Morgana hasn't been mainly a mid laner since Season 2
Zyra was a mid laner for a few months after her release and then she's been mainly a support since Season 2 worlds and IPL5
These champs aren't midlaners, stop living in a fantasy world

main as i do end up getting her more in ranked as i jungle primary support secondary.. so while i cant comment on zyra...
mid is EXTREMELY good. the issue is.. its ALSO extremely BORING to play. you litterally walk up... use W on cast minion wave and it dies (once u have 3 point in "W" which u max first when mid) its completely non-interactive. its great because you can easily farm your near impossible to to die gank becuase of your spellshield and root... AND your completly piss off any person who doesn't want a farm lane.. but.. still still BORING to play... and thats why u see it so rarely... not beciase she is BAD mid lane... but becuase its much more fun "shooting Q on targets and trying to proc 
with your W and setting up kills for your adc".. than "walking up pressing W, and walking back under your tower"

she is actually only a soft-counter to 
.. as his hook is on a shorter cooldown... and if he lands it, its on a MUCH shorter cooldown.
so while the spellshield does counter him when its up.. a good thresh will make you use it and then use it again when its not up
