The difference between old League community and modern League community is astonishing.

There is a reason why it was the number 1 requested feature for ranked.

Because bad players are lazy and stupid.

In the old days, communication was far more important ... we would never have had problems with the troll singed or the troll nunu players getting permabanned because communication was the key to winning. Nowadays it has become relegated to optional, which is a terrible direction to take the game in.

I think you mean that lazy and stupid players are lazy and stupid.

Considering that there are bad players that try to improve.

No. The number one suggested feature for ranked pre season 6 was true soloQ. Duo's where considered toxic as hell and bad for ranked integrity, just about 1/2 complaints about ranked that had nothing to do with x champ UP/OP where about duo's fucking shit up.

Nowadays people are happy just to no longer have to play the dogpile called Dynamic Q.

We have lowered our standards considerably.

GayFluffyUnicorn2 votes

Yeah it's a shame noone says anything about the fact we still didn't get soloQ. I still hate premades. Just had a lovely couple of double duo premades in one of my promo games, i don't want this shit. I don't want a gold 3 jungler vs a plat 1 jungler anymore just because the gold 3 is premade with a plat 2. I don't want afk junglers only sitting their premade without achieving anything. Instead we get autofill shoved down our throat because riot refuses to remove dynamicCancer now called flexcancer.

dunder kill45 votes

actually I think the #1 requested feature for ranked of all time would be "remove Dynamic Queue"

AirKingNeo5 votes

Ah, memes as crisp as my lemonade.

Xx420n0sc0p3sxX6 votes

pretty sure people wanted to remove 4 mans from the dynamic queue, not the actual role selection itself.

Eedat19 votes

.....Dynamic Queue has absolutely nothing to do with role selecting

BabeisBae4 votes

Dynamic Queue is the 1 reason everyone has inflated MMR and you see so many people with 20% win rates in ranked, cause they got carried by 4 or 5 man queues.

But are you emotionally ready to play ranked, that's the real question.

SlaktarTasken1 votes

Nope, I haven't been since mid season 6, I'm afraid I might have dug myself into an emotional cesspit and may never be emotionally ready again.

i stopped maining support a long time ago just cant trust my adc its always 1 of those 3 types:

  1. nice guy that tries to give his best and is really enjoyable to lane with (extremely rare)

  2. asshole that blames you for every one of his mistakes and starts to afk farm and split push while the enemy team does baron/is attacking your nexus (common)

  3. and ofc the guy who just isnt good at playing the role, not necessarily toxic but you just have 0 synergy together and will prob hardlose the lane (frequent)

thats usually the types of adc's i have to play with

requirements changed

the demand for someone to learn every role has decreased, so of course the expectations to know every role have decreased

whether it's right or not is up to you, but it's not like we're comparing two identical situations changed by only time

That's actually incorrect. It is objectively worse for the community to enable hyper entitlement.

The old days were more meritocracy and survival of the fittest... but as you coddle the community more and more, the quality of players and therefore matches, will decrease.

SpongebobIsLife4 votes

is that true though? if everyone gets their main role, wouldn't that increase the quality of the matches???

SoyUnPrededor2 votes

But this doesn't even happen, and because people enter the queue with the expectation that this could/should/will happen, the entitlement being discussed, the quality of matches actually suffers.

Okay, you can't tell me you believe a game where every one has their best/second best role or champion will be of lower quality than a game of ten generalists.

In a custom/scrim/no autofill game the dedicated mains beat the generalists 8 times out of 10. There's a reason Messi or Ronaldo aren't forced to play goalkeeper at random. The best point guard would still be worse than a 'merely' really good center.

It's not coddling, it's enabling specialization among players and thus increasing the quality of the game overall.

Your argument may fly somewhat in the lower divisions but I sure as hell can't see a Diamond top main who has few, if any, jungle games, beat a dedicated jungle mains at that level of play. Hell, I am silver/gold and I've beaten Plats (who are in reality way better than me, being y'know Plats) just because I was in my main role and they were stuck playing a role/champ they don't know the ins and outs of.

Ritesh19 votes

I've played since early Season 2 and I'm with the "ZMOG AUTFILL IS SO UNREASONABLE". You know why? Because at the level I'm currently playing at (Diamond 3+) I can't afford not to get my best role. I can't just pick up ADC and instantly become good at it. And I'm sure as hell not going to take months mastering another role just for the off chance I get autofilled.

I also don't remember saying "I am Diamond Pride and therefore correct", nice strawman argument though.

