Duskblade has been reworked like 3 times and all 3 versions have been problematic
i think the item should be removed
i think the item should be removed

I see it. Ryze's 8th rework, he has both AD and AP scaling, with current hp, max hp and missing hp damage. Duskblade is exclusively for Ryze, and he now sits at a 90% winrate, with no counterplay, as his snare is now a 5 seconds stun (Got the idea from the 2 bot matches I played in DotA), and can go invis at any moment. Also your keyboard needs to look like this just so you can perform all of Ryze's abilities

The only sentence I agree with you on is the last one.
No, actually all of it is true, but to pull it off properly you must at least be able to play like this.
If you squint that's Elise
So I looked into elise again, and the only image I have to post is

LOL, that's unfortunately, and ironically pretty accurate.
If only they'd actually just change him instead of trying to keep all his core abilities and kit when it's his goddamn core kit and abilities that break him in the first place
It's like trying to rework a hammer to be a nail but attempting to keep it a hammer. Nothing is gonna change.
It's almost like making a champ whose main damage source is a skillshot is invalidated by giving them a point-and-click snare.

Had to think for a second, but post of the year winner right here.
It's been reworked once and since then has only had slight changes, a recipe change, and number changes. The first iteration was complete ass. This post is all wrong lol.
u tell truth to da goats, u get da downvotes
That's the herd of sheep for ya ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Was it really bad though? I remember it, it was like a mini Zed ult, and on my opinion it was completely fine.

It was very good and literally every assassin player preferred it. It was actually reworked because ADCs were abusing it and they wanted to make it a more assassin-esque item hence the stealth proc.
Was garbage, and most assassin didn't even build it at the time... a delayed proc in league of shield/heal ? bad build path, useless passive, high cost, no cdr... was all but good.

Dude it had amazing killing power and even 75 damage. It gave assassins a chance against adc's whom now struggle against.
no, the new one gave assasssins a chance, and was changed for this goal. As talon main u should remember this !!!
Yes it was awful and extremely unreliable. It had a measly 90 base damage on the mini zed ult and only 10 armor pen. Ghostblade gave double the amount of armor pen and comparable AD for 50 less gold. If you screwed up your combo or the enemy support was able to mitigate a lot of your damage the mini zed ult would do almost no damage. The only time it was good was when you were able to land your whole combo on them and get them down to 15-50% hp which is hard to do with 4 people peeling for the carries and having a time frame of 2 seconds to do it. People bought it a lot the first patch it came out, but then realized it was garbage and went Ghostblade instead. The current iteration is much more reliable and a better rush item.
Wasn't there a time where it had true damage equal to base + 2x lethality or something?
That was the damage it initially had when they reworked it, but when lethality got changed around to scale with your own level they changed how the damage was calculated and changed it to physical. The effect was still the same. They eventually added the slow and nerfed it for ranged champions.
dfg, too op on mages, removed duskblade being built on everybody? a-ok
Both dfg were terrible
the lethality build is the problem. Stacking lethality and having khazix be able to 1 hit people is a load of shit.
he doesnt one hit people, he uses 1 combo and gets the kill on targets that are building no armor
That is the point of lethality, and also the point of assassins.
That said, I have no idea why Kha is getting buffs in 8.2, he doesnt need them
Are you really trying to argue this shit about kha? He has one spammable spell+passive. Both are nukes the rest of his kit might just be non existant in terms of damage. And kha does pretty much onehit squishies. Q+AA=dead squishy.
Duskblade is a crutch for assassins.
The problem isn't with assasins using it, it's always with the non-intended users abusing it.
If you remove it, you have to buff assassins.
Post assassin-update, Riot added more counterplay to assassins; however, that goes against their identity. Assassins need to kill targets instantly or they become useless, because that's their entire purpose. Even now, with the duskblade crutch, many assassins still struggle to kill things like Vayne, in between all the shielding and healing.
If assassins don't instantly delete targets, they just get peeled off, bursted, cc'd, and lifestealed on.
So when Riot did the assassin update and extended burst windows, many of them just didn't work well without duskblade, which gave them basically the free instant burst that people were complaining about beforehand (albeit smaller amount of dmg). That's one of the main reasons you don't see the old diverse AD builds from assassins pre-assassin update (Hydra, Bt, Botrk, Cleaver earlier on, etc).
When Riot extended the assassin burst time, it severely crippled them, so the class had to be compensated in other ways. Duskblade is one of the primary reasons the AD assassins are even viable.
If you nerf or remove duskblade, then ad assassins will need pretty significant compensation buffs. Taking away duskblade from assassins would be like removing cleaver from Juggernauts or IE from ADCs; duskblade is essential to the AD assassins.
So maybe return more damage to their kits, and only give utility to the assassin items? I think a slow on first auto is pretty balanced way of increasing reliability, as is the movement speed from Ghostblade and spell shield on Edge of Night. Some sort of stealth might also be great for assassins, but I can see too many abuse cases for those with stealth already. Same with more mobility.

