Why is Urgot not defined by his range when it's the only interesting thing he has?

You would think that when designing a kit as generic as new Urgots you would expect him being a RANGED juggernaut would take priority over anything else. Instead he follows the same priority as all the other basekit juggernauts that don't try to stand out; get in teamfight, hope you didn't die, pop off AOEs. Its the exact same playstyle at least 4 juggernauts already have, with the added forced meme of shotgun knees.

Even worse, despite being the newest model, Urgot has the least counter play. He doesn't work for his damage whatsoever; he presses W and rockets off 2.5 second CD shotgun procs for absurd damage and there is no timer on it at all. There is no downtime to his barrage of melee range damage; you just have to pray whatever you can do can outnumber him before his passive W overtakes you. No wonder Riot is rightfully keeping him in the swamp of mediocrity; they really messed up on this.

Itd have been much more interesting to see his kit be based around abusing his range and creating a midline artillery juggernaut. Riot has so many niches they seem averse to filling.

Urgot does have a prerequisite to get his damage off. His E is pretty much like Illaoi's, he's useless if he misses it. I do agree that he's very similar to other Juggernauts though, but there is emphasis on his range. While some of the other Juggs have point & click melee executes, Urgot's execute has 2,500 range but he has to aim it. Even more, I'd argue that being ranged isn't what makes Urgot stand out, but the fact that he's a walking turret.

urgot's attack range is 350 for comparison darius's attack range is 175

if urgot tries to auto attack darius, darius has a guaranteed q because of how short the range is lol w only unlocks at level 9 and the damage isn't absurd on w because the damage isn't in his w, it's in his passive legs abilities which in the late game do 6% maximum hp damage starting off at 2% as the game goes on, it looks like w is doing the damage because the passive legs have a requirement of an autoattack in the direction which is what his w is categorised as

urgot literally cannot do anything if he doesn't e you in the majority of scenarios, he has about 3 bad matchup's for every 1 he has and those goodmatch ups are niche at best
