Why does nobody play Poppy anymore

I've been trying her out (mainly just experimenting with tanks since Aftershock got the buff of also dealing damage based on hp) and she seems to be disgustingly strong right now it's so hard to kill her and her Q does so much damage early on. I've only done aftershock in top lane idk how she might end up jungling with like warrior enchant and trinity or running conqueror or grasp

She's useful sometimes, and that's because of her W, she can't be picked successfully all the time, and so she's not a champ people onetrick/play that much

She has 2 non ult abilities vs champs with blinks/speed boosts

She's also pretty hard to play top because she's a tank with unreliable cc, so ganks aren't guaranteed to be successful

Her passive can be played around pretty easily, rng drop location... also I'm p sure she gets destroyed by splitpushers/bruisers, it's a bad time for tanks

That said though, she is really good in team fights with the peel

Without E/R she can be pretty useless unless shes right infront of enemys face and tanking like crazy.

that's just what i think though.

There's a difference between being fun and having an OP tool, and overall team viability/impact.

Poppy has a great early game. However, her Ult, needing a charge time, doesn't meet the current mid/late game meta. Her W also doesn't counter champs like Yi, so she generally gets shelfed.

My coach made a pretty good point when I asked him why I could carry so hard with poppy but not any of my mains.

"Poppy is an extreme counter to hypermobility. The more mobility that get's added, the stronger she becomes. Think about it, when fighting Yasuo would you rather have a Sion? Or a Poppy?"
