Can we gut Riven already? Riot needs to stop neglecting her retarded scaling.

I'm sick of having to /ff just because she got a single kill and will proceed to faceroll anybody afterwards. That's the exact same way Akali was and she got nerfed. Why not Riven?

She needs to get the Jax treatment. Gut the sh*t out of her early game and make her late game better. As it stands she becomes a hyper the moment she picks up a single kill.

"Just build armor you'll be fine" If a Riven sees even a cloth armor in your build you can guarentee that brut will be her first item. Shyvana Got item 3143 ! Riven lol m8 I got item 3134 Shyvana Ok, well now I have item 3068 Riven item 3035 lolm8 keep it cumin Shyvana Fuck you! item 3260 item 3075
Riven item 3074 item 3071 item 3142 lol m8 I aint even tryin Shyvana Fuck this game!

"Well Riven will be squishy when she builds nothing but damage so just blow her up!"

Riven Q Q Q Catch me if you can m8 Shyvana Fking mobility...GOTCHA Riven W lol l8r luzr Shyvana Fk this game ignites out of rage before she's out of range Riven E's plz. You aint got nuthin on me m8 turns around R Q Q Q R You have slain an enemy lel git gud

And no this didnt' happen in a real game.

Back on point this trash needs to be nerfed her base hp needs to be shitty just like Jax's early on. Her armor/mr need to be reduced at early levels. Her shield needs to scale with fking AP or HP not her damn AD. Late game I can understand her being a hyper carry like Yasuo/Jax/Tryn etc. but as it stands she might as well be full build the moment she loads into the rift with her retarded kit/scaling.

Am I the only one who doesn't think Riven is as broken as others say?

Also even with that build Riven has above, if Shyvana and Riven were to just outright duel without minions, Shyvana would win simply because the amount of lifesteal wouldn't counter the reflect.

If she gets behind she tends to stay behind.

Jamaree1 votes

Seriously, personally, I just play Volibear, buy five pots and a cloth and DON'T let her engage on me freely, oh no, I lose the early CS lead, who cares, I hit three then outtrade her.

Lore Ventus1 votes

There are ways =). My friend lost as Riven (man that graves burst). If, you miss 2 out of the 4 abilities in combat R.I.P Riven.

Trash MammaI1 votes

Then she hits 6 has brutalizer and proceeds to button smashing in your face and shielding any damage you try to do back ASSUMING you can trade since her 3rd Q and stun will keep you stuck long enough for her to trade and run.

Care to put your money where your mouth is?

Trash MammaI1 votes

I'd love to be proven wrong. It'd be like watching a Leblanc NOT escape any bad situation she's in

Jamaree1 votes

Alright, one vs one me then, you pick Riven, I will pick my champion, and since she is OP, it shouldn't matter right?

Lore Ventus1 votes

:O I want to watch if it is happening!!!

Jamaree1 votes

Annnnnd OP unsurprisingly goes quiet.

Lore Ventus1 votes

=/ oh well. Ty grand high elo player (Kinda hard to see....).

Jamaree2 votes

Not even that high elo, just tired of people blindly QQing then not even putting up real proof and just what ifs, idiocy pure and simple.

Trash MammaI1 votes

OP went to sleep actually and ask one of your friends and ill spectate. I don't play Riven nor would I ever want to become a scumbag and play her.

Jamaree1 votes

Stay bad then, stay bad.

Ashell Seasucker1 votes

I will say i agree with you, she isnt that hard to play against as long as you think a litle bit about what you are doing. Also people tend to go ham on her for the to be killed instead of having small trades to poke her down

Jamaree3 votes

Seriously, it like they don't realize that some champions are lane bullies, you don't try and all in against a Riven unless you are 100% sure you can, you poke and make tiny trades then heal back up and repeat until you can secure the kill.

LadyRenly3 votes

you want to "gut" her, aka you don't give a crap about balance, you just have a personal vendetta

Trash MammaI1 votes

Yes, I want to gut her...her EARLY GAME if you actually read. She doesn't need a stupidly good early game and still have that strong mid game and hyper carry late game

Jamaree3 votes

She is only a hyper carry if she is fed, if not, then she is only ok, stop feeding her, and her mid game actually isn't all that good unless once again fed.

Trash MammaI1 votes

No, she's a hyper carry once she gets a kill. In top lane a kill basically decides the lane which is only true in certain matchups. In Riven's case a single kill DOES decide the lane. Unless she has down syndrome you can't win any trades with her after that. You can't try to build against her because it's just not happening.

Your best bet is to ask for a gank in which it'll be pointless because of lolmuhmobility.

Then don't give her a kill, you haven't said anything that can't be said about just about every other top laner. Unless you are hard counterpicking, once someone gets a kill in top, that person tends to dominate.

Then win your lane without a gank, stop playing squishy champions against her.

Riven sure can be annoying, but there are several champions that have no problem against her. I have a friend who plays Riven almost exclusively and he's currently D2, so my knowledge about her comes straight from that guy.

Champions/items that makes it really hard for Riven. According to my friend, Pantheon is his biggest nightmare, whenever he sees a pantheon, he shits his pants, pantheon can just bully Riven and by that deny her any chance of getting fed. Kennen running exhaust is also tough for Riven, it's sort of hard for Riven to get close enough to fight, and when she does she gets exhausted and killed. Maokai, Renekton or Sion going tank is also really annoying for her.

