Rageblade is trash tier again. For starters can we have it give the AS of it's components?

Gosh Darn··77 votes·3,402 views

Rageblade went from trash, to insane, to okay, and back to trash after the most recent rework. One of the biggest issues with it is that it inexplicably has stats vastly different from it's components. Instead of just leaving the exact same AS, AP, and AD from it's components, it LOSES all AS and gains AD and AP. If it just kept the same stats as it's components, it would have similar gold efficiency and would still be a slow item that has to ramp up to be effective. All that would happen is it would be a tiny bit better on champions who rely on AS, aka every single champion who buys rageblade.

Honestly it needs some buffs to be viable on anyone besides Kayle, but unless/until that happens, the super weird loss of AS needs to be addressed.

False. Being a one trick vayne i can honestly tell you that it does work on some champions. Especially vayne as it can double proc BOTRK and also allow her W to proc every 2 hits rather than 3 which can be a huge advantage.

Irelia Bot24 votes

Can work and actually being a good choice are 2 different things.

I have seen AP riven work but that does not mean it is a good idea in the slightest.

Sinlaire7 votes

which is hilarious because she has 0 AP scalings anywhere.

i remember at one point Riven was 1 of 3 physical damage based champions in the game that has zero magic damage and ap scalings. dunno if any reworks or new champs have screwed those numbers, but that's impressive.

Irelia Bot2 votes

2 Gunblades and lich bane was the core of the build

This was back when lich bade provided 100% of AP as on hit physical damage and gunblades stacked.

Add in a deathcap and hourglass and you have an AP riven build that worked well enough to get fed in a game.

There was also the bug where you could ult, use the shockwave, hit Zhonyas and then use the shockwave again.

I think that was in the game for a long time before finally getting fixed

not trying to sound like a dick, but what works in Bronze is kind of irrelevant

It's more like, what's extremely obscure is irrelevant. AP Varus, Sona Mid, full AD insert top laner, ect aren't counted for much.

Well , it was working on higher elo's back then when it was strong wasn't it ? It was working on high elo Kog Maw players wasn't it ? Your coment is irrelevant and you sound like a dick right now .

Eedat5 votes

Yeah and Azir was working in higher ELOs back before they nerfed him too. Doesnt mean hes still good now

Rageblade Vayne was never good with any iteration of rageblade. Neither was devourer Vayne. Rageblade was good on Kog until his rework got reverted. Now, it's a strictly inferior option on anyone who isn't Kayle. It is not situational. It is not a niche item. It sucks.

Twisted fate! No one likes hybrid TF tho

It's not terrible on teemo

Not strictly terrible, but the best builds won't use it.

Just like Zephyr.

How's this relevant? You are comparing how effective is item that gives AD+AP on champion that has only AD scaling and champion that has both AD and AP (even if we ignore basic attacks, at least the AD stat doesn't go in total waste on KM like AP goes on Vayne).

Well , it was working on higher elo's back then when it was strong wasn't it ?

How's this relevant? We are talking current iteration of Rageblade.

Your coment is irrelevant and you sound like a dick right now .

So guess who's post is irrelevant.

It is a situational item, People have different opinions. Guinsoos works very well on vayne because whilst you may be receiving AP from the item, you aren't getting it for that aspect or the bonus of its stacks. you are getting it for its passive when you are AT max stacks. This is what people do not understand.

Gosh Darn4 votes

No we understand it, the problem is that you're paying 3600g for basically nothing but AS and the phantom hit, and even then it requires stacking. She scales better with standard ADC items, there's nothing more to it.

Narvuntien3 votes

I agree items shouldn't be only build on one champion.. sometimes. Situational is only relevent if that situation comes up a reasonable amount of the time.. e.g thornmail against all AD team.. not I got fed this game and I guess I can invest in this item. (With the exception of mejais)

I do really Like Kayle, and I like how she plays so wildly different depending on the items you buy, so I actually don't want Rageblade to be a must buy. I want Rageblade to be playable on champions like Teemo and Warrick.. perhaps an option for Azir, Diana, Irelia, Twitch, Xin and Jax.

What if... you combined it with the old zephyr? As your rage builds you become harder and harder to stop. Ramping up tenacity and attack speed, but losing the increasing AD and AP. just building from pick axe, wand like it used to.

Rebonack3 votes

It needs to be split into two items.

One an AD/AP/IAS option that gives OnHit damage (physical damage that scales with AP and magic damage that scales with bonus AD)-

-and the other a giant attack speed stick that has the Phantom Hit passive.

Golden Tager X1 votes

That really sounds like something that would cause on-hit hybrid Akali to completely break the game.

AirKingNeo2 votes

Yeah Rageblade needs buffs. Seriously, it's a joke of an item right now. Kayle builds it, but some Kayle players aren't building it much anymore. No other champion builds it. Jax doesn't, Xin Zhao doesn't (Nor should), Yi doesn't, Kog'Maw doesn't.

The item needs serious buffs. Hybrid itemization for hybrid champions sucks right now, just look at Gunblade. There's a few options: First: make it usable on melee champions. Second: make Phantom Hit occur vs towers. Third: revert to pre-mage update, change to current build path but costs 3200 total instead of 3600. Fourth: final option with 3rd, make a new item that builds out of Recurve Bow + Recurve Bow + Dagger + Dagger. 75% AS, 50 on hit physical damage, Unique Passive: Phantom hit every 3rd hit. Costs 3600 gold.

