Don't Play Top or Support

.... if you want to carry games. You are much better off playing ADC, Mid, or Jungle if you plan on carrying. That way, you are part of all those early game fights by dragon. You being ADC/Mid/Jungle = 1 less moron you have to worry about. Just hope your top laner isn't feeding like crazy. A good top laner is one that doesn't feed AND forces the other jungler to go top. You want 4v3 fights down below top lane. I always tell my jungler (I main top lane) to never ever gank top for me, even if I am behind. I always tell the jungler to snowball mid and bot lanes and to let me do me. I like playing tanky top lane, because being tanky is cheap. It is especially helpful if you do get behind.

EDIT: PLEASE NOTICE HOW I DIDN'T SAY A SINGLE FUCKIN WORD ABOUT DAMAGE!!! Damage and KD are not important compared to objectives. Those 3 roles I mentioned have THE LARGEST impact on whether or not you get said objectives early in the game. "Snowball" is a commonly used term in this game, and never have I seen a support go snowball into some crazy beast and get 2 penta-kills to end the game. However, while a great support will not carry a game through kills and whatnot, they will make the job MUCH easier of the carries of the group. That is why you all are saying "omg but I win so much as support"... good supports make carrying/winning easier.

ADC/Jung/Mid and the skirmishes they get into early on have a huge effect on how the game ends. Being one of those 3 is huge.

The best way to win games with a friend is to have one of you play top lane and the other jungle. Top lane friend and you must be tanky. The top lane friend must be trusted to hold his lane by himself, and the jungler friend should focus on snowballing lanes, not on getting kills and whatnot himself. This is a team game, especially with this meta. It doesn't matter if the Katarina on your team is having a bad game or seems kind of slow, you get her fed she is going to do work. The top laner and the jungler should be the ones initiating fights late in the game, if you are good you should win more often than not just because your judgement is better. As a tank, your judgement on when to go in/when not to go in is what will decide games.

THIS IS A SMURF ACCOUNT!!!

You can carry the game with any role... it just depends on what way you look at it.

I've had many games as a top laner where I dominated my lane, like I have 100 CS and the other guy has 20 and I got first blood off of him, but it didn't matter how well I did because my bot lane was the dick suck. About as useful as a $3 bill, and those don't even exist. A fed Jinx/Vayne/Kalista etc... is going to carry harder than any top laner the game has to offer if they are a skilled player.

If you "dominated" your lane, perhaps you should, you know, use the extra gold you got to help your team instead of sitting top lane 24/7 and complaining you lost the game while your 0/10 lane opponent is roaming as you sit around farming. I only lose when I top if most of my team is feeding, but at that point, it wouldn't matter what role I had if my team is doing poorly. I always go dive mid when I am ahead as a top laner, and I always save teleport specifically for dragons or helping bot lane.

Dude, are you fucking retarded? Where did I mention I farm top? If you are any good at playing this game you should have 100 CS by the 10 minute mark. After my first tp, I do not use TP to return to my lane, I run back instead and am constantly looking for opportunities to help my other laners. If the game is out of control by then (aka enemy ADC already has 3/4 kills 5-10 minutes into the game) you are kind of screwed.

Most people who complain about top lane having 0 influence are often those who refuse to help the team after getting ahead.

Your inability to carry a bad team has nothing to do with being top or support, it wouldn't matter if you were mid or jungling, if your bot lane is doing bad, your chances of winning in that same situation doesn't magically increase just because you swapped roles. A lot of top laners automatically win against adcs purely through kit and items early on, even if the opposing adc is slightly ahead.

It does magically increase because you switch roles. If you go into this game of League of Legends thinking to yourself "I want to carry every game" and you choose to be an ADC because of that, you will be more likely to carry games than if you were a support.

If a Challenger ranked player was knocked all the way down to Bronze 5 and they had to choose either support or ADC to carry their way back to Challenger, which one would they have an easier time doing so as? If you don't answer ADC, you are high.

That said, if you went onto this game and said "Screw having fun! I want to max out my elo!" you would have the easiest time maxing your elo as an ADC, Mid, or Jungler. Plain and simple, no debating, nothing, that is fact because you have a much higher impact on the first 15 minutes of the game than anyone else.

I can kind of see your reasoning for Top but... Support? HAHAHAHA!

