AD Needs Toning Down

What's The Problem AD is getting really out of hand at the moment, its becoming so strong that you can do equal or more damage than an APC burst champion, this is just stupid the whole point of an APC is to burst down a champion with there abilities but then having nothing while those abilities are down, but now you can just build AD and often do alot more damage (especially now), with a full build AD you can get 500-600 AD, which if you ad crits to that you will do 1250-1500 damage, this is often more than an APC can do with an ability and this is just the AA of a champion, this is just stupid, the whole point of an ADC is to do consistent damage over time, not to burst down a champion in 2 hits, it also really breaks balance due to the fact that APC are useless when there abilities are down but AD is fine cause you just AA.

What Can Be Done? Here are a few things that I believe should be looked at:

  1. Remove crits, RNG should not be in the game and late game it gives far to much burst.
  2. Reduce AD, late game it just gets out of hand and does far to much.
  3. Focus more on DPS rather than burst.

Riot will often talk about "Strategic Diversity", but when one set of champions can basically "Do It All" it feels really stupid and duel that the game has basically become protect the ADC.

Were you naturally special, or did someone drop you?

AD has always had higher potential than AP, due to the fact that AP works in bursts while AD works over time. AP does 2000 damage in 1 second; AD deals 4000 damage over the 8-second cooldown of that AP's 2000 damage. This is the rule of thumb for difference between AD and AP. This has always been the fundamental difference between AD and AP.

AP doesn't have the strongest late-game. It has the strongest laning phase and the strongest transition into team fights initially. That's how they work normally.

It use to be that, but now with the new dragon buff (8% bonuses) and the new elixirs AD is more burst than ever before and it really does = to AP or more.

Can you mathematically prove this point, or are you saying this with no basis?

Burden of proof falls to you, if you're going to claim that AD has equal/stronger burst compared to AP.

Zed, Yasou, Talon and pant disagree with you.

They'll do 2000 in 1s AND then another 4000 over the next 8s and/or god forbid, random critical for 1200 dmg. Did I mention they also have life steal, cleave (hydra) and generally manaless?

More like 3000 in 1s and 2000 over the next 8s. Assassins are odd like that. o.0

  1. Does the phrase "Rule of Thumb" escape you, or did you overlook it?

  2. Kuroi's comparison is more accurate; AD assassins' burst combos still deal much more damage than their DPS during cooldown.

Original post was about AD casters, not adc/bruiser. You are welcome.

JustMyBassCannon1 votes

Right, which is why the OP specifically refers to Crit as the number one problem-- OH, WAIT, SHIT, AD "casters" don't use Crit!

You're welcome.

Everyone uses IE. what are you smoking?

I see Pantheon using it, entirely because of his E passive.

I have not seen Zed or Talon use it with any level of frequency. I can't say I've never seen it, but I also can't say I've never seen a Garen with Rabadon's Deathcap, an Annie with Atma's Impaler, or a Riven with Hextech Gunblade.

Pretty much this ^^^ And AD besting an AP generally follows a very simple rule. The AD is putting everything into sustaining through the damage. Do that, and you will win the fight.

I wanna know how do you get 500 AD as ADC.

I wanna know how ADCs "do it all" that seems more like a mage stuff.

APCs useless? why is this even getting upvotes what the fuck?

boss100001 votes

New dragon buff and elixirs you can get that easy.

AD has always had the natural advantage that it not only scales with abilities but your autos as well.

But APC generally have more mobility Kalista Zed Yasuo

But APC generally have more burst from range Jayce

Really, if resistances didn't exist there wouldn't be much reason to play AP champions -- the only edge they have is that if you go all AD then it's too easy to stack armor.

The fact you use Jayce for the APC, erm Jayce is a prime example of what im saying he builds AD not AP

I think he means that the argument is that usually mages have burst, but then there's jayce who has AoE Nid spears.

You cannot get 500-600 AD as an ADC unless you invest EVERYTHING into AD which would be cool and all but there is no super AD item in the game with AS.

You would need 6 Bloodthirsters, Infinity Edges, Essense Reavers, or Mercuri's Scemitars to gain 480 AD, sacrificing boots (really good for ADC) and attack speed (an essential on an ADC). This would make you deal lots of initial damage (yeah your going to deal 900 maybe 1300 damage), but then you will get bursted down since you will be so squishy and be unable to continuously deal super damage. The only person that breaks this rule is Tristana , but she needs this because she has no AD scaling on anything.

If you are speaking of Assassins, they also have a disadvantage since majority of the really big Assassins are melee and it is incredibly hard to carry from being a Melee without AS too. You will also sacrifice lots of defenses as well so you will die even quicker than as an ADC with 6 AD items.

At most you will be getting in the high 300s in AD, maybe 400 if you are crazy fed. After that you need other stats to multiply this.

Also AD has always had the constant damage advantage over AP since APCs deal a lot more burst damage and their damage can be in many different forms. Very little APCs have constant damage.

The salt is real. Magic resist just got nerfed into the ground. Saying ADCs burst harder than an AP Caster is flatout wrong. Stating bullsh1t like this is unconstructive.
