why can't we QSS knock ups? Don't tell me its solely for Yasuo

I'm tired of this single champion getting so many love taps and exceptions when the champion I play, Ryze, gets constantly hammered and reworked and his items nerfed until he's barely playable in solo Q and hardly decent in pro-play because of his ult

It's not because of Yasuo. As far as I know, you never could QSS or cleanse knock ups.

Yes and no. My understanding is that if you use QSS while knocked up you're then free to cast a dash (maybe other spells and attacks as well?) to move. I've never tried it myself, but it's one of those oddball cases that you hear about every once in a while.

Do you mean knock ups in general or Yasuo? Because I believe you actually can QSS his ult.

I never build QSS (my champions can’t really use it) so I never tested.

Knock Ups in general.

When you’re knocked up you’re also stunned. You can QSS the stun but cannot remove airborne. You can flash after you QSS but you’re still airborne

ALL MłGHT1 votes

that doesn't answer my question

QSS and tenacity never worked on knock ups

ALL MłGHT1 votes

Right, but why? A knock up is CC

Ralanr2 votes

A knock up is hard CC, but it is coded differently from stuns or roots. Basically you can’t unknock yourself up.

ALL MłGHT2 votes

if that is the case then if you’re stunned, you cannot unstun yourself. Additionally, since when did they start applying real life physics to the game?

Ralanr2 votes

Except you’re not stunned. You’re knocked up.

ALL MłGHT1 votes

I'm applying what you said about not being able to "un knock up" yourself.

Ralanr2 votes

What I was trying to explain was that knock ups are coded somewhat differently from roots or stuns, so they aren't affected by QSS. You can use QSS to unstun or unroot yourself because of how it's coded, but not knock ups.

I wasn't trying to bring in real life physics. I apologize if you misunderstood my explanation.

So the ONLY reason why QSS doesn't work on knock ups is because they're coded differently. Would it be difficult to code it to where QSS can work on knock ups?

Ralanr1 votes

Idk. I don't code. Though I suppose it is possible, but Riot probably won't do it. The counterplay to knock ups is to dodge the effect. Which is why point and click knock ups are a problem.

ALL MłGHT1 votes

I guess the question now is why wouldn't Riot do it? The funny thing is that most mages don't have knock up CC

Ralanr1 votes

Because they want to encourage the counterplay to knock ups being good positioning?

ALL MłGHT1 votes

Position your self under a tower that doesn't defend you that well versus a Yasuo that E, Q under you and if he feels like pressing R it will put him outside of turret range. Of all the knock ups in the game, Yasuo is pretty much the only one I have a huge problem with. Dodging his 3rd Q is probably the least enjoyable thing in the game since dodging one doesn't mean I'll dodge the next one that comes in 6 seconds.

Yasuo's tornado last's six seconds. So when it's up you know he's going to engage you in some way. Avoid setting yourself up for that. Don't stand too close to minions and dodge the ranged tornado (which has an annoying hitbox honestly).

Not true, you can and could always QSS knockups, you just need QSS+blink. Knockups prevent non ability movement, and prevent abilities via having a stun with it. QSS removes the stun, and flash overrides the displacement.

Ralanr1 votes

Please tell me you have videos of this. I would love to see.

Pika Fox1 votes

You can try it yourself in a custom. Searching specifically for it on youtube is a pain, but its most commonly seen in high elo on ezreal if they ever get QSS.

Yasuo's ult is different form other knockups. Yasuo's Q is a knockup, but his ult is just a suspension which is different from a knockup. It doesn't extend the knockup duration it just keeps you in the air and essentially acts as a stun. So once the knockup duration of whatever put you in the air is over, then you can QSS Yasuo's ult.

Pika Fox1 votes

You can QSS knockups. You need to QSS +blink. GP can orange+flash any knockup. Ez can QSS+E any knockup.

ALL MłGHT1 votes

You can QSS the STUN associated with the knock up, but not the knock up itself. Being knocked up makes you airborne and stunned. QSS removes the stun but not the airborne.

Pika Fox1 votes

Which allows you to use movement abilities to get out of said displacement.

Pokemonred2001 votes

Well if you look at it logically, you can shake off the feeling of being stunned pretty quickly, but there's nothing that will make you go from 'in the air' to 'on the ground' instantly.

ALL MłGHT1 votes

Okay, since we're looking at it logically you can still fight someone or retaliate in some way while airborne whereas when you're stunned you don't know the duration of the stun AND you're unconscious. How do you know you can shake off the stun? How do you know the strength of the stun?
