho)

Pika Fox13 votes

Issue with that assumption is that his kit is inherently restrictive.

His Q is restricted via a 3 hit mechanic. His E is restricted via needing an enemy unit to use it, with a fairly long internal timer per unit. His R is restricted via needing a displacement on a target before it can be used.

His kit has a lot of power in it because he doesnt have access to his entire kit at all times.

Xonra21 votes

He has the least restrictive kit that is restrictive then.

No resource at all Just moving around gets a shield Free dash if minions are around A fairly decent ranged knock up that he can zone you with for as long as he wants (much worse for top lane than mid)

  • The Q is easy to stack to 3 just attacking minions
  • There are few times he isn't around enemies, especially during the laning phase, making his positioning almost always better (in the lane)
  • Given what it does and that it costs no resource, and the range on it, I'd say it is pretty on par with other ults, and not restrictive at all.

If he didn't have restrictions, he would be OP. He has free extra crit, a wall that blocks most spells (and ranged autos) in the game, can dash (which does damage) to enemies not already tagged, a knock up, a shield gained by....moving around.

I mean, not everyone has access to their kit 100% of the time so that is a terrible argument. Most champions have much higher cooldowns, and an actual resource to manage, and much less mobility.

He is far from op, but his kit is pretty loaded for having both strong offense AND defense, with zero resource to manage.

I have no clue it's pretty funny I get owned with gnar even if I am already 2 kills ahead. Yasuo has like 1 1/2 finished items and I have BC or FM + randuins and still it's pretty hard. Yasuo AA Q+wall wins the fight and that's pretty ridiculess. Not to mention the stupid unlimited movement skill.

PS. Nerf movement or nerf the dmg. Or buff tank items but that would be even worse balancing (adc).

dominusx12 votes

Yasuo counters Gnar. pretty much half Gnars kit is useless vs Yasuo and if you are bad enough to rush dmg instead of armor vs yasuo you deserve to lose the lane. oh and btw if you have 2 kills with Gnar you pretty much win every lane except maybe Irelia

Depárt2 votes

It's really not unlimited and it's majorly exaggerated to say so, it requires an enemy unit (minions, champions or monsters) to dash to, upon which the dash is a fixed distance and has a static cooldown of .5/.4/.3/.2/.1.

On top of that it has a "no spam" cooldown requiring him to wait 10/9/8/7/6 seconds before dashing to the same target(s) again.

I feel like the true problem with Yasuo is his ult cooldown, it's such a high impact ult with such a low cooldown (80/50/30) without building any cdr. His ult most likely needs the Ezreal treatment of +40 seconds at all ranks, this would give many more opportunities to slow down his scaling and more potential to outplay him.

WoonStruck20 votes

He needs:

  • a nerf to his tornado 'buff' duration

  • a nerf to the window his ult can be used. If you CC him as he knocks you up, he often still has time to ult after the CC wears off since they drastically increased this window when everyone was pathetically bad at him near release. That's pretty obnoxious since someone is out-playing you and you still win as Yas.

  • a nerf to the armor pen on his ultimate, or simply nerfed to only affect base armor. Mitigating the effect of tanks against him downplays the roles of tanks in general...They shouldn't even be his first target anyway. Armor pen should only affect targets hit by Last Breath either way

  • a slight nerf to windwall duration (equal to the Azir wall nerf for melees, but for ranged instead) OR windwall's duration lowers for each attack it absorbs; duration increased,'targetable' by ranged auto attacks.

  • Double Yasuo's E CD at lower levels. Same at rank 5. E should be used as mobility to stay relatively safe at low levels. It shouldn't be used to stat-check opponents out of lane at level 2 for simply CSing. If you think 1/.8/.6/.4/.1 second is too long of a CD for an ability, you have something wrong with you...

No, these would not be extreme nerfs. They would be putting him in line:

First only makes him less obnoxious when ahead. It lowers how oppressive his laning is if he has any form of a lead. Same deal as TF holding on to Gold Card, except the consequences of Yasuo landing his ability is MUCH greater post-6.

