I really miss the old Cassiopeia...

I know nothing will ever bring the old Cassiopeia back, but I just figured I'd share with my other Cassiopeia fans how much I miss her... :(

I miss maxing out Noxious Blast first, for the wave pushing and harass. Petrifying Gaze doing massive damage late game, and Twin Fang doing great damage but not in an overloaded sense like it does now. Riot took away the uniqueness of her identity, and made her into a dull one-trick-pony champion... :(

I really want her to be a Poison Mage and not a machine gun.

I can relate, I used to love playing veigar but now he's farm champion #242342 which utterly annoys me.

He got back to back hits with DFG removal and "compensation" buffs.

The new AP changes have actually made that playstyle more viable again with: item 3070 > item 3116 > item 3151 >item 3003 > ...

I prefer other builds, but if the enemy team has alot of tanks with gapclosers, this build works wonders.

Her best and intended playstyle has always been maxing E first, the bugs/clunkiness of her Twin Fangs is what kept her down and in return she got higher ratio's on her Noxious Blast.

That said I understand the fantasy and I see it as Cassiopeia having two identities, unfortunately from a game design POV it's very hard if not impossible to have these two particular identities in one champion.

There's the poison mage fantasy: slowly killing an enemy from afar with patience and cunning, and there's the relentless pursuer fantasy: biding your time, waiting for a single mistake and then BAM relentlessly chasing the prey.

I agree that it's not really possible to be able to create a poison mage AND a pursuer champion. But the AP changes don't make the poke playstyle more viable. She lost 70% of her Miasma damage in both scaling and base damage. They buffed her Q, to almost where it was. But no items help that playstyle come back. She still needs to proc her Twin Fang twice to get any kind of poison amp, and the difference in the amount of dmg between landing Q's and Landing 6 E's in 3 seconds is so vast, you are actually hindering your team now.

Like you said, the bugginess beforehand allowed it to be possible to do both, now...not so much.

The AP item changes definitely made it more viable than before, there's no arguing with that, however it didnt make it more viable than Twin fang-centric playstyle.

It actually is very strong against a tanky enemy team and truly delivers on the poison fantasy. You just slowly kill their frontline while kiting (but still killing them faster than if you had gone full ap read: you would die). They build MR? np you got magic pen, they build hp? np you got % hp dmg. While if you go full AP and you're not superfed you wont be able to kill their tanks without going OOM or getting killed bc you're squish.

So, yeah, it doesnt entirely bring the poison style back, but when you see their team being tanky and all, think about going this route.

I would go:

item 3003 item 3116 item 3151 item 3001 item 3135 item 3020 or item 3111 (for kiting)

You will basically be doing 18% current HP true damage by landing one Noxious Blast. (35% Mpen + 50 flat Mpen + 5 total procs of which 4 are while slowed so are doubled). You could opt out of Tear and go with item 3165 since you will max Q and W first and you want to spam those more often + lower mana cost on E.

petrifying gaze dose still do massive damage late game when you have 1200 ap. Even more the before

She really just needed some bug fixes, the E new poison check mechanic and perhaps a little buff to her old passive.

I think it would have given her same power with better reliability

Meh... they only changed her playstyle and if you maxed Q majority of the time (like I did), she was pretty much a "one-trick-pony" back then also. Not much has changed however, besides the obvious; new passive and the power-shift from Q to E.
