Outer Turrets and Inner Turrets

Season 4: 100 Armor/MR, 2000 HP -> 4000 EHP Season 5: 4000 HP -> 4000 EHP (plus, the scaling MR/Armor makes them tankier. At max stacks (15 min outer, 30 min inner) they'll have 5200 EHP)

They are now stronger than before.

Edit: Added Max EHP with scaling armor/mr Edit 2: I forgot that side-lane inner turrets had that 30 hp shield on them. That means they had 4060 EHP. Thus, inner turrets are weaker until 16 minutes, when they will have 4080 EHP.

Why are you trying to interrupt the circlejerk? We're all having fun here pretending we know anything about how to balance they game. Why bring numbers or truth into this?

Sehlikah6 votes

Whoa! Are you saying that I, a Silver 3 ADC main, know nothing about balancing such a complex game as League?

Do you know nothing of my credentials? I browse the boards, sir. I am more qualified than Meddler.

Because they need resists. Champions pound them down too fast. They need mitigation.

It is literally the same amount of "health" as last season's outer turrets. Idk if you could technically penetrate turret armor but if you could then these turrets are "technically" tankier than last seasons since you cannot penetrate below 0 so a Zed with the ArP item will now kill turrets slower than last season if that is the case.

you have no idea how resistances work do you? otherwise you wouldn't be making this type of statements, how is Zed going to take turrets down slower? turrets having no armor means they take FULL DAMAGE from every single auto attack which was not the case when they had armor (unless you somehow managed to penetrate ALL of their armor)

InsanitysTheName4 votes

He is correct with his assessment. The outer towers will now have more effective health at the start of the game that season 5 and will grow resistances to have even more effective health that season 5.

Turrets ignored penetration anyways.

Because it isn't

Old turrets:

  • Outer: 4000 effective health
  • Inner: 5000 effective health
  • Inhibitor: 5600 effective health
  • Nexus: 6000 effective health

Current turrets:

  • Outer: 3500 effective health
  • Inner: 3500 effective health
  • Inhibitor: 4000 effective health
  • Nexus: 4000 effective health

The new outer turrets will be equal to the old outer turrets. Inner, inhibitor, and Nexus turrets will still be much weaker.

My Waifu Vanilla4 votes

Which is fine. You shouldn't be able to huddle under a mid tier 2 for 10 minutes with Viktor just E'ing the wave every time it comes up. The game has to end at some point and the inner turrets having more health simply prolongs an already decided loss since chances are....you are taking those towers when people are dead anyway so why does it even matter how much health they have when they are uncontested objectives after an ace. It just wastes time.

peachplumpear13 votes

Have you heard of "sieging?"

Verxint1 votes

Personally I think riot shouldn't have babied midlaners who didn't know how to farm and design 15 mid laners that can clear an entire wave in half a spell from behind their tower.

I'm exaggerating, but it feels ridiculous sometimes

Battalion3 votes

Because wasting spells, mana, and cooldowns to clear a wave is so OP. Why the only thing that could make it worse is if they had champions that didn't need to waste mana, coodowns, or spells to clear waves.

OH shit! I forgot about AD AA champions D: Ashe Caitlyn Ezreal Graves Jax Lucian Pantheon Tryndamere Vayne Varus

Verxint1 votes

I'm mostly being cynical, but there was a time when most people couldn't clear a wave in 1 spell, and clearing every wave as it arrived would oom you.

Battalion1 votes

That's never been the case, I promise you. In mid game AD champions can 1 shot minions without spells and have a minion wave clear time (using AA only) of 4 seconds at most, using no spells and building crit.

An AP caster using a spell now has a long cool down and it's only viable for most of the AP champions to wave clear like that in the late game, an entirely different phase.

Ralanr1 votes

By AD AA champions, do you mean AD casters or just autoattack focused champions? Cause if it's the latter, then where the hell is MasterYi?

Battalion1 votes

You understand I'm not going to spell out for you every champion who can clear waves with AA , right? You aren't pointing to flaws in my argument just being picky.

XinZhao Tristana Aatrox Fiora Kalista Rengar MonkeyKing Nasus

Ralanr1 votes

Technically mages can CS with autoattacks, they just don't have anything to make them do more damage aside from item 3115 or an old mastery. Though I'm not going to argue with you on wave clearing.

Sehlikah4 votes

The OP was commenting on a buff to outer and inner turrets on the PBE, which raised their health by 500. Currently, outer and inner turrets are initially weaker, yes. However, next patch, they'll start at the same strength and scale to be stronger.