Second only removes fringe cases that hardly affect his gameplay potential. It only makes him less stupid by removing something that causes him to auto-win some 'trades' that should actually have gone even. Pretty stupid advantage to have, and removing doesn't really nerf him outside of scenarios that shouldn't happen in the first place. Currently, Yasuo still wins even if his opponents outplay him by CCing him as he's knocking up.

Third makes it so he can't just murder anything just for landing his ult on one target, which already offers damage, shield, gapclose, CC, and that obnoxious 'buff'. This is the main thing that makes Yas over-loaded, IMO. Maybe nerf the CD by 10-20 seconds, but that would mostly affect situations he's already winning in lane and that ridiculous item 3078 build. He wouldn't be nerfed at all as far as team-fights go (as far as CD).

Fourth makes it so he isn't what Azir was (is) to melees, but to range. Windwall should be a useful tool, however it shouldn't absolutely invalidate all but a select few ranged champion for four seconds.

Fifth simply makes it so he actually has to play a match-up, not cheese an early kill to automatically win lane. Being able to do that doesn't help Yasuo's case in the slightest, balance-wise. Remember that he's supposed to be a hard carry...being an early lane bully to the degree that he is shouldn't go with that Vladimir Cassiopeia Ryze Vayne Twitch Mordekaiser have all been nerfed for the same reason at some point or another..

I can't tell you how important this one is. When I play support and I land a CC on him has he uses his q, he can still ult after the cc wears off. It's not ok, especially considering how difficult it can be to hit him in the first place with said cc.

IMO they should remove the arpen and increase base dmg. No more tank deleting and his ult will feel actually satisfying.

Let's put a nail in this right now.

As a 700k Yasuo main, I shall instruct you on how to fix this issue.

  1. Yasuo need to stop whining about fking Yasuo.

  2. He takes 3 hits to summon his tornado, I don't hear you complaining about how long he has to wait for it and how he can't cast it without hitting a minion, monster, or champion being in range.

  3. Yasuo's kit is fine, you are just bad and can't counter him because you lack the skill.

  4. 90% of champions have a form of cc, be it a stun, knock up, knock back, slow, etc, saying Yasuo's should be nerfed alone is stupid.

  5. Having 90% of champions with a cc and not having any affective tenacity in game Yasuo gets dumped on hard by many.

  6. Go learn you main properly and you won't have trouble. I.e. go practice and stop sucking.

  1. What?

  2. It takes 2 hits... What are you talking about. Also, he can cast it without hitting a target, what do you mean???

  3. Put this in the middle of the "why Yasuo is balanced" list will you? Typical.

  4. That tornado is the widest long range cc I can think of, and it's incredibly easy to proc. It gets 1.86% cd reduction on it per level because of the attack speed he gains... Giving it a slight nerf to the duration which by the way is 10 seconds shouldn't be a huge deal.

  5. How are Merc Treads/Boots of Swiftness not effective tenacity? 35% reduction is really good, and Yasuo can block hooks, binds, knockups, and auto attacks (rip TF gold card) with his Windwall. Who does he get dumped on by?

  6. Again, typical. The guy made one suggestion about a minor change to his Q proc and you rage like this.

Exactly what you read.

he has to hit targets to activate his tornado, and he needs to be close, other wise he can't activate it.

I don't understand you try at what ever sarcastic this is.

It's also obvious as to which way it's going and has the longest time as to engaging in its cast. Also have you seen morgs or lux's or anyone elses stuns wtf r u talking about? It is a huge deal. Yasuo can't use all of his kit at once like most champions, restricting to a longer duration is a crazy hard hit to him.

I've played with 51% tenacity on him before, literally got dropped before the stun was up. In a game that has hard cc to the point where you wait seconds in a 1 second fit, 35% is like nothing and counters nothing.

It's not rage, its a kid who couldn't out play Yasuo so wants to nerf him his reason being he is scared to approach. like how do you think Yasuo players feel playing him when he has stunning and hard cc champions. I don't hear an out cry for lux to have shorter stun duration or for her to have to cast it 3 times before use.

You said "Yasuo need to stop whining about Yasuo". I'm really not sure what you meant by that.

Ok, from the sound of it I thought you were saying he had to target someone with his tornado to use it.

I'm just saying in the middle, why'd you have to add that? You already added a "get good" phrase at the end, so why in the middle also?

