What do you expect your jungler to do.

Zerenza··48 votes·16,758 views

If you lose 1v1 3 minutes in, 5 minutes in, 7 minutes in, 9 minutes in.

Like, i hate when this happens. When one of my laner's feeds then start spam pinging me and belittling me in chat, like it's not my fault you can't survive 1 on 1, i'd help you if it weren't for the fact your laner would 1v2 us since you fed them so hard.

Like thank god to muting cause some of these people are so infuriating.

What makes it worse is when that laner starts going to other lanes and gets them fed too, like what am i supposed to do when EVERY SINGLE LANE is losing? Oh, but i'm the one who gets flamed for it becuase "I'm a useless jungler" sorry laner's but no, your the ones who are useless your job is to not die 1v1, you should ONLY die to a gank, that's it. I don't care if your fighting a Fizz, Katarina, Talon, Zed or whatever Assassin as an immobile mage, play differently then! LEARN, don't just flame and spam your jungler all game because YOU couldn't survive on your own, i could understand if you were being dove and constantly fighting 1v2 but most of the time that's not the actual case. And if it is the case, most of the time it's your fault for making yourself a target.

Edit: I posted this down bellow but i'll post it here to.

Example: Lux has died to Zed 3 times so their scores are this 10 minutes into the game, meaning she's died every 3 minutes completely solo.

Lux: 0/3/0 50 CS Zed: 3/0/0 100 CS

Lux's Gold: Approximately 1250 Bounty= 174 Zed's Gold: Approximately 2500+794= 3294 Bounty= 500

Now here's the thing, if i gank you and i let you kill zed, you get 500 gold, i get 150, then you'll have 1750 gold in total right? But zed is still a full 1544 gold ahead of you, meaning he'll have his Duskblade and you'll have the components to one item. That means that he still beats you 1v1, and now you'll be worth 300 gold again, meaning he can get even more fed. If i gank you and your too far behind to help me, i will 100% die 1v1 to him, especially this early in the game, meaning he'll have 3594 gold, but if he had killed you again he'll have 3468. Meaning if i let you keep dying to him, he get's less fed then he would if i had ganked for you, now if i'm able to gank and the kill myself, that's actually perfect because i can help prevent him from getting other lanes fed, and get those lanes fed myself.

This is something laner's don't seem to understand, like i'd rather have you feeding 1 person then help you and let that person you fed feed everyone else on their team. The less gold your worth the better.

I expect the jungler to get shit done. If I'm getting camped then I expect him to be doing stuff on the other side of the map. If all jungle is doing is farming while the enemy jungler snowballs multiple lanes, then I've got a shitty jungler.

One other thing, if someone's always pushed up and the jungler isn't ganking then he's a shitty jungler.

Shleelpboy28 votes

Not true It all depends on your warding and lane positioning that's like first hand basics.

Axzarious18 votes

There's only so much a jungler can do when the laners on your team continue to hard shove the enemy in and get ganked repeatedly as a result. Depending on how hard they fed the enemy lane, ganking just ends up being suicide after a point.

y0r1ck4 votes

?????

Where did I say jungler needs to gank fed lanes?

BakedLotion4 votes

If all your laners are hard shoving how do you expect your jungle to gank for anybody?

There's a reason you're getting camped and your opponent isn't. If this happens in all 3 lanes, of course your jungler looks like the bad guy.

y0r1ck1 votes

????

Where did I say all laners are hard shoving?

EVEN IF ALL LANERS HARD SHOVE I still expect my jungler to invade.

BakedLotion1 votes

no but you said you're getting camped.

Guess what that means? You're shoving.

You also said the enemy jungler is snowballing multiple lanes. That also means they're shoving.

What do you expect your own jungler to do in this situation? You expect your jungler to invade but u also complained how "all they do is farm when enemy jungler is snowballing"

lose lose situation

y0r1ck1 votes

Yeah I said I, but only for simplicity. I could be in any lane, and if I'm getting camped I'm expecting my jungler to equalize the situation by doing something. I'm not complaining. I'm just saying what I expect. And since when do you need to shove to get camped?

Axzarious1 votes

Sometimes they can't always do something. Certain lanes might be nearly impossible to gank depending on your laner and their opponent's champion.

Invading might not always be an option if their jungle is well warded or their jungle is fed, and depending on what champion the enemy jungler is can only make it more of a problem.

Then there's other aspects like how they tend to move about - As much as people complain about the jungle having to support the lanes, the laners also have to support the jungler. For example, there's been countless times where i've decided to try and sneak an objective while the jungler is on the other side of the map making life difficult for my laner. Their laner disappears and comes around to attack me and contest the objective, and they just stay in the lane passively farming. While I can understand why they might not want to follow their laner (mage vs assassin), If they can't even apply pressure when that sort of thing happens, it's very difficult to get anything done.

