How to remove this ridiculous damage meta (runes)

The answer is simple, revert the Runes Reforged update. There are too many steps required to make the new rune system work, and we all know that Riot is far too slow on the uptake to actually get around to implementing them, so let's just go back to the system that worked. I don't think anyone was actually complaining about the old system besides runes costing IP, so why not just make the old runes free :)

Plus, if we did get around to removing this damage meta champions in general would be easier to balance, and some, such as Katarina would be able to actually use their delayed/extended damage rotations to their full potential without being brainlessly one-tapped by 1-2 abilities or 1-2 autoattacks. We would have more variety in champions is what I'm trying to say, and specifically assassins would become easier to balance again.

Well, this is my take on it anyways, I'm curious as to what you all think. Do you prefer the current runes? The old ones? I'm interested in knowing which ones you prefer/preferred.

There are changes being made to the runes system this preseason. You can find more information in the Dev Corner.

I've read them, they won't be enough. The runes are they are are overloaded and overpowered, just adding a little extra to one resist will not fix the issue(s).

Not saying they will; just pointing them out. Don’t shoot the messenger.

Yep, don't worry I know about what they're planning on doing. Still, those changes will not fix the issues, so I think they need to make further changes ASAP if they want to make this new system work.

Too late to revert.

But I do generally agree that there's too much damage, especially in secondary runes. Worst offender and best example of what I hate is Sudden Impact. It's literally just free damage on anyone that can use it, it's totally invisible to the opponent, and there's 0 counterplay to it.

Is it too late to revert? Something tells me that that statement is not correct.

Also if you're wondering Domination, Sorcery and Precision are pretty much exclusively about damage, and the utility options you are more or less forced to take or can take are quite underwhelming compared to the damage options you MUST take. The only exceptions to this would be Ghost Poro and Zombie Ward, which worsen the issue at hand since they are utility options...only now they also have damage attached to them.

I think it's too late. We're now used to the new system and it has clear advantages over the old one, despite annoyances. It simply doesn't make sense to throw out that progress.

What I would prefer to see is removal of these runes that offer invisible damage. Magical boots, hexflash, manaflow band, bone plating, etc. all prove that you can have interesting runes without adding a buttload of invisible power.

Even Dark Harvest isn't super well communicated to the receiving player; all I see is my health bar disappear when I get hit. Compare that to something like Electrocute, where at least I can see the proc and understand what I can do to avoid it next time.

Yes, however you cannot disagree that these new runes have caused more problems than they have solved, as well as the fact that hardly anyone had an issue/issues with the old system.

These new runes make it seem like you're using your champion for the runes, not the runes for the champions, which is my secondary reason for hating this new system. The fact that these runes are so impactful is less interesting to me than it is more frustrating for me since there simply are not defensive options that properly mitigate the overall prevalence of damage. I enjoyed the old system where every champ wasn't a walking touch of death.....

I surely can. I think the new runes are way better, and the old ones were bs.

And I will still think that pretty much no matter what they do with them. I'm not going to blame Runes Reforged for every problem in the game atm. They need some tuning, that's all. If you're only big problem with them is damage and impact, you can solve both of those with numbers changes.

You can't just solve the damage issue with number changes since there's still a general lack of defensive options in terms of runes.

Sure you could. Buff resolve so everyone takes it secondary.

That's no worse than everyone taking armor yellows and MR glyphs. Still an improvement over the old system.

Buff resolve so everyone takes it secondary.

And that is how you just kill any case of variance in one fell swoop.

I should also note that armor yellows and MR glyphs were not the only option(s), so saying "everyone" took them is generalising.