Yasuo's stun is wider, longer range, a faster projectile, it can crit, its animation is short as heck while Morg and Lux actually have to turn around completely if they are running and want to use it, and it costs no mana. In fact, Lux and Morgana dont even have stuns, just roots.

The hardest mid/top cc I can think of is Malzahar's ult, and I hav played as Lux vs that and not gotten dropped in one go without tenacity. Yasuo can also buy a QSS since he's AD unlike mages. So, I'm not sure which champ you are talking about did what you described to you.

Sometimes you just can't outplay bursty champs. When I play ADC for instances and Yasuo takes over half my life with one Q crit, there's just no outplay to that. Then the shield blocks over half the damage of my first auto by the time he roams down bot, so there's just no option except to try to run, and even that's hard because of his mobility.

Lux and morg don't have to use their attacks multiple times and arnt close range squishys that have to fight their way in and out. I've literally roflstomped people playing yasuo while i played darius, lux, annie you name it. Yeah his tornado his wider, but not by enough to say he needs it nerfed. On top of that he has to build it. And while all that being said he still gets crushed. I played as yasuo once against jack I tornadoed jax mid air while he tried to stun me, ulted him, used bork on him, exhausted him, ignited him, and i forget what else, and he literally auto attacked me to death. Yasuo is not even close to op, and his kit is balanced. The ten second duration is countered by the fact that in jungle fights he has to have something to q or minions or champions, he can't even activate it, but anyone who is going to fight him 1v1 close range is going to win.

I would not say Malzahar's ult is the most powerful cc. I've been one hit by veigar plenty of times before I could get out of his cc. Especially in event game modes. qss was nerfed and doesn't debuff as much as you think. But even if it did you're trapped and before you can activate it and use anything to escape it's like a 1 or 2 millisecond margin of actually being able to escape. that's not that much.

If i can't outplay them because their op, then why would I as yasuo need the nerf instead of them? Yasuo can only half your hp if you're behind hard. I've played him long enough to know that only if his laner opponent feeds, or whatever, only then will he be strong. But that's all late game champions. You can literally bait out Yasuo for 30 minutes without him being fed or anything. He needs kills and minions, all you have to do is zone him out, which honestly isn't hard. As for Yasuo vs adc, Yasuo is an assassin, all assassins are supposed to beat down adc, that was always the intention. You aren't suppose to even be close to him as an adc or be close to anyone as an adc, you let you support cc him, and have you way from the back of you team.

DænariusKhølerin5 votes

Like I said though, Yasuo has a stun which is more powerful than a root. I don't see why that should be compared to Morgana and Lux' roots.

You said you Exhausted and Ignited a Jax top? You had no flash or TP? Interesting.

He still has his regular Q. If you get your tornado up, you get to activate perhaps one of the most powerful ults in the game. A ton of damage, hard cc, and on top of that 50% armor pen. I beg to differ that just anyone that fights him at close range will kill him, especially if he has Warlord's.

QSS is still a very good item. It rewards fast reactions also, but how are you dying in 1-2 milliseconds?

Yasuo is not late game. He pressures hard in his lane pretty much as soon as he gets TriForce, because the item is spectacular on him.

I understand Assassins are supposed to be able to destroy the ADC, but he doesn't build like an Assassin at all and still has that crazy damage. He builds like an ADC most of the time.

Like I said though, Yasuo has a stun which is more powerful than a root. I don't see why that should be compared to Morgana and Lux' roots.

ummmmmmmmmmmmmmm he doesn't have a more powerful stun of any kind. he has an easily dodgeable tornado he has to build up while morg and lux have any time roots. So let's make their cd on their roots 50 seconds if we are going to make yasuo nerf his q. Sounds stupid right? Lux and morg have any time stuns castable at any point. Yasuo has to have a build up and doesn't get to ult without it. WHile lux and morg do.

You said you Exhausted and Ignited a Jax top? You had no flash or TP? Interesting.

Flash and tp are fine, but the best build on a good yasuo player are ignite and exhaust. Granted you will be constantly ganked, but you kno wthat ahead of time and are ready.

