Rek'Sai top is everything this forum and community hates yet nobody seems to be talking about her

Kingsgrave··6 votes·2,247 views

Fastest MS in the game Can kill carries in under 2 seconds Can outdamage and outtank people with 3-4 damage items Mega sustain in lane Virtually ungankable due to spammable mobility High base and High AD ratios even after pbe nerf Global ult mobility combined with Teleport makes her capable of splitpushing better than Trynd or Shen ever could

Why is nobody talking about her? The most Ive seen is Hashinshin complaining about her ratio being reduced. Im surprised thats all they are doing.

Mark my words, Competitive is not going to use her as jungle. She is going to be spammed top lane and possibly even mid against certain characters and then going to get mega nerfed.

No one is talking about her for a few reasons.

  1. She's new, so people either don't own her or have her banned.
  2. She's new, so the majority don't know how to play her.
  3. Most people who have learned her already know how to counter her.

She's not invulnerable, just take the time to learn her weaknesses and you'll do fine.

And just a final note, if you haven't figured out weaknesses because you can't lose while playing her it's because people at your level of play haven't figured her out yet. Go up in rank a bit and that will change.

She already has like a 55% winrate

People know about her

She is also so easy to play for how much benefit you get out of her. You don't even have to be remotely skilled to just constantly push both top and bot all game.

Win rate is an overused stat that does not show the full story. Riot will fix any issue they introduce here, however you can't throw a rock in a pond and expect no ripples. Give things some time to settle down, then expect Riot to make a move, if a move is worth taking.

Besides, for a while Swain had both one of the lowest pick rates and highest win rates in the game. Win rate really doesn't mean anything when used alone.

Rek'Sai is an entirely new champion and has a really high winrate right on her release. Winrate indicates how easy it is for someone to win with a champion. This means that Rek'Sai is so overtuned that its super easy to win with her.

They are reducing her bonus AD ratio on her Q by 10% but I personally don't think thats enough. Once AP reksai is removed next patch people will realize how broken she can be even further.

Win rates show how often that champion wins when picked, not how easy it is for that champion to win. Correlation does not imply causation.

Also why make a post about Rek'Sai if Riot is already nerfing her? If the nerf isn't enough what makes you think they won't keep trying until they get it right?

A champion wins a majority of games they're picked in, and are picked quite often, must be bad

Do you know how statistics work?

redniwediS4 votes

Yes, I do. I also understand that we don't have the information required to properly use these statistics to decide what a champion needs in order to be balanced. Riot has the information to find out what bits are simply correlation and what bits are causation.

Riot will eventually get the job done without gutting everyone that loud forum goers dislike.

"Riot will eventually get the job done"

I'm voicing my opinion and hoping they do it right

And I'm pretty sure winning most of the games you're in, with you being the only constant variable thousands of times, is enough to be OP

Of course more complex champions like Lee/Yasuo/Zed/LB/etc are going to have lower win rates due to their larger margin of error, but still be extremely popular and an important ban

I would be especially worried if Zed/Yasuo broke +50% win rates

Reksai is 4 buttons and your lane opponent dies

I'm mostly worried Riot will nerf her in the wrong ways. Her base damage and healing needs hit way before her AD ratios are hit.

Maybe even removing the bonus fury on her Q after burrowing, or toning down how fast she can generate it. I think it's silly that I can go from 0 to full within 1 Q in a big wave or fight.

It also felt funny to out damage and out sustain a Renekton

I'm thinking decreased fury generation in general, but give her bonus generation on jungle camps

The one time I tried jungling her the clear felt awful and I had to back before doing red, probably just cuz I was learning her but still

And yes her base damage definitely needs to be looked at before scalings

I think if they change fury the way I mentioned they can leave her healing alone, cuz it'll be less overall in lane

Yeah. Her first jungle clear feels really poor. Pawnce on YouTube has a really good video of how to do her clear optimally. It basically involves kiting the buffs for your 2nd knock up.

Most of the high ranked junglers I've read or talked to don't think she has enough tools even beside her clear to be seen as a good jungler.

