I would KILL for a stun option.
I too kind of like the late game mage carry option, that said i would like her early game to be "strong enough" that you aren't running around for 10-15 mins slapping people with wet noddles or putting band-aids on severed limbs.
I totally agree though she needs to have a set niche to play as, rather then this "jack of all trades".
Aura bot: longer lasting and considerably more powerful auras, gut the hell out of her damage output and up her cooldowns.
Reliable lane bully: Buff that personal damage output and lower the mana cost and cooldown of her Q. Greatly reduce the spam level of her heal and change the shield to single ally buff rather then possible team one.
Late game support-mage carry: What is late game currently? Tune for that, with people understanding that if time frame shifts so will her power curve.
Something i would like for riot to try, even just as an internal iteration is this;
-All of Sona's 'auras' now instead act like quickly outgoing sound waves (think Vlad's blood nova thing without a charge time).
A lot of people argue that Sona's tag zone spells aren't auras at all, and their gameplay is honestly not that great anyway. This puts a nail in that coffin.
-Whenever no ally is buffed by it, Sona receives some of the undistributed power back.
This solves the 'useless alone but powerful in a group' issue, effectively enabling solo lane play.
-The allied buffs only become active once the wave has gone the entire way, therefore inducing a delay for the enemy to react around Sona's plays, and enabling her to have stronger effects. (Sona's personal buffs are still immediate, meaning she receives two instances of buffs for every cast.)
This helps the 0 counterplay of her Q/PowerChord/AA undodgeable burst by creating a delay before the full attack can happen, unless she's holding it, and a delay on her shield's activation as well.
-I would try to have the immediate portion of each of her spells be a midranged skillshot wave (think current ult) or Vel'koz E like, instead of immediate, low effect/counterplay automatic hit spells. Yes, even the heal. I would recommend at least try letting it heal minions for minor amounts. Make E a slow and it's powerchord a stun.
Adds yet more room for both play and counterplay as well as giving her the tools she needs to lane alone.
-Going off of the idea that her ult would simply be another spell, balance between Q and R being similar spells, Q more single target-focused, ignore minions while R serves as waveclear for a higher mana cost.
-will be back later for more?
