LP should take individual performance into account.
Maybe it's all the people who were placed wrong coming back to at the end of the season, but my God I can't go a game without someone on my team or the enemy team going 0/8. I feel bad for the enemy team when they have someone who can't even tie their own shoes, but it's pretty annoying winning lane every game and then losing half my games because someone is 0/10 and doesn't know what an objective looks like. Or there's the people playing IVERN for the first time ever in a ranked game and they might as well be AFk apart from their 8 deaths.
I get everyone defends this ranked system saying it's a "team game" and you're based on your team's performance but here's the thing: UNLESS YOU'RE PLAYING RANKED 5s YOUR RANK IS SUPPOSED TO REPRESENT YOUR SKILL. If our rank, and therefore our LP is supposed to represent individual skill, there is absolutely no excuse to still have this outdated ranked system. Someone going 0/8 is obviously not as skilled as someone going 18/7/10 with 5 turrets killed. Yet they get the same LP for a win and lose the same LP for a loss. What a joke. This is 2016 and a chimpanzee could figure out a better algorithm for ranked that more accurately measures individuals skill.
This system relies too much on random players. Yes, the odds are 50/50 that you will have the good team, but: If you flip a quarter 100 times, it might land on tails 60 times. If you get the trolls 60 times out of the 100 games you play, you'll be in bronze 5. If you get the good teammates 60/100 times you play, you'll get to Plat. Ya, the odds are 50/50 but that's not how real life works. So players who should never be out of bronze are in high silver and players who should be in Plat (not me) are in Silver with them, getting those guys stuck on their team 60 or more % of the time because they have bad luck.
This would all be fixed if you got LP based on a performance rating for your role, kind of like the letter rank system post game. For instance damage dealt for assassins and marksman and mages, damage taken and peeling done by tanks, and so and so for other roles. Getting objectives also needs to be rewarded. If you're the jungler that got your team all 4 drags and 2 barons, or the trynd that pushed down their top inhib, you should get more LP than a 1/10 teammate that didn't get a single objective.
TLDR: If LP was also based on your performance in game, like more LP for a win and less for a loss if you have an S or A rank, and less rewarded and more lost if you went 0/10 and got an F or D. This wouldn't fix everything about ranked, but it wouldn't feel as futile to lose after going 18/6 as a top laner with 4 turret kills because your bot lane went 0/10. it would also accelerate people being placed where they belong.