I find it super funny that Riot focuses on Renekton's fury generation but then they release Rek'Sai. I don't know how they didn't anticipate high fury regen + high damage + healing as problematic.

Fury generation on her needs reduced for minions, don't know about champions. They could always have it scale with level.

They might want to just put a higher CD on her W in general and hit her Q base damage a bit. That alone would even her out.

I've only had time to play her once, but will be doing so a bit more in the coming days. Oddly though, her clear seemed to be her strongest aspect to me. Starting Q, then W, getting E last, I was able to clear most of the jungle before my first back. Started Krugs, Brambleback, Raptors, Wolves, Sentinel, then had to forgo the Gromp as I was too low. All in all her clear feels solid.

It's her ganks that felt... just okay, not really great. You've great damage, but having to quickly close the gap to CC a target for your laner to jump on and kill. All in all, she feels like a strong bruiser, neither assassin nor tank, but in between.

Looking at the match history of a single person says nothing about how OP their picks are... I'm going to assume you meant looking at a champion's match history instead, since that actually makes sense.

What I'm saying is that it's easy to see if a champion might need a change, but it's hard for us to say what that change should be. People like the OP will always call out specific attributes of a champion but no one outside Riot has the information needed to make such a call.

There was a time not to long ago when Swain had the highest win rate in the game. Did people say he was OP? No, they didn't, because he also had the lowest pick rate. This is an easy example, but this game doesn't exist in a vacuum. Win rates are a good indicator of a problem, but they only correlate with it, otherwise every champ with a high win rate would have to be OP in some way.

If you actually understand statistics and the correlation/causation difference perhaps you could try and help people avoid that mistake instead of whatever you're doing right now.

Christ do you know any other words?

I just stated she has both a high win rate and a high pick rate, completely different from your retarded Swain example, and gave a proper nerf that hits her laning while buffing her sub par jungling, assuming it's actually sub par and I'm not just shit

I was also the one advocating the removal of Yasuo's W passive, and his E base damage, and his shield base

  1. No
  2. Several champions can do this.
  3. Definitely not.
  4. OK sustain, not mega. Aatrox and vladimir have mega sustain.
  5. make sure to constantly kill tunnels, gank when he uses it in lane whether it be to initiate or create another tunnel.
  6. Is losing .1 bonus AD per hit on Q next patch possibly
  7. Has to put in the legwork to get the tunnels up in the first place and there's no guarantee a fight is going to take place conveniently near a tunnel.

You really shouldn't blow things out of proportion.

You TP to a fight and ult back to lane.

She heals for 175 for a full bar she can get super quickly at level 5. It increases by 25 every level after that. Lifesteal also works on your Q and she rushes Ravenous.

In W form her base MS goes up to 345/350/355/360/365, she also typically rushes trinity after ravenous and she scales super well with MS quints much like Darius

Have you actually played against her at all? I've killed carries and many others with just my Q and E with only a Ravenous. The damage she deals is insane

In burrowed form which a good Rek will be in when a lane is pushed up allows you to see ripples of enemies moving just next to the tip of river bush. This combined with her high base MS in burrowed form makes it really hard to approach let alone gank her

295+90% is still ridiculous (pbe nerf) and it will barely matter since her Q is on a 4 second CD

EffectFX3 votes

I don't see the problem.

Yeah that's not that high considering that you have to constantly hit something to get that fury and if you use it you reduce the damage on your E. Lifesteal works on most physical on hit abilities . Where as Aatrox heals 20-120 based on the level of W and missing HP every 3 hits and also builds lifesteal, and vlad easily beats those numbers once you hit level 9, nevermind that their sustain is also more suited for combat. Burrow grants good sustain, but it's not in the mega category.

Who maxes W first/second? Level 1 W puts her on par with most melee characters. Several champions are faster when you take abilities into account.

Yes I've played against and as her, and she's not that tanky unless she's super far ahead, I've seen way too many glass cannon rek'sai just explode because they didn't build any midgame defensive stats.

Watch the lane then and then move while she's unburrowed. Tremor sense only applies to moving targets.

