These mana changes are going to destroy mage supports - check my math!
So, I play Support Zilean at a pretty high level (I'd like to think!) I'm terrified of these mana changes destroying my playstyle with him.
SO i sat down and did some math - the numbers aren't turning up very good for me. At about level 5-6, things SHARPLY go downhill. ** The mana regen cut @ level 5 after coming back with an early tear is awful. **
I already had to be extremely careful of spending mana against Nami or Janna - they would always win the mana war against me - If i picked up an early tear against them, I could at least outscale, and turn the tides (heh!) around come levels 8-10. I don't think I'll have that ability anymore, so I'm not sure how to outplay someone who negates all of my damage and outsustains me on top of that.
I'm willing to give it a shot, the early game is going to be about the same, honestly. Maybe I'll be able to avoid purchasing a tear all-together with these changes, but then I strongly fear my scaling potential will be hit pretty hard. Running out of mana on Zilean is a huge no-no.
I have some honest questions for the dev team...
1.) With the community crying foul over the power of ADCs and your talk about 'creating an ADC-less' route for players to go - why are you nerfing caster-style champions? If your going to gate casters late-game by nerfing mana regeneration items, then how are we supposed to have ANY kind of chance at competing with a lategame carry? I don't see any damage buffs in there.... Furthermore, Mages have VERY few tools to deal with well built tanks, and this just hurts our capacity to deal with and sustain against them.
2.) If your targeting supports with this change, It is absolutely the wrong way to go. **I humbly ask that you look at champions who have easy-to-use mana-efficient shields. ** Would you at least consider introducing options for mage-supports? I can understand you taking away the regen on spelltheifs, so mana regen doesn't get bloated early, but why on Frostfang?
