Why not just make Sewn Chaos Amumu and Blitzcrank a good behavior reward instead of wasting them?

The honor system is getting an update anyways, this would be the perfect time to give them out to well-behaved players. It's been months and I'm really starting to feel bad that these skins never went through because a few people on the boards talked shit about them. They weren't ultimate skins but they weren't anywhere near bad enough to just throw away models that were already made. If there are no plans to revise those skins and ship something similar, the current sewn chaos models should be shipped live as gifts. They were 100% ready so it's just plain sad to throw them away.

A handful of dissenters on the boards do not speak for everyone. I think it was unfair to the people who developed these skins to just waste them. They were good. Not jaw-dropping. Not bad. But perfectly fine. Honestly I would have paid RP for these skins, I don't see any reason to believe that these skins were unfit to be shipped live.

I doubt riot would just brush aside the time and effort to make these skins just because a minority(?) of the community criticised them.

However their justification falls a bit flat when there are worse skins live in the game. Nevertheless low quality is a legitimate reason to not include them since if they do not meet the standards now, things will just get worse as time passes.

Giving away skins that riot finds lacking seems to be a strange message to send to well-behaved players.

I actually own Draven Draven and I tell people I love it (Even though I actually hate it) because I know it can tilt people.

I think that was an excuse they made to appease the boards. Those skins got a lot of backlash because a few outspoken players acted like they were the worst thing ever. Riot put them on the PBE so I really don't think they believed they weren't up to par, they just caved to the flame.

Character identification is one complaint I might mention. You can probably spot Blitzcrank, but it did take me a second to recognize that the other one is Amumu. The colors all blend, so the palette could use some tweaking in contrast. Overall I like them, but they also don't mesh as well with Orianna's Sewn Chaos, which could use some quality improvements of it's own probably.

Those are just personal criticisms I might have if I was trying to quality control them.

So maybe if we're lucky, they're reworking them to hit the bar based on the feedback instead of a complete scrap. If they are, they could also be looking to release them as part of an event like this Dark Star one. (Harrowing themed around Sewn Chaos would be kinda cutesy horror and kinda cool too IMO.)

ya, I just saw the images and Amumu certainly didn't look like amumu.

Blitz looks like his battle boss skin, so it just looks like a cheap rip-off.

Lol the excuses. I hope they also scrap the Pulsefire Caitlyn skin because she doesn't have hat, has different hairdo a thus "doesn't look like Caitlyn".

As for Blitz being rip-off of Battle Boss. If he actually rip-off just because he has hook instead of hand? Because that's the only similarity I can see. Giving hook to champion who hooks indeed seems rather unexpected.

Also, we literally have Draven Draven as skin. A Draven with big Draven marsk on... A payed skin. Any argument against Sewn Chaos Blitz and Amumu is suddenly invalid in my eyes.

Your Draven Draven skin argument is weak. Draven's character is all about his ego. Not to mention it was an April Fool's Day skin. That skin makes perfect sense and was welcomed by the community with open arms.

for blitz, its more about the color and shape.

amumu i'm pretty sure i can get used to in time. but probably needs to brighten the color a bit to make him a bit sharper.

either, those are just first glance (5 sec look) reactions, doesn't really mean a whole lot.

Actually there was a rioter comment that came out almost the same time they were released onto PBE that mentioned they weren't supposed to have been shipped, there was just a delay in communication to get them pulled.

riot wont ever do that, plus people shouldnt be rewarded for something that should be expected like good behavior

They said that if the skins werent up to their standards, giving them out for free would be EVEN WORSE because then everyone would have the lame skins, and that'd shift perceptions of skins overall. If anything, I'd ask that they just sell them at an inflated price and only during some exclusive event, that way the people who really want them could have them but few others would see them.

Dont think Riot would adhere to "skins not good enough to make money off of becoming free rewards for good behavior", as that just sounds sleazy.

Also Riot has other methods of getting player opiniom besides NA boards, so its not just a few people on the boards. Also, they internally could've been dissatisfied with the skin

I really liked both skins and was planning on purchasing both skins. Just another reason to hate both the boards and the league subreddit.

Usually, we are able to make these calls before we put a skin on PBE. That’s really the best possible outcome. If we cancel, you haven’t had a chance to get excited about something we’re not fully confident we would release, so there’s no real player pain caused. But sometimes skins like the Sewn Chaos line make it to PBE before we’ve made a call. And in that case, what we heard from a lot of you confirmed a lot of what we were already thinking. I know that some of you were excited about them, but those skins just weren’t good enough. It hurt to pull them, but they didn’t meet our standards of quality, so I stand behind that decision.

Sounds like Riot was already pretty heavily leaning towards "these skins aren't good enough" internally.

Besides, if the Boards could sway them on those skins then why have there been so many skins which have been pushed out when the community has been far more vocal about "this skin needs these improvements"? Queen of Hearts Syndra, Ace of Spades Ezreal, and many other skins have had the community push back and say "delay it, make it great!" and were ignored, so what makes you think Riot's change of mind was solely based on the community when the community was unsuccessful in the past?

I loved the design of Sewn Chaos Blitzcrank and Amumu, and I wish we still got them. Maybe if they were upped to Moo Cow Alistar quality, people would buy them. Moo Cow Ali was only 975 RP, and it got new animations, a new recall, and more. If the Sewn Chaos skins got that kind of love (albeit, with a higher cost) people may receive them a bit better.

They've given out mystery skins and mystery champions in past years for neutral behavior (as well as summoner icons), it's not unlikely there'll be something similar in future years as well.