W seems way more reliable since you get 260 base + 50% bonus AD for unburrowing while also getting more MS

E is total AD, harder to use effectively and it only really goes up by 60% by ranking it

Also with MS quints and 21/0/9 her ms during burrow around mid game if you max W second is insane. Allows you to chase without your E really damn well. I've outran a Riven with it.

Also starting an engage with 260 base damage really helps. Especially since you can reapply that damage around 8 seconds later.

Rank 1 E gives you 160% possible total AD damage, which is by no means bad. It goes up by 80% not 60%, my bad, but still.

I can see the thought process but level 1 E has very low value compared to level 1 W.

However, E increases by 120% at full fury and it turns into true damage. E technically has better scaling but it has significantly inferior base damage.

I went ahead and charted it out, but at 88 bonus AD E (at level 14) damage surpasses W (which is basically a hydra and runes).

Of course then you can take CDR into account and then you will be able to use E more frequently than W since the knock-up cooldown is unaffected by CDR. At 17% CDR you can use E just as frequnetly as you can knock up.

By charting it out, if you're going heavily offensive leveling E second will grant more overall damage at full fury. If you don't purchase much AD and build early tank instead leveling W is better.

You don't have that doc permissions set right

By level 14 you will start ranking your E anyway if you max W second, and E requires you to build fury. W provides more straight up utility and makes your teamfight impact early on a lot better. 240% total AD is nice but 160% isn't terrible. True damage is true damage.

Fixed.

W is a superior teamfighting skill yes, but an inferior split pushing/1v1 skill. The utility remains the same regardless of what level the skill is.

200 more free aoe physical damage honestly adds to the utility

W helps far more with split pushing than E since it's AoE.

E is decent in 1v1s mostly as an execute, but ranking W gives you more MS to chase down people that will flee after they see your Q damage.

EDIT: honestly you will probably never have more than 150 bonus AD on Reksai unless you get horrendously mega fed or just build like Zed and throw caution to the wind.

The most I've seen my E do is around 600 late game.

EffectFX1 votes

Just to make things clear Damage =/= utility. Utility is benefits that arent directly related to damage or durability. CC, heals/shields, vision tools, mobility etc are all forms of utility.

Rek'sai with hydra will hardly have issues clearing waves.

E is also good for zoning in lane, if you're ahead and don't need to use fury to sustain, you can just last hit and stay at full fury and use the threat of a true damage nuke to zone people out (much like a renekton with fury).

I personally don't have too many issues chasing down enemies, though I rarely overchase as is and prefer to go for objectives.

I called it utility because hitting enemies for 300 damage and a knock up allows my team to easily win a fight. Sure I could do 100 and still do that but since I'm not a tank the more damage I bring the better.

She can win a lane and she can lose it against countless champs. Even if she wins her lane she has shitty team fighting, she can't go full tank because she has no tank scaling so she is still squishy as fuck and if she wants to do real damage she dies in seconds when hit by 1 real cc.

I've played her plenty of times, gone something like 9-4-7 and still lost cause my team was shitty. She is NOT an unstoppable 1v5 killing machine AT ALL. AT NO POINT IN THE GAME.

.....I don't buy Trinity Force in any of my Reksai games

Are you retarded?

Edit: Oh sorry correction, I built it my first game on her when I was blindly jungling and didn't even know how her tremorsense worked

Silly me copying mobafire

Well I play her as a jungler so for build wise in the jungle I prefer item 3707 item 3111 item 3044 item 3143 item 3078 item 3065 and well it's gg from there. Just figured I would share this info if you ever use her in the jungle again and wanted to see the general direction difference.

I could see Triforce working in the jungle, since you need MS to chase and move around the map, and the components are less expensive than Hydra

I might try her jungling again after looking up that camp juggling thing but still laning her for now

You have literally no idea how to build Reksai

BT rush? Sunfire Visage rush? Mallet + Stinger? The hell are you on?

Boom

You don't have to 1v5 the enemy team to be overpowered, otherwise Kayle would still be pick/ban

I get extremely fed every Reksai game I play, save one time I messed up laning against Darius

How would you not look at her Q and immediately go "hydra"

How the fuck do people still build BT on melees.

