If Darius uses Q and the blade hits a clone, he heals off that clone. He can ult the clone and he can refresh noxian might off the clone.
Illaoi can't heal with her Q or any tentacles on clones and her ult does not work on champion clones.

Quepha2 votesIllaoi gets those bonuses because she's directly affecting a champion's spirit, leeching its essence and pulling it out of its physical vessel. A clone is merely an imitation and doesn't actually have a soul.
Darius gets his bonuses from his own personal bloodlust and the thrill of battle. While the clones are imitations he still feels the impact of his blade into flesh, sees the splash of blood and thirsts for more.

Darius doesn't share any of those negative attributes, and even though he isn't meta right now, everyone in the League community knows the D man.

Troll for Trump1 votesIllaoi's laning is worse than Darius post E nerf, though that's fair. Darius, in some matchups, can make laning phase hell for the opponent. Illaoi can't really do that; She doesn't have a set of champs she can hard counter, and with the counterplay potential that Riot presents on her, people who know how Illaoi works will do well.
Illaoi has more reach against ranged champs than Darius, though it's still annoying. Illaoi bring pure dmg, Darius has at least some peel.
Darius also has better TP ganks

Ackelope1 votesTo my knowledge her ult and heal do work on clones. Saw a video of a massive amount of Illaoi ults using a team of Shacos vs a team of Illaois, and her ult and heal worked on all the Shaco clones.