I'm part of the old community, and yet I'm also part of autofill is unreasonable.

The new queue does have good points, such as you are much more likely to get the role you want to play. It mostly stopped the trolls that just instalock a position, which is really good.

Honestly tho, I really miss the old queue. Pick order was much better and healthier in general imo. Back in the day you had to learn all roles, because you had to play every role every now and then, now you learn just 2 roles, because you queue up as 2 roles. Getting autofilled is really unhealthy in ranked, because imagine you climbed way up to diamond as mid/adc and get autofilled jungle. You have not enough experience in jungle, especially not at this kind of level. You would lose to every main jungler because you are autofilled. Yes, you can argue that you just have to learn all the roles again, but that is unreasonable when you only queue up on 2 roles and expect to get one of them.

How do you insta-lock during draft pick and how does the current system stop the equivalent from happening?

Oops?

basically in old queue people just locked in a position they wanted to play even when it was picked already to force a dodge. Nowadays people just dodge, at least that's what I have noticed what changed.

one thing i hate is when you choose a champion that's uncommon in a lane and then whoever is on that lane freaks out and thinks you took their lane then shouts into the chat "troll took my lane! report him!" and then ACTUALLY IS THE ONE THAT TAKES YOUR LANE EVEN WHEN YOU EXPLAIN "hey i'm actually going to the lane i'm assigned"

I'd imagine that the cooperation between teammates could be strong enough to make a secondary Jungler say: "Hell, it's not my main role but I know how it works so you can take my role."

In diamond at least.

I read a good thread about this a couple weeks ago. People are upset about autofill because the queue pretends to be something it isn't. People accepted they had to be good at every role in the past because pick order meant there was only a 20% chance of ever getting your best role. Now we have role selection which means there should be a 100% chance of getting your best role every game every time no matter what forever. Without exception. So obviously, people no longer play every role and instead try to master the one they're best at (which is how the game should be played, honestly) and when they get autofilled, they're in a role they don't know, don't like, and feel cheated by the system. Because they were. Autofill needs to go.

People are upset about autofill because the queue pretends to be something it isn't.

How does it "pretend" ? it says right there that autofill is activated.

So explain to me where the falsehood lies

Now we have role selection which means there should be a 100% chance of getting your best role every game every time no matter what forever. Without exception.

That's a terrible argument.

It says right there when you're within autofill range "Autofill enabled" or something to that extent. Getting your role "Every time without exception"? yeah I guess you might think that if you ignore the MASSIVE autofill sign sitting right there.

The only way your argument makes sense is if we assume people are too stupid to hover over the symbol to get the pertinent information.

It's dishonest because you have a role select where you select the two roles you want to play. Any reasonable person would expect to, y'know, get one of the roles they picked. But they don't.

You're saying that because it tells you you don't actually get to select your role in a role select, it's okay that you don't actually get to select your role in a role select? In that case we should just go back to pick order and get rid of role select entirely. Except we shouldn't because pick order was garbage and nobody actually liked it, they just tolerated it. Autofill is the problem, autofill needs to go.

to be completely fair I can present it as

"ZMOG PLAY EVERY ROLE" vs. "Autofill defeats the purpose of role selection"

though I do think autofill is important, I disagree with 'learning' every role in the sense you learn a marksman for ADC, a mage/assassin for mid, a tank for top, etc. I think people shouldn't be afraid to take their main role picks as off meta picks in other roles unless it's jg, which has completely bs requirements

SociopathFriend5 votes

To be fair, you had the mentality of, "I only know one role" back in the old days as well. That particular problem has never gone away or really changed.

What has changed is that you can select what role you want entirely separately from your team. This then brought the problem that if a certain role isn't wanted as often as others- you only have two options.

  1. Just wait it out for someone to take the least preferred role.
  2. Make someone take the role.

Option 2 brings shorter queue times- which are kinda a must for online games like this.

I'd just really like to not have 4-5 of my items predertimed just because of my role.

Lugg3 votes

The problem is that the autofill protected only lasts two games, then you are at risk to be filled. It should be five games, that's a much more realistic approach.

Lauchmelder7 votes

Realistically speaking I got mid 15 times, top 3 times and autofilled twice in my last 20 games.

Primary, Secondary and Autofill respectively.

Lugg3 votes

I go mid/top for my picks and I don't get mid even half the time. I probably get top 30% and fill 30%.

My Waifu Vanilla5 votes

If it makes you feel any better I rarely keep autofill protection for 2 games because "lul remakes count as games for your autofill protection haHAA"