Actually you're wrong, his ult does almost no damage. especially for like 30 minutes of the game while he buys items. It literally is just a cc trap for 30 minutes until he has a full build. I've ulted people before without even getting them to half their hp with my entire kit. The 50% pen does help, but doesn't add much considering he is still squishy and by the time he has enough damage items to hurt, most people are tanky enough to endure it and or have cc or a dash or flash or anything to avoid it. Actually pretty much anyone, yes if he is far ahead and fed, that being your teams fault, he can win, but on equal ground he can't 1v1 better than most, adc won't get close unless they are stupid, support has a stun or is a tank, top is to tanky and most of the time juggernauts, and mid is on equal ground, except most mids are long range and he isn't so he would still have a difficult time.

QSS is still a very good item. It rewards fast reactions also, but how are you dying in 1-2 milliseconds?

because most champions who can root or stun or whatever are heavy heavy hitters. veigar hits hard as hell, so does lux, so does leblanc, so does sona. most only take 1 hit to lower you enough where if you stay you die or it's already too late to run.

Yasuo is not late game. He pressures hard in his lane pretty much as soon as he gets TriForce, because the item is spectacular on him.

Yasuo is 100% late game. only people who can't outplay him or don't know how he works will be taken in by him. he literally bluffs for 30 minutes. Literally stun him, damage and he will run for most fights. he hits 1/10 of you hp with his kit, while champions like leblanc will 1/2 your hp with one hit early game. If you are losing to him it's because he is outplaying you, not because he is stronger.

I understand Assassins are supposed to be able to destroy the ADC, but he doesn't build like an Assassin at all and still has that crazy damage. He builds like an ADC most of the time.

He builds like every assassin. and doesn't even get mad damage till late game. Adc actually build like assassins now. the speed, the lifesteal, etc. are assassin builds.

Yasuo has to have a build up and doesn't get to ult without it. WHile lux and morg do. OK, let's act like neither Lux or Yasuo have a root or stun. What do they have then? Well, Yasuo still has his Q in Steel Tempest form. Lux on the other hand has nothing for her Q. Yasuo still has escapes while Lux has none. Lux will have a hard time dealing damage in lane because her E is not the easiest to doge, but still dodgable and even if you do hit it, it's not nearly as powerful unless you use her short range auto to proc the Illumination. Her autos are also very weak unlike Yasuo's. So my point is, her Q root is so essential to her kit if she wants to deal damage. If she tries to walk up to a Yasuo to proc Illumination and he's not CCed, it's not going to be a good time. Flash and tp are fine, but the best build on a good yasuo player are ignite and exhaust. Granted you will be constantly ganked, but you kno wthat ahead of time and are ready. You can't always know when you are going to get ganked. The highest mastery Yasuos in the world still take Flash, but I suppose they do take Ignite depending on the matchup.

You're right about his ult for the first level, but it start to get strong with the 150% AD scaling. And the 50% armor pen is easily usable afterward since you've already blinked to your target.

because most champions who can root or stun or whatever are heavy heavy hitters. veigar hits hard as hell, so does lux, so does leblanc, so does sona. most only take 1 hit to lower you enough where if you stay you die or it's already too late to run.

That is true, and they have to use Q, W, and E (and/or R in Leblancs case) to do that usually.

His kit looks like it was made for mid game. For example, he gets 100% crit in 2 items, and that is definitely mid/earlygame-centric. He's not so weak that he'll only take 1/10 of your HP with his kit.

He builds like every assassin. and doesn't even get mad damage till late game. Adc actually build like assassins now. the speed, the lifesteal, etc. are assassin builds.

Usually AD Assassins will build Ghostblade and Duskblaade nowadays, but Yasuos always seem to build an ADC crit build with Bloodthirster or BOTRK.

  1. What?

Tenacity is not effective vs Yasou because knock ups are not effected by tenacity and neither are suspensions (Ult).

I usually dont call people out like this but screw it. you are calling people bad and saying they lack skill, while according to your match history, you are a mega feeder. I mean, you dont even take summoner spells a lot of the time. Im questioning if you even have those 700k points

Yours is something better? most of my history is from event matches and me playing unfit champions with terrible teams. Either stick to the topic or fk off

So you tell people to "git gud" and then you make an excuse to why you feed every match, and then you say to stay on topic after that. let that sink in.