It's also difficult to gank laners who don't know how to set up or receive a gank.

If i'm that ahead as jungle and I'v gotten my lanes ahead, i'm going to be spending a good chunk of my time also taking jungle camps from the enemy team's jungle. Going into the enemy jungle is also high-risk, especially if my own laners aren't warding much, preventing me from tracking the other jungle.

BakedLotion1 votes

If you're getting camped while not shoved, you're itemizing wrong, you were already behind or losing (which is your fault), or the enemy jungler is simply wasting their time.

Don't know why you would be mad about that.

Axzarious1 votes

To be fair, he could be also getting dove depending on the Laner and Jungler if they're far enough ahead or he is getting poked out. Granted, scenarios when things like that happen constantly are often the result of continuous misplays like immediately or faulty itemization, like people who don't run Doran's Shield into Ninja Tabi against AD poke champions like Quinn, Jayce, and Pantheon.

I'm a jungle main, and I get flamed so much when my laner feeds and I go in and die, and they blame me because I was helping other lanes because they were feeding, so somehow I was the one who is at fault for us losing, but I an the reason we stay in the game so long. Jungler = Obama

I didn't say anything about hard shoving. Literally all of the replies to my comment implied things I didn't.

In some cases the jungler can't do much. Mid may be a poor follow up for ganks or constantly shoved up. Bot is difficult to gank from blue side as it has double the wards, is a shorter lane and has shitty angles. Then if they can't solo drag quickly (otherwise risking being caught) there really isn't much you can do.

I've had plenty of games where mid endlessly shoves, bots always warded and the enemy top laner could 1v2 us easily. All you can do is farm farm farm

a warded lane is far from an ungankable lane. there are three paths down to bot(four if you are super mobile), and even if it's warded you can still go through and catch them if they are over extending, or completely focused on dueling with your laner.
if they are sitting at mid that also means their jungle is open. the crab and their jungle camps are free for the taking and any drake/mini baron. also, communicate; tell your idiot mid to stop shoving when they know they are getting camped. tell your bot and engage or clear the wards

Axzarious1 votes

While true, there are quite a few people who don't know how to set up or receive a gank as a laner. Enemy over extended in a warded lane in your favor? You decide to path towards bot and gank? Enemy ADC and Support just sit there and let the enemy walk away, without even trying to skirmish beforehand to try and divert attention or bait them into a fight. Not even trying to damage their opponents, burn their skills, or follow them down the lane to try and pull it off.

y0r1ck1 votes

Ok sure you can say sometimes junglers can't do anything.

The question was "what do you expect from your jungler?"

I answered "get shit done somewhere." What exactly is the problem lmao

Zerenza4 votes

There's a limit to how much a jungler can do, i completely agree that if top or mid is getting camped i need to be doing something in another lane or on the opposite jungle side(or counterganking if i'm able to). Now, what i'm talking about specifically is when LANER'S feed their laner, but still constantly make themselves a target instead of playing differently, that's why they camped. Getting camped is not as bad as losing 1v1 to your laner constantly, like i can't do anything for you if you getting shoved in by a 3+ kills Zed or something, and you've never been ganked, at that point i already know you can't beat him, but now he's far enough ahead that if i go in it's basically a 1v1 and your not gonna be able to help me, and to add on to that. If he's 3+ kills ahead of you, and i go in, and you can't help me because of how far behind you are, i'll lose 1v1 too and he'll get 300 gold off of me instead of 250 off of you.

In my opinion once a lane ends up like that, i ignore it because i'm better off getting another lane fed and protecting them from your laner than assisting you, i want you to be worth as little gold as possible because your feeding, and at the same time i can stop him from killing the other laners if their winning, i can't stop him from killing you or me. If i gank you and you get the kill, you'll get about 400g from it, but he's still 500 ahead of you, probably more if he's outfarming you, like there's no point in helping you because you'll still be behind and while i'm helping you the other jungler is probably trying to snowball another lane out of control, i need to stop your laner and the enemy jungler from snowballing another lane, not helping you because your losing 1v1 or getting camped, if your getting camped pucker up your ass and prepare yourself because i won't help you if your too far gone, again i'd rather you be worth as little gold as possible.

y0r1ck1 votes

But I didn't say anything about whether or not a lane is fed....

OBVIOUSLY if a lane is fed things change, I thought that was clear enough I didn't need to specify...

To be completely honest laners in general just irritate me because they don't properly call vision, they don't give me summer cool downs, they don't wait for me to help them, they don't tell me when enemies have ults, they don't call mia, they don't respond when you're being counter jungled or invaded.