You'll note I did not comment on inhib and nexus turrets, which are weaker than before (even fully stacked).

god I miss the shields from when they were first added. If we had those right now that might be enough to get games to last at least 25 minutes .__.

Games are going MUCH faster now. By 15/20 mins team are usually at the inhibs. The turrets are a joke, diving turrets means nothing lol. They should do much more damage the longer you stand in them/more shots you take.

They're also fixing a bug where the towers didn't have armor scaling over time. So, they are getting armor. In fact, the outer towers should be tankier than they were last season.

yeah that 30 armor/mr that they will get over the course of 15 mins sure is going to make them tankier... if you even manage to protect them long enough to even reach that amount of armor/mr

Rito is lowering XP per kill so snowballing shouldnt be as easier meaning games will go on longer meaning that the turrets will get their armor.

Just no... Just no... But I thought of something even crazier. Every 3 missiles from the turret, it casts a spell missile that does ap and not ad AND HOW ABOUT THIS!:item 3157 item 3048 item 3089 item 3094 item 3190 item 3075 This will let the turrets be op af. Hourglass will just let them stay alive for a while. Seraph gives them a shield Rabadon makes more damage The gun charges things for the normal missiles And the others are to tank for them.

But the turrets should only get these buffs after 50 minutes of the game.

Eboksba10 votes

The thing is, everyone's complaining because towers weren't adding mr or armor due to a bug this entire past patch. Is bugged. What people perceived as too weak WAS too weak because they were sitting at 0 mr and 0 armor the entire game. Is fixed either in hotpatch or next patch.

Bloodhawk955 votes

The turrets are super squish now, and past the 18 minute mark or so, their damage is useless as any team with a tank can safely dive you. Tanking 10 shots as leona? No problem!

Jasiwel4 votes

500 health really isn't that much of a jump though, especially given how one of their biggest issues is how low their DPS actually is compared to champion damage. On top of ADCs seeing buffs, mages got a buff in killing towers too. The fact of the matter is that turrets are too feeble right now, OR that champions have too much killing capacity on turrets.

Also, these fixes still don't solve the issue of turrets actually being useful after 20 minutes with the exception of teamfights centered around them...if one of the teams isn't vastly ahead of the other first.

My Waifu Vanilla4 votes

A turret shouldn't carry you through the game by instantly clearing waves for you or something if they are seiging a T2/3. They need to not do that much damage to minions/champions or else the games would go back to s2/3 60 minute long games. I don't know about you but I do not want to prolong a defeat for 20+ minutes because they can't seige against stronger turrets.

Jasiwel1 votes

There's a big difference between a turret carrying you through the entire game and a turret being literally murderable by two standard waves of minions after 15 minutes. With how powerful champions are against, the proliferation of Atk Speed AND the minion buffs we are going to see soon, it's completely viable to argue turrets are practically useless after 20 minutes. n one thinks "Oh this turret will kill me if I dive" - they think "oh the other dude might survive if I attack him under the turret..but then he has to leave so my minions got it".

Turrets shouldn't be this weak. They should make opponents ALWAYS reconsider fighting at that position and make them crutch on their minions to begin attacking. Even then, the window of attack should be far less than it is at the moment. Turrets are pitiful and do nothing more than provide a checkpoint until 15 minutes into the game. I've basically given up laning altogether recently because turrets are as reliable as random teammates you meet in Blind Pick.

"Some of that's assumedly due to the reduction in effective health tower health in 5.22, some of it's also going to be due to a bug that's removing their intended growth in Armor/MR over time." --Riot

I think the 500 more HP is good for now. I would like to see how's turret doing after the bug fix and a slight HP boost, rather than a huge buff in an instant.

I don’t think turrets dying quickly is a problem (well, at this moment it is, but its because of a bug). It’s the fact that diving is too strong.

Because them having 4k HP is worse than 3.5k. Seriously Rito, whenever you make a change that the community is screaming for, and the shove it back in you're face, I say revert the changes.

I was watching c9 sneaky playing as caitlyn last night and when he and his support sona left lane a minion wave killed their 30% health turret with no champion support, just the wave. Granted they won the game, got baron, triple killed bot lane, then destroyed 4 towers and nexus in less than 3 minutes and sneaky said he felt bad when they gave up at the outer turret. There's just something wrong with the game now that this patch has hit.
