We're 7 seasons in and Riot still hasn't addressed melee vs. range in the laning phase
How much longer do you think it'll take
How much longer do you think it'll take
It'll never happen. Riot doesn't see it as a problem.
Yeah it would make more sense for melees to bully ranged champs in lane im right?
So we have bruisers/melee carries in every lane.
????
Make it so neither bully the other?
Why do you always gotta be confrontational about this, worlds had 7-9 ranged champs on average per team
It's pretty obvious there's a problem
There's legit no way a melee can lane vs a ranged champ fairly without outright ignoring them due to being so tanky

Yeah because melee champs have never been broken or spammed in the meta.
You know, juggernaut patch didnt happen at all, since you know theres a core issue in the game mechanics so 5 melee champions could never been permaban at once.
Just because jayce and kennen were op at the time (and still are) doesnt mean theres any problems with other ranged champs.
Range is supposed to be an advantage, if it isnt then whats the point of having melees and ranged? Make everyone bruisers.
But it's not just Kennen and Jayce
It's Quinn, Vladimir, Ryze, Gnar, Lulu, Lissandra, etc whenever any of these champs are good
I.e. all of them were a problem at least once in the past year or still are
It's not some small isolated incident, there's a lot of champs that you're blatantly ignoring
Keeping the above champions bad is not a solution to the problem either, no champ should be bad, but whenever any of them are viable they're basically impossible to lane vs. for a melee champion unless you're tanky enough to outright ignore them like poppy and maokai
There needs to be more room for interaction from both sides

Quinn is not a good champion anymore, and her whole thing is pretty much top lane cheese, you just have to play around it/survive, its no different from your average melee champion laning against illaoi.
Vlad has been overpowered due to numbers and the rework, other than that he has always existed top lane for the longest time and on the periods spellvamp or his numbers werent OP he was not an issue, almost every melee champion with a gap closer could (and still can) shit on him pre 9.
Ryze has had unbalanced kits and was reworked multiple times due to the fact he gets damage out of building tear/mana + point and click hard CC (and the current rework didnt solve that).
Gnar is sort of an overloaded champ but he isnt that bad when riot doesnt buff him for no reason.
Lulu is rarely a solo laner anymore.
Lissandra while annoying can actually have some mana issues if she spams Q so you can outlast her mana pool or just all in after 6 with any generic bruiser with a hexdrinker.
Basically those champs only feel like you cant do anything is if you're playing something like Garen who has absolutely nothing but stats on his kit, but hey turns out garen ISNT the only melee champion in the game!
In riot's eyes it's ONLY been 7 seasons :D

I've never had issues in the matchups. Sure, it's skewed in the ranged character's favor early on, but you get like one item in, and then the melee champ will win every engagement. Even before then, if you can get close enough. There's a reason why characters like Lissandra, Quinn, Vlad, etc, aren't played in every single match, and that's because they aren't actually all that great.
I don't think this is a problem at all. Except for the occasional issue with balance pertaining to specific champions which get fixed overtime, melee champions are usually as strong and many times stronger than ranged champions. You just have to be smart about it. If you have 600 units between you and your opponent, ranged will usually win. But close that distance down to melee fighting, and melee champs for the most part will win. And there's a lot a ways to close that gap either using gap closers built-in to the kit (ex: zac or xin zhao) or through the use of items like randuins or BotRK.
I'm not saying there aren't matchups that suck (a good caitlyn player is a bitch to lane against). But there's ways to get into cait's face and melt her as melee by abusing kits and positioning like bushes.
TL;DR: Melee vs ranged is a non issue in the vast majority of matchups.

This pretty much, close to no ranged champ will win at melee range vs a melee damage dealer in an even secnario (other than some overpowered champs like jayce).
Ranged champs win by poking and keeping you away from them, melee wins by all inning/getting close.
When the game stops working like that then theres is an issue, but right now there is none.
Op just wants ranged autos to do 10 damage in lane so ranged champs just auto lose in both cases.
That's true jayce can't do anything to u in melee range. His melee form is 0 damage 0 cc and has no knock backs. Jesus kennen has no gap closers and escapes too. Holy FUCK i forgot Quinn's e makes u vault into the enemy champ and bring the champ closer to u as well. Oh wait I'm not retarded .
no issues. no fix.
Classic non-melee player response
it's called counterpicking
Jayce/kennen = counterpicking. So ignorant JESUS Christ
We are 7 seasons in and youre still complaining
I've legit never been wrong on anything regarding this game fuffychan
It would require massive systemic changes to League. I've been saying since forever that the lane phase totally warps the game and it hasn't become any less true over the years.
