I'm not saying Kindred is OP

But when you flood the game with overloaded kits it makes many other champions under powered.

Maybe chillax on making new champs for a while and focus purely on bringing all champions to par with the newer/re-worked champs.

Like seriously stop making new champs for like 5-6 months and just tune-up old ones.

We still get the same feeling as if it were a new champion when an older one gets some attention, win-win.

I dunno, I don't think Kindred is too overloaded. She's quite hard to play properly.

HaIlMonitor6 votes

He ult is not an ult any ADC should have. "Oh damn I got caught out.... Well I guess I will heal for a bunch and take out 2 of the 3 of them anyways GG"

ModAttysu The Poro3 votes

She's not an ADC she's a Jungler...

HaIlMonitor8 votes

She is both. If vayne is in top lane is she a top laner? Quinn is played in top is she a Top laner? If twitch/vayne are played in the Jungle is he a Jungler?

NO - They are Ranged Carries that build ATTACK Damage.

Anyways I feel like she was only released to make Mordekaiser more reliable because you have put adc's in every lane effectively now so they can "Change" the bot lane meta that has been around for 4 years.

ModAttysu The Poro3 votes

Just cause a champion CAN go another lane, doesn't mean they were intended to. Vayne was meant to be an ADC, people decided to take her top. She's balanced around ADC.

Battlecast Sona5 votes

Vayne went mid when she came out, actually.

His point is that champion class =/= their position. Champs are defined by the lane they take most often and what they do within it. E.g.:

Kha'Zix = jungle assassin Sejuani = jungle tank Kindred = jungle marksman

Vayne bot = bot lane marksman (ADC) Vayne top = top lane marksman

Sona = support mage Braum = support tank

You can be a marksman/ADC without being bot lane. Just as Vayne is still a marksman when you take her top, Kindred is most definitely a marksman despite being a jungler. Just because ADCs are taken bot 99% of the time doesn't mean they're ousted from their classification group if they go elsewhere.

Her ult prevents everything from dying and heals everything when it's done... :/ So she can't do that.

HaIlMonitor3 votes

It ONLY gives her advantage though because of the burst heal. And when she cant die she is still getting your life lower to equalize the fight so she just hast to do "out damage" you after the ult is finished.

Saphixia1 votes

yes because that doesnt happen with anyother adcs...... Kalista ( and if you have a Zilean support)

HaIlMonitor1 votes

Kalista ult is like a really stronger tryndamere ult? I didn't know that I should look into that.

A Miss Fortune6 votes

But what doesn't Kindred have? I don't see a comp she wouldn't be viable in or against, and we know she works really well in Top, Mid, Jungle, and ADC.

idoki2 votes

You pick her when you need damage. That's pretty much it.

A Miss Fortune3 votes

That's basically the same with all ADCs. Kindred at least has a lot of utility with her stupid permaslows and game changing ult. She secures objectives really easily too.

TurquoiseYoshi1 votes

*They

If you can't hold yourself back from saying "she", just say Lamb. That's the "she" of the group.

idoki1 votes

But when you have a tank top, tank/utility support bot and a medium-damage mid, the ADC damage isn't going to cut in alone. That's when you pick a carry jungler.

IntakiNine1 votes

Kindred does not have poke, engage, or tankiness. They are the ADC equivalent of Shyvana.

EddardStark841 votes

Um she's squishy as fuck and has little to no cc?

BattleMan6912 votes

Kindred is actually pretty tame in comparison to yasuo riven ekko and kalista

Keevalroy2 votes

Being "tame" doesn't change the overall feeling.

It takes at least 8 months to make new champions. At best they could put more staff on the rework team.

They have multiple champions in development at the same time.

More than likely, these teams are already at capacity. Throwing more man power at it won't fix the problem any faster.

and again, just because the champion rework team is laging behind is no reason to halt the champion design team's work.

Yes, thank you.

im not seeing how anyone would say kindred is op ...

TheCeeJay3 votes

First it's been less than a week since Kindred was released, so anyone playing them hasn't fully mastered her yet, and most people don't know how to actually counter them yet. Second, Kindred plays a lot like a Heimerdinger or Azir, but as an ADC. They set up an area, albeit easier to set up than Heimer, and can control that area for a bit and do well. Leave this area and their damage output and kill potential decreases. (On the other hand while Kindred looks cool as champ the design is relatively poor because they still feel like Lamb (ft. Wolf) and not Lamb and Wolf, but that's a different argument.)

New champions get designed by completely different people than reworks and the balance team, so releasing new champions has nothing to do with any of that. On the other hand, introducing any new item or champion to the game does change the balance of the game, so I can see that argument. Even a small nerf to someone popular in the meta can bring about more champs to counter that person and be seen as "OP" because of it. If they truly wanted to balance the game they would leave everything alone for a month or so and see how the game is. Look at every interaction possible and buff and nerf things based off those findings. Not introduce small nerfs and buffs little at a time.

Also learning how to nerf and buff would help, currently on the PBE they nerfed the base damage on Veigar's W which isn't even why he's seen as "OP." They also gave a buff to Cho'Gath's R, which didn't need a buff really but is inconsequential. They nerf the wrong things to try and balance and it's been that way for a long time now.

The secret to actually mastering her is Counter Jungling. The secret to counterplaying her is to deny her the jungle stacks. Wolf can mark enemy jungle camps for the first six stacks as well as scuttle crabs. Its simple, you force her into ganking for stacks on champions and shut her down with a gank. as long as you control the flow of your jungle you control the enemy Kindred.

