Why does Malphite have 2 icons in his buff bar for his passive?

Considering Rakans buff is "He sometimes gets a shield" It feels unnecessary

Well it's the most mechanically intensive part of his kit, I'm not surprised that it's highlighted that much.

I was, but then I read your comment and thought:

Q - point and click damage + slow W - click to get aoe autos for a time, passively get bonus armor E - click to deal aoe dmg on you position, slow enemy AS R - only skillshot, but you become immune to everything and get so fast that you're going to hit pretty much everything. I'm not saying this is a total noob ult, but it's not that easy to associate it with skill expression.

P - A passive that dramatically increases its potential if you learn to engage and disengage at the right moments. Since Malph doesn't have any regen boost (at least until he buys warmogs, which is situational), it's way more difficult to use properly than Garen's ult. If you do it right, you'll stay healthy, but there's no use in escaping with 100 health and then engaging again with 120 health and a 300 shield. By late game that's less than half a spell or crit.

So yes, one can actually, seriously say that the passive is the most mechanically intensive part of his kit. But I wrote the first post out of sarcasm.