If you want to beat Riven, all you need to do is not die, i understand that if you pick a bad champion against Riven and she kills you early, there's no coming back (most of the time). However, counter her with Pantheon or just outlast her with a tank and she can't do much at all (assuming you don't play bad and gives her a kill for no reason).

Is she too strong? Against some champions in the early/mid game, yes. Does she have counterplay? Yes. Does she need nerfs? Probably not.

Hell I find myself using Garen as a solid Riven counter. By the time the silence has ended, her health is almost already at half health and uses the rest of her kit when the silence ends to run away. Even if she does stay and fight, the damage and short cc and be mitigated easily by his W and he can easily heal back up without backing to base thanks to his passive

Leti the Yeti2 votes

I will admit that her crap tons of dashes being used as an escape mechanism is way more annoying than as a means of fighting

also wtf AD scaling shield

i dont care too much about the rest of her

Nekratulian2 votes

A simple fix would be to put energy in as a means of gating her resources given her scaling is self-synergizing (AD based shield, and a multiplicative AD steroid in her ult).

Like Lee Sin, the energy replenish aspect of her kit could be tied to her passive, Runic Blade so if on the offensive - she wouldn't play too differently when properly chaining AAs between ability activations, but if she's retreating - she'll run out of energy if she fails to hit anything with basic AAs for too long, meaning her sustained escape potential would be lowered.

I wonder if giving her a Volibear-style treatment to her Q would help with her mobility - make it where her Q travels further if she's Q-ing towards an enemy champion, and travels a shorter distance if she is Q-ing away from an enemy champion. This will make her more all-in and less "cant catch me."

Nekratulian2 votes

I don't think number wise that's feasible - as the current live iteration of broken wings is only ever so slightly above her MS with T2s. So if that were the case - and a distance differential was put in between moving away or towards enemy champions a couple of things (desirable or undesirable) would occur.

Possibility 1). The bonus distance towards Qing towards champions becomes overbearingly difficult to kite/evade, bearing in mind that barring hard CC, she'll continue to travel the full distance of the Q (as its currently programmed on live). Possibility 2). The decreased range from Qing away from champions may make it so that it would be undesirable to activate Q altogether during an escape if the net distance covered is LESS than her natural movement speed progression with items.

On a side note, I don't think this really addresses the core issue of her rather limited windows of weakness which makes her so frustrating to play against - but that's just my 2 cents on the matter.

DatPikachuTho1 votes

No, that does totally make sense. I was unaware that her Q movespeed was that low to begin with. Though I do think that gating distance with direction is a cool and useful tool, I suppose it wouldn't work in this case.

Nekratulian1 votes

Though the idea does intrigue me with regards to how it could help someone who sits on the opposite end of the spectrum and is in a rather poor spot; Kha'Zix.

Gaining bonus MS passively towards isolated targets might help him get the opportunistic picks he desires, without tweaking damage numbers, or in this case - constantly forcing him to be hyper aggressive with his escape/engage mechanisms to outflank his desired targets.

ImFlutterShy1 votes

Agreed. They need to decrease her base movement speed to 325 and reduce her scalings to 0.3 AD on every ability and give her a longer stun on her W to compensate. Im so fucking tired of this disgustingly overpowered champion oneshotting my whole team while being unkillable.

I think the AA reset on Q that happened on the PBE should come back. And then she can be balanced around that.

I think the biggest issue with her is that those who have mastered her are in fact OP. Because she does have a heavy learning curve with a lot of little mechanics to learn. Biggest one resetting your AA after Q which gives her a huge damage boost vs someone who doesn't understand the mechanic. Riot has to balance between both sides. If Q's damage was lowered but always AA'd right after I think it'd make a big difference for all elo's.

Then the pros would get SO mad

Far as I know there are not many pros that actually play her that much. Mainly because she's not viable in the LCS.

There are a lot of streamers that would get mad. But in 10 years their wrist will thank them.

You do realize that Riven already got gutted right? She was decent to good in s3 and she's pretty much trash tier now, she has about one winning matchup vs anyone decent in the current meta. So let's talk about what your problem really is and why you think champions like Akali and Riven (who were both gutted in s3) are OP:

  1. any champion you feed can and will snowball out of control, it doesn't matter who if you die more than 1-2 times in laning.

  2. if you only build defense after you're behind significantly you'll never outpace dmg, you get a little bit of defense (against Riven it's HP not armor btw) and then you build some dmg so you can kill her when your jungler ganks.

  3. when you're behind you can't just pretend you're not and run right into lane for the CS when she's just going to all in you - in other words - you need to know how to plY the matchup from ahead and behind.

That's the number one reason people lose to Riven, they just CAN'T make themselves play safe and they take free dmg and then they try to fight when she can execute with her ult. She is not good, especially now that she has no sustain and her shield is basically worthless. You just need to deny her exp, gank her at 3:30 and keep her from getting anything. Riven scales really well with levels, she isn't very good at all when you're even in levels. Champs like Shyvana can dumpster her, same with Renekton or Olaf or Darius or Pantheon.

I hate this phrase but this is an l2p problem.

I pick up Kennen and just laugh as she dies. Over and over and over.

personally i feel she just needs to use energy as a resource. I don't think she is that bad besides being able to spam spells for infinite mobility across the map...