Support is such a misunderstood role in this community. You aren't supposed to be standing in one spot in the bush dicking around, you are an extra zoning tool to help the ADC get the safest lane to farm as possible, either by playing aggressively and forcing the other team to the farm at their tower, or by keeping your ADC alive with sustain abilities. And yes, you CAN carry your team by playing the role well. It's just harder to do so because Bot lane's match-ups are about as stable as worn out wooden table carrying an anvil.

I agree about support, supports have huge playmaking ability and I love a good support. I would argue that how good your top/support are will decide how far your team will go. Its hard to explain. Your ADC/Jungle/Mid may be great, but you won't get far without a great support to have control of the map and land those clutch hooks and whatnot/keep everyone off the adc or without that reliable top laner that holds down the fort.

TL;DR You need an ADC/Mid/Jungler to carry you, how good your top and support are decides how heavy you have to lift. Top or support isn't going to carry a bad ADC/Mid/Jungler, they will definitely make the job much easier though. But you are going to have to carry 2x as hard if your support is trash or your top lane loses his lane hard.

Top generally is the "I want to be a badass" lane while support is more of a teamplayer position. Also, either of them can turn games around, just like any other position. The other day I played support and we were behind- we might have lost, too. I ulted at the right time and cc'd 4 out of 5, and they quickly went down and we took the base. Every position is as invaluable as the next.

carrying =/= dealing damage. IMO in plat+ support is the role that has the most impact on the game, and on my smurf i actually had the highest winrate with support despite beeing adc main with second best role jungle

btw, smurf or are you really lvl 22? if so i wouldnt suggest making posts like this

Where the fuck did I mention damage in this post? I said the early game fights have a huge impact on the late game, that is it. Those 3 positions are what have the hugest impacts on those early fights.

you said you cant carry with toplane/support. thats just plain wrong. so i assumed you are one of the "good scores/damage =/= carrying" guys

I play a lot of AP tops who are able to carry so I don't mind the role. Nothing quite like a TP Azir coming in and saving your mid inner turret in a 1v4 after taking two turrets with his W. Nothing quite like a good rumble ulti getting you that 5 for 0 teamfight that gets you to their inhibitor.

Support sucks tho. Can confirm. Basically unless you get 2+ kills in lane and you're able to roam and snowball every other lane, there's not much you can do to 'carry' as a support.

I'm going to have to disagree with you, I main support an I've been able to carry quite a few games in the role. Its how well you play it an your decision making ability will determine if you can carry a game or not. As support you can roam, maintain vision an pretty much determine when an where you team fights happen. For example with Janna you can control a team fight, you can start an end it when you see fit, you can also throw the opponents out of position, buff your carry an peel for everyone at the same time. I also don't need a lot of gold an items to be useful either. Overall you can carry in any role, if you don't know how to take full advantage of your lead an snowball your lane or help your other lanes snowball then you won't be able to carry at all.

I can show you PLENTY of pictures of when I carried a game as a top laner, but fact of the matter is you have more of an impact on games if you play mid/adc/jungle. It is a fact. You are around a lot more of the early game skirmishes, and thus are able to cause more of an impact from early on. This is not to say having a great top is not important, they just don't have that huge impact early that other roles do.

FistOfSharkiesha1 votes

You can't reliably carry as support or adc in low elo because you will have games where your partner is just pure garbage. I think Jungle and mid are the most reliable because of their ganking pressure, but top can carry if they have amazing scaling potential and they just farm and pray the other lanes don't lose the game 15 mins in.

Thats what I mean about carrying Fist. A top can carry IF they scale amazingly and their other lanes aren't trash. As an ADC, Jungler, or Mid you have a much more massive impact on those first 15 minutes than a top laner or a support. You should see how hard Vayne smurfs carry games if you feel that way.

FistOfSharkiesha1 votes

But like I said, no matter how good you are you can't 2v1 when the other adc has almost the same CS and tons of CC from his support. If you are adc you will get games where your support gets killed or lets you die, and vice versa if you are support. Bot lane is by far the worst lane to carry unless you know for a fact your partner and even jungler aren't worthless.

People need to redefine the way the see "carrying". I don't know how many top laners I've mind gamed into thinking they won lane while I roamed, made an impact in teamfights, and maximum peeled for my carries with a gold deficit. There are multiple ways to carry a game, but at the end of the day the proof is in the win.

This is one of those things where its kind of unspoken. Everyone kinda knows its true but you dont say it out loud. shhhhh