You can't really give utility to assassins because that goes against their identity. Assassins are supposed to basically:
Do dmg real fast, get to and kill someone, then get out.
It's not a team playstyle, and assassins have never really been geared towards helping their team. It doesn't fix the problem with their reliability, because they don't have issues getting to their target (most assassins post-rework now have an easier time getting to their targets), but just that they can't do enough dmg fast enough, and quickly enough.
GIving them a slow won't stop the lifesteal, the shields, the heals, and so on.
Assassins being solo carries entirely revolved around removing one (or more) people from the game is toxic. I have no idea how Riot can fix this.
And yeah, stealth would be awesome, but it's a pretty toxic mechanic that's easily abused if it's on an item (dota)
Can we remove zed along with it?
Take a steamy crap on assassin and he also gets camped.
No matter, once he buys his MeMeBlade of DankTharr
it's over.
Proceeds to pull damage out of the ass, goes from 0/5 to 10/5 and carry game despite best efforts.
Not to mention its passively tells what bushes are warded.
Remove stupid item when?
Why is it a problem for Ezreal to be able to half health you with a single Q from Dusk Blade and a Trinity Force Proc? That's not unhealthy at all

? Ezreal Q with Muramana Triforce will half health you, too. Duskblade on Ezreal is extremely cheesy and overall worthless because if you're going to do that, you might as well just get Dark Harvest and do the same thing, except then he's literally an artillery reset assassin with a better build path. (Manamune's way cheaper and does more damage once stacked, and it stacks extremely fast now. Sub 15 isn't even uncommon if you're snowballing.) However, Duskblade requires you Q within a certain time of being seen to proc, literally just sit out of his Q range until he can't duskblade you anymore.
Duskblade is alright on Jungle I guess since you'd usually be able to proc it once or twice due to the nature of the role, but I think Jungle Ez is gonna be pretty much dead since they nerfed the scaling of his Q and now the base damage as well in the early levels, since his extremely effective early clear and early presence was very high. His clear and early damage are probably going to be too slow and low to fight off any invades, or even do any invading safely.
TL;DR: Ez with duskblade is pitiful unless you're already snowballing a game, in which case there are still much better options.
Just remove the item.
Overloaded item
IMO everyone who complains about/upvotes complaints regarding duskblade should be insta demoted to bronze 4.
And their champ roster should be limited to melee AD assassin champs only till they climb out of bronze to Silver 5.

I don't give a fuck about asassins; seen an ADC with duskblade bursting everything is what worries me.
I think Lethality should be removed in general at times But the real problem is just how over-stuffed it is. It doesn't need to let you deal extra damage, give you 10% CDR and blind wards while you destroy them.
The op part is the vision part of the damage passive imho
let me clarify
the passive lets you know if you have been spotted as long as you got that proc passive up you are not spotted
kinda bs
Yes. It should.
IMO, Duskblade's Nightstalker passive is great thematically on an Assassin. A vision control tool that helps you clear the enemy vision and set up your ambushes.
The proc though is just a bandaid solution to (AD) assassin problems atm though. Said problem being getting enough damage to kill an ADC viably. Because the game is entirely decided around the ADC in most cases.
true
So assassins can struggle even more? No thanks. Assassins aren't even the ones abusing the item. Talon's damage basically comes from this item now hence his drastic winrate drop. I guess it's cool though to hate on assassins..
To be honest though, edge of night is the item that needs reworked. It's completely useless. Like why do you have to activate it instead of it already being active like banshee's veil? The only time anyone ever builds this item is for the lethality.
They were fine without it. They didn't need it.
they weren't. They weren't even able to make an adc mid hp with their whole combo against supp shield. As lux, morgana, insert sup u are short memored...
Did you play before the time of Duskblade? I did. I remember. Assassins were able to kill who they needed, the squishies just fine. They only started having problems when Riot introduced all the shield and healing buffs n items.
i did. But after their rework and new supp item they couldn't os anymore (along adc buff itemization)
I think the problem with Duskblade is with how it's been designed to cater to assassins: as a class, assassins are, or at least should be, defined by high natural burst. While every damage champion should obviously rely on items to supplement their damage, assassins should not need to rely on an item to become bursty, which is ultimately what Duskblade aims to do. Because every iteration of it ended up adding burst damage to its wielder, it has always ended up being abused by champions who aren't, or at least shouldn't be innately bursty, as is the case now for several divers. Additionally, because its current mode of damage application is on-hit upfront burst, it also tends to remove counterplay on a lot of AD assassins, particularly when compared to AP assassins, whose damage is much more back-loaded and dependent on abilities that can miss.
Because of this, I think Duskblade, and assassin itemization in general, should aim not to make the class more bursty, but to give effects that complement their innate burst. I think being able to create vision blackouts is a fine idea, and I think it could be interesting to elevate assassins as the premier anti-vision class in the game, as it would complement their theme and open up more stealth avenues without having to resort to invisibility or camouflage. In this respect, I think Duskblade still has a niche it could cover, even if I also think its on-hit damage/slow needs to go completely.