I figured that out just by watching the spotlight then playing against Kindred as Kindred. I had 12 stacks and we kept her at two stacks and severely underfed. As long as your team takes control of their side of your jungle and eliminates the camp when it shows up she is useless. Also, Wards Save Lives.

Battlecast Sona1 votes

Yeah, people REALLY don't understand how important the passive stacks are to Kindred's damage. Her base AD is really, really low, so if you're not getting those stacks you're hurting your damage quite a bit.

Rendarkan1 votes

Its also funny to watch people lane bot ADC with her and wonder why their damage output is weaker than yours. Her passive has a 90 second CD and between champs its about two minutes. A decent Kindred will have two champs on CD, one about a quarter left and the other just fresh working on the third. ADC'ing her hurts her even more as you only can really target the other ADC or Support, maybe the jungler if your lucky. I literally have started team fights in enemy jungle to collect marks and team fought over scuttlebug and gotten both my marks.

Protip: if you are on five stacks and an enemy camp/scuttlebug pops up for your next mark score a gank on your marked champion then go kill the camp. You can score a free stack off the enemy camp even after the sixth cause it was active prior to getting the gank.

Marthian1 votes

On cho'gath's ult change, it was kind of a min-maxing the ability that wasn't really helpful to anyone.

Prior to the change, the best use case was use your ult on creatures so you could build up stacks quickly due to the Cd reset. When you had max stacks, that's when you'd want to use R on champions.

With the new change, now you can use it on Champions and if it kills them, get two stacks out of it (as if you had used the ult twice on creatures and got the CD reset), and when you have max stacks: you can use it for sustain on monsters or champions.

(That said, Cho'gath does need his passive's health sustain reduced at early levels.)

TheCeeJay1 votes

Oh I wasn't complaining about it, it just didn't seem needed really and I don't think it'll really effect anything. Like, it'll make eating champs more worthwhile, but Cho getting 6 stacks already isn't hard so it's not like they made it so much easier to get. (And I really don't understand all the complaining about it.)

Lazypeon1003 votes

Kindred is the first champion in two years now to actually lack a hard CC of any kind.

Zone of Endless3 votes

How is she overloaded? Compared to other recently released champ her kit actually make sense and is fun to play against. Her Q is pretty normal. W enhances her Q and the damage isn't all that bad. Her E affect one target and needs 3 stack to apply and it only slows and it also has a cooldown unlike gnar's. her ult works both way like Bard. It'll either screw your team in teamfights or help you depending on how well you use it.

edit: you also don't know what overloaded kit is if you think Kindred is overloaded.

AbyssionKnight3 votes

She's overloaded / significantly more complex compared to older champions, not new ones, which is why this thread is asking them to stop making new champions and instead focus on updating the old ones.

Rammus is a great example of a champion whose kit is super simple compared to modern kits (including Kindred's).

Passive: Bonus AD based on his Armour.

Q: Speed boost that does some damage and knock up on hit.

W: Boost MR and Armour with thornmail effect.

E: Taunt

R: Aoe damage.

There aren't extra passives or on hit triggers on his kit, or even special interactions between his abilities. They're all straight forward abilities that work the same regardless of the situation.

Definitely not. Kindred's kit is also straight forward (and definitely not overloaded) even compared to some older champs.

Q is a dash that does damage to nearest 3 target

W create a zone that enhances Q by reducing CD to 2 sec

E slows and does % max health dmg on 3rd hit

R create a zone that make it so you're invulnerable below certain HP and heal if you're still in that zone.

Pretty straight forward and easy to understand what she does and definitely not overloaded.

Jungle Brungus2 votes

Why does she need the extra passives? She would still deal stupid damage, have her overpowered abilities especially that ult, and scale harder than ron jeremy without the random added buffs.

Making champions with paragraph long abilities or just blatantly overpowered abilities (yasuo, riven, fizz, tahm) make picking anything else seem silly really...you're more likely to lose if you pick anything else because those champions were made "better." It's not a good feeling.

Too many cooks spoil the pot!

The new champ team and the champ rework team are two different groups. Shutting down one in order to throw them at the other would prove a waste of time and resources. We don't even know at what stage the reworks are in and how long it could take to get them ready for release (Hello Sion .)

How does Riot re-do old champions and make money out of it at the same time?

Thumpin1 votes

Considering that Riot has done exactly this in the last few years since they DRAMATICALLY slowed down champion releases, I don't see why you're complaining. Not to mention the fact that Kindred is far from overloaded.

Guy Fox Teemo1 votes

This has been said time and time again. THERE ARE DIFFERENT TEAMS, for different jobs. If they quit making champions that won't do ANYTHING to the rework team. You can't just throw a bunch more on their , it leads to chaos, which already happens at Riot since they don't have deadlines and no one at Riot is anyone's boss everyone just does what they want till something is eventually finished. (It's actually true, in there is actually no boss at Riot, employee reviews say everyone does whatever they want)

LordBahamutXVI1 votes

Content creation doesn't work like that. Ideas don't come up faster just because more people are there to throw thoughts at it, in fact that usually just makes things more complicated because the team starts arguing with itself over what to do with the champion.

vivjan301 votes

I think they are balanced. She is easy to pick up, yet some components of her kit are hard (ult). And they (lamb and wolf) have clear counters. She can also play three roles : Jungle (primary), ADC, and top (I might be the only one who does this).
