WHY ARAM IS NO FUN

I most of the time play Ranked 5v5 on Summoners Rift but whenever I have about 30 mins or so I play ARAM. ARAM is a cool concept with a really cool map. The different item builds are really awesome as well. However there is one simple problem that ruins the game mode and is the reason its been lost in the abyss. AUTOMATED PLAYERS (aka bots). Its been like over 3 years that ARAM game mode has been infested with automated players, and Riot hasn't done anything about it and has rarely spoke about it. I am not even talking about 2 or 3 bots in a game, I mean your lucky if you get into a game with another real player. There was an Ask Riot posted a few days ago about the possibility of making Ranked ARAM. Riot addressed many strong suits and problems with ARAM but the word "bots" weren't even mentioned once. Does riot just not care about the fact that people are just leveling up their accounts through third party systems? Is that not a report? My last game of ARAM i had ALL Bots in my game. Not one real player in the game. I am not trying to bash Riot. I am just trying to say that if Riot want to really make their game FUN, then please fix this problem. This should not having been going on for 4 years now. It ruins the gameplay.

ARAM is the only game mode I play and I don't remember ever seeing a bot. However, I have seen enough complaints here on boards about bots in ARAM and co-op vs AI games to know that there is probably some truth about bot invasion on some levels of ARAM/AI/TT games. Until Riot gets rid of the bots, the only way for you to get rid of bots and keep playing is to increase you MMR. At some point the bots MMR falls so far behind you that they won't be there to bother you anymore.

I have played a crap ton of aram games and I can say I have only seen a few bots that I know of. The real trouble that aram has is more to do with aram accounts, script runners, afkers and champs that have shields. Hell the first game I play each of that last 3 days was a 4v5 thanks to an afker. I have played game where people laugh at you when you call them out on there script and they ever brag about them in game. Yeah it is great that they nerfed healing on aram but shields are way out of control and over powered. The main reason you see 6 to 12 plus dodges when trying to get in to a aram games is because of aram accounts and there need to only use there over powered champs to game there chance to win. At the end of the day everyone knows that riot will never do anything about this because it is just aram and the only thing riot cares about is #LCSbigplays.

ARAM is my most played gamemode and the only time I've seen a bot was when I was playing on a pre-10 account

How to spot bots - Check for these things:

  • Load Screen -

  • Do they have a capstone? You have to be level 30 to get into ARAMS, and I don't know many players who don't fill out their mastery pages, even if it's not optimal according to the meta.

  • Do they have one of the generic summoner icon/s? Not always accurate, but the 'teddy bear' and the 'Wall faced minion with a hammer' tend to be popular bot 'choices', less popular the 'potion bottle' and 'the plant sprout'. If you suck at ARAMs or don't play often, make sure your icon is not one of these, then even if you have a bad game you are less likely to be reported for being a bot. Wondering if a specific icon choice denotes different 'bot companies/services'. I'd post the most common ones I've seen but it's not an option on the boards.

  • In Game -

  • Do they just sit behind the outer tower until you pass by and then run headlong into combat?

  • After 5 minutes are they 0/10/0? (Feeding without contributing)

  • Are they building items? Did they just build 4 Doran's items? Some leeway for 'off-meta' is one thing, but were they building at least somewhat appropriately or just randomly?

  • Are they responding to chat? (I have noticed some bots lately will actually say a random line during games so as to be 'personally present' in game. Ask them to repeat what they said.)

Had an ARAM versus all bots with all bots on my team as Veigar a few months back. Here's the link to a screenshot i took of the final results (on my instagram - follow if you want):

Hope this helps and makes them a bit more obvious. [EDIT] - Note the bots in the picture bought items, but the huge discrepancy in KDA between myself and the others should be more than enough proof (especially if you look at my match history, sadly).

I very rarely encounter bots in aram. Probably because my aram mmr is higher than the bots mmr. Win more aram and you will get out of bot mmr at some point.

bots cant beat players

so you don't have to bring ranked games into this.

but yeah if you get 20/3/26 as a soraka then the other team is bots

Bots in ARAM? Huh. I've never even seen a bot there. Are you level 30 yet?

It seems like the bots come and go I mean I have weeks without seeing bots and then I get games where like you said its almost nothing but bots but the issue is even if they find them and ban them the people making them will create another account and they can't ip ban because they'll end up banning an entire college dorm and even if that wasn't the case getting past an ip ban is childsplay. The main issue is that LOL is a free to play game so if someone doesn't have money invested in skins or anything like that they don't care if the bot account gets banned they'll make a new one. I think most bots are out late at night or early morning (at least in my experience) so maybe stay away from aram at those times.
