You are not good at a champion until you can consistently perform well at a variety of times.
I'm going to start off this post with a story. I have a friend from school who is very nice, but he has one issue. He always spams the FOTM champions in order to win. When he wins he gloats about how good he is at the champion, while not really being all that good at them. (For example, his season 6 mains were Udyr, Zed, Graves, then post buff Vlad). He was literally the definition of a FOTM player. He'd "main" a champion for some period of time then once they got nerfed or good counterplay against them was discovered he would get destroyed a few times and his self confidence in the game would decrease significantly until eventually he quit.
I'm not going to lie when I say this, I'm guilty of this too. I'm not a huge FOTM player but I've always thought myself to be good at a champion until I run into a few situations where people have learned to counter me, then I just stop playing them because I'm not good at them anymore.
There are bigger problems that can stem from this inflated idea of skill. If you play 6 games of Lee Sin against people who don't understand how to play against Lee Sin, land 2/3 insec kicks, and proceed to call yourself a Lee Sin god and go into ranked to get yourself to plat, you could negatively impact a lot of games.
Skill in this game is not KDA, it's not CS/min, it's not decision making, it's not mechanics, it's a consistent winrate and performance on a champion or role in a solo environment.
That may include good KDA, good CS, good decision making, good mechanics, and many other things, but consistency is what matters. If you are consistent in winning 6 out of 11 games, you will climb. Everyone can do incredibly well on
(for example) in one game, but can you do incredibly well on them over 50% of the time in all the games you play?
). Just don't pick her into tank lanes. Doesn't work out usually.
this guy, even if you think she op cancer its a great feel ulting singed players and then kiling them without having to chase
and the ms from q and q2 90% slow on w stun on e with 2 dashes to force out singed fling if you hold on to fling for when she ults she is just going to kill you without it because she can. once singed flings you is easy to get back on him an ult to secure the kill
: Lost my lane max 3 times. Have 69% win rate. Played 2 rankeds this year. my team fed like no tomorrow in both of my games. I mean if you are going 2/12 on bot lane its obviously your fault. And they proceed to blame you for their mistakes. He says why dont you protect me in tf. Whats the point of protecting some1 who does an absolute no damage...
were the only way to win Ranked as a Support main. I used to die often as
(my main) so I abandoned her to get with the meta. However despite winning more, I would also lose games and fail to help bot lane survive long enough.
) and climb. I ended up Platinum last Season having a 53% win rate on Leona over 300+ games. So yeah play your main religiously and i'm sure you can outplay your enemies if you know your main well enough. Sure you might suck sometimes and lose games regardless, but you'll likely do better because you're so in sync with your main that most situations are easier to solve now.

first got re-worked, it was such a strange and awesome thing to see the undead warrior theme reworked. But when he first was out, he was considered to be in a very poor state in terms of gameplay. He was clunky, there were bugs everywhere and his ult could be stopped by spamming the Hold key. But i picked him up, and loved his kit, even in the shitty state he was in. Eventually he was bugfixed, buffed in certain areas and hes been basically left alone since then. I think I've played Sion around 85% of my games since his release. He's such an awesome slow, but giant powerhouse, kinda like King Dedede in the SSB series.
lost lane 3 times in the last season.
