If Riot made a melee champion whose passive was "Immune to ranged champions"

It'd essentially be what Kalista is to melees right now

and I really don't want to hear crap about "herp derp, move around it or wait for it to go down". It's 100% immunity for several crucial seconds during a moment where every tiny movement and action is life or death, win or lose.

It's 100% immunity to projectiles, not ranged champions.

Isn't that pretty much Irelia anyways? Pick a range, proceed to get killed by her instantly even though she basically built tank.

Irelia can only negate the damage of one ranged champion for 2 seconds

Kalista existing automatically removes any impact you'll have as a melee champion for the whole game

Yes, and Irelia kills that range champion with-in those 2 seconds, then moves onto the next range champion and does the same thing. At least Kalista isn't immune to CC nor builds nearly full tank so she at least can be bursted down and cced, unlike Irelia. I honestly rather play against Kalista than Irelia.

Range Breaker: Incoming damage from 175+ units away are mitigated by 30%

Yeah like that?

No more like "incoming damage from 400 range+ units is negated"

I just got CertainlyT'd.

except that Kalista can die to melee characters if they have enough CC and you shouldn't even try to 1v1 a Kalista as a melee champion unless you are so fed that you can destroy her in one round of spells if you catch her (or put her low enough that all she wants to do is run away)

Anyway, I can't say I didn't see something like Kalista coming, I just didn't think it'd be so overbearing.

Yasuo - has an ability to block any ranged attack after it has been cast Braum - has an ability to block any ranged attack after it has been cast Azir - has an ultimate that undoes gap closers, a primary tool of melee champions Kalista - has a passive that let's her maintain a "bubble" of space between herself and l other champions.

After Yasuo and Braum getting abilities that could negate ranged champions abilities (and, most devastatingly, ultimates), I had a hunch something similar would come for melees.

Azir came out, and his ultimate bounced back a lot of gap closers, primary tools for melees. Ranged champions could still shoot over the wall and do damage, so this was more detrimental to melees, but it came at the cost of an ultimate. I thought Riot had found a fair way to balance out the mechanic. His stationary ability was more or less like Yasuo's Wind Wall, where if you got around it you could proceed as normal.

It seems Riot's implementation of Braum's Unbreakable was a constant space between the attacking melee champion and the other champion. While I'd originally thought it would be an ability that prevented champions from getting too close for a time, Riot decided to make it a passive that activated every auto attack...

We'll have to see if these "I counter Ranged/Melee" champions keep coming out, but I really hope this is the end of it for a while.

Kalista is actually weak to all-in melee types. She can only kite once she's already in range of say a Vi ult or Wukong dash into ult

This is a horrible comparison, most melees in the meta can deal with kalista easily if they have equal gold.
