Why people are wrong when they say double tear is op
You always get those people who never even built double tear saying it's op stating all the things a fully stacked muramana and seraphs can do together with their passives, stats, and synergy among both items. But what a lot of people forget is that it's fairly balanced because it takes way too long to ever fully stack them. You could probably fully stack 2 tear items at around 30-40 minutes which already in itself is a large amount of time needed, but you would be sacrificing other core items for the full tear item, or you would not have 2 tear items until really late into the game because you have to get other core items first.
It's almost the same argument as saying 2 rod of ages is op, but clearly it's not because although it's not bad, it would make you not able to buy other items because you are trying to get 2 rod of ages early to get them stacking. It is by no means overpowered at all.
People always comment saying oh having a seraphs shield, and 2000 bonus mana, and extra ad and ap from the mana is overpowered need to realize that you normally would not have a double tear fully stacked an completed until very late into the game. It definitely does sound strong on paper but in the example of ezreal, he needs so much more items to be effective. If you get 2 tear items early, you will be behind on trinity/gauntlet which are very core to ezreal. If you do happen to get trinity or gauntlet early as a first or second item after muramana/seraphs, then the game will be around the 20-30 minute mark. By this time, you will buy a second tear which not only do you have to spend more gold to complete, but it will not be that powerful until you fully stack it which would take about another 10-20 minutes. The fact that it takes so long makes it not op at all.
I'm not saying 2 tear items synergizing and their passives is weak, but the fact that it takes way too long to actually get them along with your core items means it's not even overpowered at all. Nor is it a noob trap weak build. It's just a different build.
Anyone can buy 6 rod of ages but it definitely is not op because it would take so long to fully stack each, and you would be missing out on other items such as luden's proc, gunblade's sustain, magic pen, hour glass stasis, banshee spell shield, etc in favor for high health, high ap, high mana.
I highly feel like the biggest reason riot ever removed the double tear is not because it was op or bad, but because most players would just buy 6 tears at the end of a game when they lose similar to when people buy 6 boots.
I also think that riot should make some items have what boots have since they stopped letting us buy multiple boots. I know it wasn't always efficient, but in some situations, 2 boots is actually not bad. For example, a ninja tabi along with a merc treads can be a lot better than a ninja tabi and giant's belt in the scenario where it's the last team fight and you only have enough slots for 2 items and enough gold to either buy a ninja tabi and giant's belt or ninja tabi and merc treads. But a good way to fix this is that, have some items give tenacity besides just merc treads, but don't have them stack with each other so it won't be op but just so there's more options for tenacity. Also, have another item that does what ninja tabi does but doesn't stack with ninja tabi so in the case we happen to buy merc treads, we can still get something similar to ninja tabi. Riot removed being able to buy multi boots cuz it seems like a noob trap or troll thing to do, but give no option for boot passives in other items.
