Riots balance team right now: "nothing is broken if everything is broken."

Honestly, I don't mind that. I think that's a really good way to balance.

I wouldn't go that far lol

Dota2 has a different way of balance

their balance is "it's balanced if everyone does different things" and in league, mages are almost all the same same for enchenters same for divers and 50% of adc

yeah that's the only issue. Many of the kits are pretty generic, so you end up just having 2-3 champions from a certain class shining over the rest because they all do the same thing. That's why I don't mind some of the crazier changes that are giving champions ways to be more versatile so they aren't so pigeon-holed into one play style. And based on some of these changes, one could argue that it's just making everything overpowered. We will see I suppose.

Dota has an item that makes you invisible and do bonus damage when you attack out of stealth tho. If dats balanced there, dota is opieop xd

funny enough I was going to make a thread that edge of night should give stealth lol

Dota has a hero who has a large range AOE nuke that deals more damage the more enemy units are hit by it with no cap, and grants her movement speed, an equivalent to a 117% attack speed steroid for 5 seconds which heals her for 300 HP over the duration, and removes any form of cc (She can use it on allies), a 25% chance to counterattack with bonus lifesteal of upto 80% on being attacked, with the secondary attack applying all on hit effects, and a point and click taunt that that silences both her and you for 5 odd seconds forcing you two to attack each other. The winner of this gets upto 58 bonus damage permanently scaling infinitely. And she can purchase an item that prevents any outside interruption to this mini battle , and makes her magic immune while inside this effect. This champion has the 9th lowest winrate in Dota2.

EDIT: As pointed out by some of my Dota2 playing buddies, what is OP in one game may not be considered OP under a different set of rules and mechanics. For example, in Dota2, the very idea of manaless champions seems borderline broken, but in League, the idea of an item that deals 800 magic damage on a 16 second cooldown is absolutely ridiculous. However each game has ways to gate the power and efficacy of these items and / or champions/heroes. That's because the core mechanics of the game while being the same ( 5 characters, three lanes, towers, inhibs, Nashor/Roshan, Jungle , Ancient/Nexus) the underlying mechanics are startlingly different. RIght from the way supports acquire gold, to the accepted lane structure and beneficial statistics from items and their interaction with different champions and what not.

not everything is broken though, that's the issue, the champions I actually enjoy playing are garbage Ryze Aatrox Ezreal etc.. so I'm put at an inherent disadvantage for playing champions I think are fun. people tell me to play twitch and malzahar, but those champions aren't fun at all in my eyes.

i honestly think it would be a lot more fun if they did do it that way.

I also think it's a step in the right direction, although I would prefer it if every champ was broken because their weaknesses weren't so exaggerated. I think that would be even better.

Essentially the same logic as:

"Hey, we accidentally broke that guy's driver seat window on his car. Let's just destroy the whole car so he won't notice the window is broken."

It's an interesting thought.

Ahristocats2 votes

except that your logic doesn't make sense

because he will realise the entire car is broken while right now, we don't notice the game is broken because if everyone is broken no one is

Pie Cubed1 votes

That's not the point. Point is, Rito: let's destroy the whole game instead of reverting and using logic!

That's like CoD: MW2 levels of balancing though.
