Why does the new ranking system feel so complicated ?

All you had to do was improve your matchmaking system to create more balanced games. No more 2 good players + 3 bad ones on either side = balanced.

Now, whenever I try to read about the new ranking system, I feel like I'm reading fuckin' quanthum string theories with so many useless changes and unneeded divide between rank and role. Then again many "solutions" for problems that wouldn't even be there without forcing these changes. Feels like you're complicating a simple thing just for the hell of it.

It probably feels so complicated because we haven't had time to get used to it yet.

I'm willing to bet once we've had a few days to adapt to it it'll make sense. Seems like something you can learn more easily by simply doing it than by reading it.

I mean you can kinda see what it means. It’s some physics thing where the equality helps you not have to take the partial derivative of that function (with the Greek symbol) wrt to t, and instead be able to plug and chug into the new (probably easier to use), formula. Also I’m guessing the divergence value is given.

Also probably makes it easier to throw inside a computer.

I never really did anything past second yr physics tho, so I can’t be sure.

I like the new system because then you wouldn't be falsely advertised when a higher elo player gets autofilled and plays badly.

The new system does nothing but make people worst and make longer qs

How is it complicated? It uses the same system but gives you a seperate mmr for each role instead of using the same one for all 5 roles.

Also, the improvement was one of the few things they could do to make games more balanced. The unbalances you see in games now is due to the underlying elo backbone not being able to track a player performance in all 5 roles with one value.

I personally think it will lead to balanced competitive games.

And I want to grind to see how high I can get in each.

I think it seems more complicated because frankly the current system is FAR too simple. The incoming system make plenty more sense when you stop and think about it e.g. I'm a Support Main, currently at G4 and on average climbing slowly; I am absolutely not a G4 level Midlaner (and probably not even an S4 level assassin player, because I main artillery mages, enchanters and engage tanks). Just because my overall rank is G4 does not mean I can fight a G4 Top if I get filled there (and it has happened), but because I'm still climbing as a Support, albeit slowly, it would be kinda unfair to pit me against an S3 Support Main, even if S3 is where the rest of my lanes sit.

If Autofill wasn't a thing, then the new system could get away with being far less complicated, but it's still a better system than the current one for dealing with OTPs and Jacks-of-All-Trades being in the same queue. It doesn't matter if you can play Yasuo to Masters level if he get's banned, and your next best champion you can only play to high Plat.

wait wtf happend? did they change something?

How is the complicated? All that's different is you get 5 separate MMRS instead of one single MMR.

ok so lets say then

that a DIAMOND player who is at a GOLD level as every role except their main.

they queue up for "fill" they ask for the champ they're good at and tell their gold teammates that they're a diamond... mid, lets say

they get mid

they absolutely fucking shitstomp the game because they're playing fill, they get LP "splashing" to their main role for TINY effort they play a fuckton of incredibly incredibly easy games, then they tank their other roles by selecting and playing those roles shittily (except games where they're autofilled in which they may do the same as step1)

then they repeat

You have a diamond level player fighting on their diamond skill-level champ, getting (albeit a total pittance) of splash LP on their main but they're getting it for fighting LOWER ELO GAMES by a longshot

SEEMS KINDA EXPLOITABLE MAN JS -AA
