Tanks are clearly overpowered in this meta

Don't tell me I don't have enough resistance, 100 is the most efficient point, the most damage reduction for the least amount of gold.

I can die even quicky than this, the fact of the matter is is that tank stats dont scale hard enough and penetration items scale way too hard.

I have to sit there and take it, I can't kill them before their ult is done (See kennen) because hes completely invulnerable for the duration and I am stunned for it as well.

Seriously, remove % penetration items and masteries, then things might be okay, if you have to, nerf resistances a little bit too.

Once again, must point out that 100 resistance is the most efficient point.

It's like you can't read.

I'm completely confused why you think you only need 100 resistances as a tank.

First, no, it isn't. Second, you built almost pure health vs a melee carry with BotRK; of course your health stacking didn't help. Third, you built zero armor; OF COURSE SOMEONE GOING FULL GLASS CANNON DOES A LOT WHEN YOU DON'T BUILD TO DEFEND IT.

Hibeki1 votes

Yes, it is.

100 resistance is 50% damage reduction, it's the PEAK of gold cost to damage reduction.

Terff1 votes

Then you don't know how resistances work, each point in a resistance adds 1% effective health, so every point in resistance is as good as the last, read the post above by Irelia Bot if you want the full calculations. And your build for a tank was trash, you had devourers and triforce, those are carry items. Voli is all about that health, get freaking juggernauts.

OK... and why exactly does anyone give a fuck about gold efficiency?

You need more than 100 resist in order to be tanky period. You clearly dont seem to understand how mitigation works in this game.

You dont have a single armor item rofl and spent nearly 4k on Trinity Force on a champion that cannot even use it effectively being his cooldowns are absurdly long.

ForPortal1 votes

This is incorrect. The optimal resistance is not a flat amount, it is dependent on how much HP you have, whether there's an even distribution of physical and magic damage, and how much HP regen/lifesteal/spellvamp you have to supplement that HP.

But at its simplest, if your HP is over 1500 plus 15 times your average resistance, you're better off buying more armor and MR than more HP. Yours was.

Ratbert1 votes

I can already see you don't have 100 armor with those 2 digits.

IcyPepper1 votes

Um, that's 200... 300 if the enemy team is full ad, because last whisper is going to reduce it by 30% anyway.

Irelia Bot3 votes

lol "100 resistance is the most efficient" nope.jpg

each point of armor you have is 1% more effective health vs physical damage and MR is 1% more effective health vs magic damage meaning that if you have 500 armor and 3000 health you have an effective 18000 health when facing an all physical damage team before reduction and penetrations are applied.

alright so it is time for me to bring out the math on how it works

(100/(100+((armor-armor shred flat)(1- armor shred %))(1-Armor pen %)-flat armor pen)) damage that is the base for how damage is equated and the same system is for magic damge.

The top 100 is never changed by anything except for fpat % damage reduction like alistar ult reducing it to 30 from 100 etc.

Let us say that you have 100 armor the enemy has Last whisper, weapon expertise and 10 flat armor pen This means that 100/((100+100(1 -.389)-10)) 100/(100+100*.611-10) 100/151.1 66.2% physical damage taken when you have 100 armor if you have 3000 health you now have an effictive 5287 health vs a fully built ADC

Now increase it to 300 armor 100/(100+300*.611-10) 100/(100+183.3-10 100/273.3) 36.6% of all physical damage is taken when you have 300 this mean that 3500 helath becomes an effective 9562 effective health vs a fully built ADC

Armor and MR do not get reduced effectiveness the more you get. They just have less damage to reduce making it seem like you are getting less if you are basing it on the % of damage you are taking.

Now if you were to complain about true damage that is a different story and the only counter to most of it is more health except for vayne with 8% true damage every 3 consecutive hits.

You were in a fight with four enemy champions, two wielding BotRK. When Master Yi and Vayne are trying to murder you, building health is not the way to go.

Built no resistances "don't tell me I didn't build enough resistances".

I should try that with other things

Cannibal: "Wait why are you arresting me! Don't tell me it's because I ate all those people!"

Police Officer: "It's because you ate all those people"

Cannibal: "No that doesn't count, I told you not to tell me that!"

Police Officer: Shit he is right boys, guess we gotta let him go now.

But no seriously, your reasoning makes no sense and your idea of balancing it out makes no sense. Why would we lower the power of penetration (which by the way, botrk doesn't do, yoomou's is he only penetration item) items, and then lower the effectiveness of resistances to compensate? That would put us at the exact same situation!

Warrior and Triforce say that's not a tank build. No surprise that two carries killed you efficiently.

Consider buying Randuin's over Warmog's next time.

Terff1 votes

Warriors would've been a bit more reasonable, but if you look closely its actually devourers... thats what makes this laughably funny.

3 and a half carries actually. Vel'Koz has a good amount of damage (as much as Voli has defense anyway) and he was also attacked by Vayne, who did ~800 damage to him.

Who told you 100 armor is good? They lied rofl. I typically get around 320 armor late game when tanking and 3-4k health. I live much longer than you while doing more damage

u must be pretty braindead if you buy tank item. Cho gath with no hp item have 3000hp with ulti passive. And warmog add only 800hp, it's insignificant. 3000 or 3800hp is the same. tank item are so useless. If you are tank you must buy offensive item.

Just because you're playing Volibear, a champion considered to be a tank, doesn't mean you're by default tanky. Some champions have decent tanky potential from just base (Rammus), but Voli needs defenses to be tanky. And no, HP stacking doesn't work. You are an idiot, stfu on the forums.

100 resistance... is the baseline I get on my carries if I don't want to get one shot. 200 is the baseline on my OFF-tanks (it's STILL not that tanky.) 250-300+ is me going, "Okay, I need to FULL tank all the damages for my team."

Meep Man1 votes

100 is not the most efficient. Getting to about 150 is the most "efficient" before it begins to not give enough to be worth the gold value. Plus, you are forgetting about tank item passives that further reduce damage taken such Frozen Heart, Randuin's Omen, and Banshee's Veil.

In his defense a Malphite with 3000 hp and 300 armor would still die to Kennen and Yi just in 3 more sec