I swear the only time I get good laners is when their enemies are worse than they are and so they win the lane on their own and don't feel the need to bother me with harassment. It's insane that you're expected to farm the jungle, ward, get objective control, and gank all 3 lanes all the time. As a rule laners should know that the jungle simply doesn't have the time to gank all 3 lanes equally, so one of them is either going to have to win or break even. But nope - they 1v1 and lose and instead of just accepting they lost their lane they blame you because you weren't there to help. FK laners.

I mained Mid/Top in previous seasons, and this is the first season where I mained jungle. I got 2 chat bans, back to back for the first time since season 5. I learned the hard way that jungling requires a different kind of composure. I never understood why queuing for jungle was so fast(even faster than support) until this season. I don't think many players have the endurance for the constant abuse game after game. It's so bad that I have to /mute all in 60% of my games now. To make matters worse, I tend to prefer farm heavy junglers, Shyvana being my main one but also Yi, and Nocturne make an appearance from time to time so the abuse I get is extra potent given that that these champs are level 6 junglers that prefer to farm instead of gank in the early game. You won't believe the kinds of things I get called game after game because of my farm heavy, counter jungling play style.

I've adapted to it though. It cost me two chat bans and my honor at level 0 but I get it now. Muting and/or ignoring your team mates is THE way to jungle. You're never EVER gonna get a fair shake as a jungler. You're gonna be blamed, flamed, abused and reported for absolutely nothing simply because your garbage laners don't want to face the fact that they are garbage. This is as much a part of jungling as knowing how to route, gank etc.

I'm going to get down-voted because there seems to be a kiss ass mentality when it comes to jungling and supporting, but here goes.

Me personally, I feel like the jungler SHOULD make an appearance in all lanes. Don't look at your laner who's almost out of health and mana, who most likely burned their summoner spells and expect them to help you with the gank when you do gank. If I see my laner has his summs up, has a reasonable amount of health and mana, then I'M GOING IN.

lastly you need to make sure that you're ganking WHEN THE ENEMY IS OVEREXTENDED. That I can't stress enough to junglers to do. This is coming from a lee sin jungle main.

Zerenza2 votes

See i agree, what i'm talking about is when the enemy laner is overextended but they're so far ahead that they can be. At that point usually my laner, let's say its Lux, is usually low on mana and health and wouldn't be able to help me if i ganked but say her enemy is a Zed with 3+ kills. At that point i can't do anything, cause if i go in it's a 1v1 and i'm probably not ahead enough.

In situations like that though, i actually ignore the lane and do my best to countergank him/enemy jungler and get my other laner's ahead. If on the off chance i can't do anything for them either, i just farm and gank the lane that has the highest chance of coming back, try to steal objectives if i can, sneak the dragon ect.

Side Note: If i ignore my Mid Laner and just let her get her ass kicked, she'll outscale zed eventually and be more useful later. Then i can get my bot/top ahead and they can help her out, even if she dies 5 more times, as long as he's only killing her and not my other laner's or me, it's fine because he'll get less gold for each kill, so even with 8 kills on lux he'll still be behind compared to 5 kills on my ADC or on myself. I know it's shitty but it's the best i can do in that situation, she just has to live with it.

I find people have a misconception about what a jungler is doing.

"Why are you always ganking top... we are losing bot."

Well... I am always ganking top precisely because you are losing bot. I'm not your catch-up mechanic (that's a good way to give the lane you already fed an extra kill). I'm your get-further-ahead mechanic.

You want ganks? Win your lane and we'll snowball together. If you have a rough early game, no problem... play safe and if you can sufficiently catch-up, you'll get ganks again. Or you'll go into the mid game slightly behind but with a fed top. Catch up then.

tl;dr: Jungles don't gank to "help you out" when you're behind. That's dumb.

True story. I'll do one if 1) I happen to be there, 2) the fed enemies are pushed, 3) they're not TOO fed (seriously, if you're both facing a 5/0 Draven, still not happening), 4) I am not behind myself, 5) I know where their own jg is if he's not already in that lane.

If the five pillars of a solid catch up gank are not there, well.... negative Ghost Rider, the pattern is full.

I expect the jungler to be around for objectives.

Nothing tilts me more when I ping enemy jungler top lane, head over to dragon while my own jungler is at the red side blue buff, and then they go to wolves and walk over to the upper half of the jungle.

It happens every. single. time.