Also Trinity Force is fucking baller because it gives your Q more damage and gives you insane chasing potential. After I build Ravenous and Trinity I try to build full tank unless I'm just feeling arrogant.

You went against a teemo? How does she do against Satan himself?

I've had trouble in lane against Riven and Renekton. I stomped a Darius until Jax literally duo laned with him.

I don't go hydra because her main damage is already AOE and it takes too long to get going.

Almost every game I've played on her, my team expects me to be tanky. I don't get to just build damage and take all the kills. If I do, I get a lot of kills and 100% lose the game because that's all the other morons built as well.

I could just say screw it and dive in for a kill and then tunnel out 24/7, but with my luck, that DEFINITELY won't win me the game.

Last game I was the first to take tower, I was 2 kills up on a GNAR, who can actually fuck u up if he's good, then I looked to my team. They were ALL failing, even the jungler was 0-4 at that point and it didn't matter what I did from then on.

If you're the only one in a team NOT failing, guess where all the enemies are gonna go?

So try a bigger sample size and get some baddies on your team, then you'll start to see her shortcomings. I'm not satisfied with a great KDA if I know I'm gonna lose pursuing it.

That said, I stand by that she can win her lane against a lot of enemies, but in an uncoordinated soloqq, it doesn't matter much.

Hydra adds to your pushing power allowing you to be even better at split pushing. I've carried awful teammates just by securing turrets and keeping waves constantly pushed.

If your team needs a tank don't play Reksai.

Right now, his (your?) history was from team builder. You don't get counterpick options there. So you're gonna have to fight her against shit you don't want to fight against. If you entire team are only set on getting a good KDA, yes, you build tank.

Split pushing is when you're not 1v5 because all the other lanes failed already. Try teambuilder for a challenge.

I was considering Trinity, been going Brut -> Tiamat -> Belt -> Tabi -> Hydra -> Randuin's -> Cleaver -> etc

And I think I killed a Teemo one time, ended up lane swapping so Liss wouldn't have to lane against Yasuo that game

First Riven I laned against I accidentally gave FB and both summoners, then crushed her in lane with Q trades and sustain

TONS of champs can outscale and kill everything HOURS before she can.

Try fucking playing her before you yell about shit you have no clue about.

She is one of the best split pushers in the game and also a pretty good assassin. She's not a great teamfighter but she brings vision and a high damage knock up with high burst. She's a lot like Noct from what I can tell.

And yes I have played her.

Fastest MS in the game

Wow, I didn't know she has 360 movespeed, Rito nerf plz. Wait, she only has 335? Well that's just bad info then OP.

Can kill carries in under 2 seconds

How many kills did this Rek'Sai have? Because unless you're release date Xin Zhao, that's not possible.

Can outdamage and outtank people with 3-4 damage items

Ok, now you've completely lost me. You're completely talking out of your ass now. TankPlank does significant damage to glass cannon Rek'Sai, so you're full of shit.

Mega sustain in lane

She only gets sustain if she's engaging you. Ever heard of poke or hard CC? Or a gap closer? Or ignite?

Virtually ungankable due to spammable mobility

Her tunnels are extremely easy to remove. As for the tunnel ability itself, its cooldown ranges from a whopping 20-18 seconds without CDR. Let's compare that to another champion: Shaco. Shaco's blink is on a permanent 11 second cooldown at all ranks, with invisibiliy. So yeah, unless you're not destroying her tunnels, she doesn't get to blink around the map like Kassadin.

High base and High AD ratios even after pbe nerf

It's not base AD, it's bonus AD. And Gangplank has a higher AD and almost as big of AD scaling as she does.

Global ult mobility combined with Teleport makes her capable of splitpushing better than Trynd or Shen ever could

How many goddamn times do I have to say it? Destroy. The. Tunnels. See those red dots on the map? Step on those for 1 second. Literally just one little second. Just ooooone little second.

While I belive Rek'Sai is a little overtuned right now, I think you're just QQing because the scary void lady showed you the pain once. The reason why nobody is talking about her is because she really isn't that big of a deal. It's preseason, Riot's going to give her a little love tap, and then she's going to be fine, unless of course Riot nerfs all the other junglers as well.
