This will allow supports to get real items faster and participate in the game in a way that more closely aligns with other positions. That's a good thing overall.
If it's too strong, all they have to do is reduce the stats on that item to bring them back in line. Ezpz

Support is one of the strongest roles in the game atm, so no, they do NOT need to "catch up" when they are already at the top, thats why this buff is ridiculous.
The balance team is completely out of touch with the game.
ModKnightsKemplar3 votesI'm not implying that they are weak; I'm just saying that their itemization is not like other champs; right now, they have basically two required items that other classes don't have.
With these changes, they'll be more like junglers in that they have one role-specific item, and it does everything they need it to do for their role (gold gen and vision for supp, rather than sustain and smite for junglers).

u don't see this as just making the support role into a second mid laner even more. I mean god knows as soon as blitz and Leona or champs like them are meta u nerf them to make sure whatever ap caster flavor of the month can fit into the role.

Maybe tanky supports can greed out for that type of build, but I don't have enough bot lane experience to know for sure.

Its almost like redemption and locket give health armor and mr + the actives.
Everyone will stop at the 2nd tier support item, get a free 800g sightstone and rush their broken items sooner, breaking the game again.

It's not like they reverted the buffs on these items and then removed sightstone.
Also, supports seem strong because adcs are used to beating everything early game.