Shadow Hazard2 votes

Take the same build path.

+35 AD +40AP +25% attack speed passive: On hit deal 15(+15% bonus AD)(+7.5% AP) magic damage to your target Unique passive - Guisinoo's Rage: gain bonus AD equal to 30% total AP and bonus AP equal to 15% of bonus AD, gaining a stat of rage each basic attack(max 6). Each stack gives +3 AD, +4% attack speed, and +4 AP

For the phantom hit passive that seems to have been in a state of too good (good ol' devourer with built in 60 on hit damage with the phantom hit inflating that further), or a useless niche save for basically otherwise abuse cases (attack speed cap breaking kog, and current kayle with this current rageblade). The passive would be enjoyed on a lot of champs, but maybe you could consider putting it on an item without an on hit that rivals base AD (devourer) in it's premitigation damage on most champs mid game heck you can remove the on hit damage from the item and it would still be chosen for the phantom hit alone.

gain bonus AD up to

That way, it won't be rushed by everyone and their mother.

Golden Tager X2 votes

You might want to reverse those Ap to Ad and Ad to Ap scalings, Don't want Veigar getting 450 Ad to compliment 1200 Ap now do we?

rageblade has to be trash tier in order to keep bloodrazor -> rageblade from ever happening and to prevent xin jax and yi from dominating the meta like before devourer was removed, which was honestly the least fun ive ever had in league of legends

also, any buffs to rageblade could break kayle and do to her what triforce did to irelia. however there are some pros to buffing it that would actually help champions like tristana not be trash tier

DorkunedAuras1 votes

Why would trist buy rageblade?

Ehlekar1 votes

When rageblade did AOE before Devourer was changed to Bloodrazer, it meant Trist could waveclear ridiculously well with Runaans+Rageblade

resumed1 votes

3 of tristanas abilities have ap scalings (all except her q and passive), tristana is an attack speed champion, would also open up other build paths with more on-hit items like bork

Even at the time that she build Guinsoo's Rageblade, it was only because it would allow her mid game to be good. Most pro players would sell Rageblade very later in the game for another more useful item because going standard crit was better for late game.

Mirkhail2 votes

Only ranged hybrid AA reliant champions can even justify buying rageblade, and only kayle is left.

Iil vayne1 votes

The entire point of guinsoos is that it is a situational item and shouldn't be sought after as a first/primary item in any kit. Other than 5.0 kogmaw, i presume.. It'd be too OP if it was buffed as it would change the likelihood of being bought on some champions and made into a must have item, thus breaking multiple champions who benefit from it more than others.

AirKingNeo9 votes

No, the point of it was it's supposed to be an IE but for Onhit champions. Which is Kayle and Jax.

Sadly, it isn't even built by the 2nd best Kayle NA every game. Jax doesn't build it at all.

Golden Tager X1 votes

Actually it was originally supposed to be a berserker item.

AirKingNeo1 votes

Not the current version but yes.

Erractic Eick1 votes

I don't know. I still build it on Jax, although I fully admit it doesn't matter since I'm not even a Bronzy.

Elikain1 votes

Rageblade is trash? Why? Because champions who use it are out of the meta currently?

That's the only reason why you're not seeing it more often as no current champions need that on-hit damage and effect as the usual AD itemization (and fighter itemization) gets the job done.

Gosh Darn1 votes

Kayle is in the meta and she's the only champion that builds it, and even then a lot of professional players never build it on her. Jax, Irelia, and most of the other champions who built it before it was shit are still in meta. The only champions out of meta that built rageblade are Yi and Udyr.

It's not being used because it's absurdly expensive and the stacks take too long for it to be viable with those trash stats.

Robert Smith1 votes

I Buy it on Yi, Trust me you do not want buffs on this item. It already works on a select few, making it stronger might break the item

yeah some times even with 80% crit i get many unlucky hits that are not crits. Sometimes i hit an enemy 5 times without a single crit

However crits allow you do burst down carries and the damage ain't bad against tanks either

You dare say it dealing AOE damage, hydra-like, was "okay"?

No.

No.

Dealing 30 - 40 AoE magic damage was the item biggest problem

Saianna1 votes

Tell that to item 3091 -.-

AirKingNeo2 votes

Actually it was fine. The price and stats wasn't.

Saianna1 votes

Sigh.. I still remember that stupid rageblade spam on every Yi and Kogmaw.

OK, Kog's gone now, still, point is.. This passive with AOE was simply freaking unfair compared to all other On-Hit items.

Why can't we have good 'ol rageblade, just slightly buffed to match current powercreep?

crippler381 votes

I personally hated that I could ambush a half health yi as shaco while he was doing a camp, have 3 completed items not including boots and my ultimate and he kills me in less than 5 seconds while surviving all my damage. Including ignite.

thank the gods that nonsense died.

that being said a small attack speed increase wouldn't be awful, maybe they could add a bit more attack speed or make it so it gets more attack speed per stack if you're melee.