Kitsunes Lust3 votes

fugging crumbs...

im a jg/mid/support, and here's what's up with the jg. we're gonna be behind early game. with this new jg update and the lack of EXP, the new meta now is invad enemy jg and take all their shit. and if you're the victim of that, we're gonna be behind 2-4 levels the entire game and if you're gonna feed like that example, there is absolutely NO WAY we can help at all because we are so underleveled, and because of you have no map awareness, we cant help you. it's n longer gank you 24/7 anymore. us junglers cant do that. for me, i dont turret dive. But every time they beg, they are always so pushed up and have no vision, then bitch to me..while im on the complete opposite side of them every time.

i cant help you if

  1. my camps are being stolen and i cant get EXP, which then sets me very behind in levels, making me very weak, forcing me to heavily tax your lanes so i can get EXP
  2. if you're feeding your ass off, cuz then i'd feed my ass off trying to help you because they are so fed
  3. im on the total opposite side of the map (i cant just practice tool shift+s over to top side when im on bot side or vise versa)
  4. you have no common sense of saftey, or map awareness and get yourself killed. (if you're all the way pushed up to their tower, ward the bushes, or back off to a place where you know you can be safe. if you dont you're basically opening yourself to a gank and we cant gank because they are under their turret, and they'd have the advantage of the gank because of the turret aggro)
  5. you're not even helping. if you're say low on HP or mana and begging for the gank, i cant do it myself while you sit there and watch me die, flaming me for being a moron because you didn't help. if you're low on mana/hp, you're gonna have to sacrafice some cs because if you're low on mana/hp, we cant just do it ourselves. ganks are supposed to be BOTH teammates killing that one person, not just one person, who's very under leveled because they cant get enough exp. if I'M going in, YOU'RE going in.

Also heres a fact. Junglers go to lanes more often when their laner successfully helps them, and a friendly to them as well (ex: good job, nj, thx, etc) and has a winning lane, which then encourages them to come back because you've helped them and you have a winning lane. If you do not have all of these, your junglers are less likely to gank your lane. So if you want a gank, ACTUALLY help us, dont hard feed your ass off, and actually be nice to us and be an ACTUAL TEAM PLAYER

if you're 0/4 by 9 minutes, and you're constantly pushing, and not warding, you need to think about what you're doing. because now that you've fed, your jungler has no way to help you because now they will feed.

Hovering Hentai3 votes

Lane control isn't the junglers problem - It's a Laners job to win against their opponent and take the steps like warding and positioning to ensure they don't lose.

The only thing I really want my jungler to do is have proper objective control over dragons and herald and when necessary, tower sieges and buff distribution.

This is something laner's don't seem to understand, like i'd rather have you feeding 1 person then help you and let that person you fed feed everyone else on their team. The less gold your worth the better.

Honestly, I used to main jungle. I still have it as secondary, but too many people bitch. ESPECIALLY in lower elo's they don't understand that if you are losing lane HARD, you aren't going to get ganks because the other (now fed) opponent could 1v2 and probably has a level or two on everyone.

It was a month or so ago I was Udyr, ganking and invading jung. I was 3/0 and getting nicely fed. Our TF was getting his ass handed to by a galio. Meanwhile our top lane was getting his ass handed too also finishing a dismal 2/12. Our bot lane started to pick it up later, but it was too-little-too-late and the Ashe and Morg combo ended the game with a combined 7/15 KDA. Our only hope in winning was the Ashe and Morg that were starting to pick up some slack. TF proceeds to tell me that it was all my fault for not ganking non-stop mid even though he A. Picked TF into Galio, B. died right away to him and got him fed and C, never ulted.

I finished the game 10/6 with easily the best Kills, most wards, most CS and so on...but still getting a mouthful from him.

And that's just a recent game. It happens ALL THE TIME. I feel your pain.

I have now transitioned into top lane (which used to be my secondary pick) and I am trying to get good at Camille and Quinn. Those are the two champs I have the most fun with now and they seem to be helpful in games. I pick accordingly to my lane opponent or team comp.

I find that after my first clear+gank+back Almost everytime I try to farm a camp there is always a pressing need for me to assist a lane and finishing the camp does not let me get to the lane in time. But always assisting every single time there is a fire leaves me behind in farm and makes my ganks impotent.

How do you decide when to ditch your camp halfway into farming and help vs finishing the camp instead?

You have to gauge your ability to get something out of your time. If, depending on the champions that will be involved (yours, allies and opponents) and the situation including how it will be once you get there, you think that you can accopmlish something for the team worth more than a couple of camps (usually at least a kill somehow) then feel free to ditch the camp, if not or you are unsure that your presence will be of much use then take the camp. If in doubt, always take the camp. Also if you judge your ability to carry your teammates to be high enough that you can make up for them later, also take the camp. Leaving one camp is not only losing that camp, it is hurting your future routing, and jungle respawn timings, so always be conservative when deciding to take risks half way through a camp.
