Holy sweet cheesus. I was so nervous thinking those amazing changes, yet AWFUL numbers would go through.

Oh, thank god. Soraka is my main. She does need a bit of nerfing (so she can stop getting banned every game and I can once again play her) but those changes were abysmal.

It does not matter how balanced her numbers are. She's going to get banned unless she's complete trash because her kit is cancer. She's extremely obnoxious to deal with now with Windspeaker's and the fact that Grievous Wounds no longer affects heals on allies. Most players would rather ban her instead of deal with her, because dealing with her is not fun for anyone.

Windspeakers pushed her over the edge yes, but before that she was banned very rarely. Her play pattern didn't change at all (I was undoing damage all the time). I would say the granting armor and MR with 10% increased heal on a powerful global heal did that. I think some of what was in the changes was a good idea but they were putting way too much into that stupid alignment and Q mechanic.

Don't forget Grievous Wounds no longer affecting heals on allies. The oldest counter play to Soraka no longer exists.

True, but her ult removed Grievous Wounds back then as well. It was a rare game it mattered because only the mid mage would have a way to apply it beyond Ignite. That said, she had some hard counters back then due to GW. MF in particular had it built into her AS boost.

Well it required her to ult to cleanse the GW effect, as opposed to just spam W and disregard the debuff.

As an AP support player I did get item 3165 against her quite often. And, as you mentioned, some champions had/have it in their kit, such as Fizz MissFortune Katarina .

Honestly, if they just reduced the %maxHP cost (by half at least) and kept the rest...I think i would have been fine with it. it would have allowed W to be an early game option. The proposed changes would have just forced her to always max Q making her a weaker "poke with Q" support because a large portion of her W healing was moved to that weird and awful alignment mechanic.

She has a 0.6% ban rate right now.

Don't cheer just jet, your source says they will be coming back.

Who knows how much worse it'll get. XD

And while you rejoice the rest of the player base slit their wrists.

Banning a support is so stupid, and that's coming from a support main. Not worth it. The only primary role support that's worth banning is Tahm Kench, if he goes top lane.

It's as ridiculous as chasing a support through an enemy jungle or diving for a support. Supports lack the ability to carry in this game currently, and itemization is still terrible for us. Supports can make a good team great and an okay team good, but if they're playing badly, or not putting out enough damage, there isn't a lot you can do. **ESPECIALLY **as a support like Soraka.

Those changes were horrible to her kit, and I hope they adjust them or come up with something better.

I personally liked the changes and have yet to see any reason why they wouldn't be useful.

I'm a little lost, does this mean they are actually bringing back mana batery soraka...?

Krys Star1 votes

I have a feeling they are, just their approach to it was extremely wrong and they ran out of time to test it properly.

All the tentative Q and W changes from 1/29 update have been REVERTED! [CONTEXT: As for why these were pulled, ricklessabandon explained they'll return in 6.4 PBE:

  • yup, yup. we'll bring those mechanics back in the 6.4 development cycle (their intended release). didn't have enough time to get the specifics sorted out on top of the other things going on in the 6.3 cycle. "

They reverted them for now so they can work on her for patch 6.4. You have one more patch unfortunately before the changes are likely to go threw.

Coming back for 6.4 and I will look forward to it.

Honestly, Grievous Wounds affecting her heals impacted me the most during laning phase. I had to think about when to trade.

Outside of the lane phase, eventually that ADC and/or APC was gonna crit 800 every 1 second while i'm still trying to heal for 200 every 1.5 sec. Even if I went pure AP, i was a walking stick with no leverage over any fight that happened (like supports are desired for).

So what's the real problem?? Pure AP got too expensive, and in averagely shorter games your carries don't have as much time to outscale that 200 heal now boosted by 10%, armor, and MR.

But let's chalk it up to a complete design failure which is OK by me. I played her 1400 times, I got my fun with her, and seeing as how she was already reworked, didn't expect this one to last either. I'm pretty damn sure Sona is next. These kinds of champions just set themselves up to never be seen competitively.
