Kennen feels too general and unfocused.

What is he particularly good for besides being a very niche counterpick?

Ekko does everything Kennen does, but better, Kennen's only advantage is that he runs on energy... But that's barely an advantage since he tends to run out of energy after one rotation anyways.

Kennen has poke, but there are many more champions who fill that role better, like Karma, Xerath, lux, Nidalee, Twisted Fate,

He has engage, assuming he has flash up and assuming he doesn't get locked down and die before he can Zhonya's. But champions like Sejuani and Amumu already do a lot of damage while having very strong engage. Why would you want to pick him in a wombo combo comp over somebody like Brand, Karthus, Zyra, vel'koz, Swain, ryze, annie, or orianna?

What is kennen? What is he supposed to be? He's just this very niche jack of all trades who is very unsatisfying to play.

Stun combo maker

Notice this was back in the day so this was the best combo that could be made.

Kennen has ranged autos which is a huge advantage and is manaless, which is another huge advantage. Ekko's stun is unreliable, Kennen's is reliable. In fact the only thing Ekko is better than Kennen at is running away.

Yeah, he's a good lane bully, but that's his only strength. And even then, there are others that can fill that same niche. Just look at lane bullies who can also initiate. Karma, Pantheon, Gangplank in certain matchups, and renekon are all champions who can initiate/lead teamfights while being lane bullies. Yeah, he's a lane bully, but he's still quite niche as a lane bully.

But the fact that he is energy based is not the same as being completely resourceless, because kennen will run out of energy very fast in extended fights.

I can see where you're coming from, as he feels more like a generalist with consistent, but unexceptional damage and utilities and the need to take a risk and close in on his enemies. From what I know recently he's usually played in two ways:

First, he can be played as a top-lane AP scaling bruiser. This usually means focusing on his shurikens for poke and chaining stuns to lock down aggressive fighters and assassins (assuming he doesn't just die from a combo, hence building like a fighter). He also works well with sustain like Hextech Revolver since his damage is essentially free.

Second - and this is how I play him - is as a bottom-lane hybrid damage carry. Early on he's mostly about bullying the enemy lane with free poke to deny the enemy carry, then slowly transitioning to doing AA damage using the passive on his W. Here he doesn't build like a typical carry, and instead rushes Bortk and Runaan's Hurricane to apply his W passive as much as possible.

Most of the games I play I don't get fed, but he seems like a low-risk carry who just needs a good teamfight to get ahead. Going solo is really bad for him here, as he can lock down enemies, but can't defend himself beyond a single stun. In exchange, 5v5 teamfights almost always go your way if you have your ultimate up, as he can stun an entire enemy team for the res to take down. If squishier enemies try to engage on you, it's easy to turn the fight around and try to escape with his speed boost, so try hit-and-run tactics before closing in.

Overall, I think he's a good pubstomper, but I don't know how well he is in ranked games. I heard he's popular in the pro scene, but I can't confirm where.

Scrub detected.

Sejuani was gutted across the board, she does not do "a lot of damage" nor does she have "very strong engage". Amumu is debatable, Sejuani is not.

She does a fuckton of damage, she's one of the most damaging tanks ( Besides singed ). And she doesn't have strong engage? Are you serious? An AOE stun, knockup, and 70% slow isn't strong engage?

sej is kinda garbo man

sej doesn't even come close to the damage she used to do post and pre-rework

nor does she come close to the cc she used to have

Have you... actually played Sejuani?

I'll check your stats but I can already tell you will be very low rated... Oh big surprise, you're bronze V... let me explain to you; Sejuani's damage is absolutely atrocious, it was gutted because of Cinderhulk, then Cinderhulk was nerfed leaving her with very low base and very low scaling damage across the board.

Her engage is questionable because her ult stun doesn't last very long and her slow was gutted from potential 3 second slow to 1.5 second slow. Her knockup is not a traditional knockup, it lasts a very short time and the range is atrocious. The short of it is; Even if you land every single skill perfectly (Good luck with that) you will not be doing much damage and your disabling power will be mediocre. Nautilus has much stronger/reliable disabling power in addition to BEING WAY MORE TANKY, and Amumu has much higher damage than Sejuani leaving her somewhere in the middle, but failing at both pretty damn hard. Though she theoretically has greater CC than Amumu, in practical terms Amumu is a much greater CC threat. Again theoretically she does more damage than Nautilus, but in practice Naut will tend to outdamage her.

Basically, you are presenting Bronze V arguments because you are Bronze V. Sejuani is one of the worst characters right now, right near Urgot and Sona.

I'm not bronze 5, that's a complete fucking lie, I'm silver 4. I took a year long break from ranked then climbed from bronze 4 to silver 4 with a 70% winrate as singed the second half of the season. I'm planning on continuing on to gold as soon as the next season starts.

So you can fuck right off.

I don't think I was even bronze 5 last season, so no matter what, that's just a blatant fucking lie,

regardless of rank Sejuani was beefed up long enough to sell the poro skin then she was gutted along with cinderhulk leaving her useless in almost any situation. Honestly i would rather have an ashe for the slow CC and the stun then Sejuani

You're right, you were Bronze V last season, you're Silver IV this one... what a big difference /sarcasm

My point remains, you're a complete scrub as evidenced by both your terrible stats and your atrocious arguments, gg.

Kennen murks ekko in lane

and is way more reliable in teamfights

Yenn1 votes

Kennen loses to almost every top lane. The problem is that 99% of posters here are Silver trash, and Kennen punishes bad players.
