Even on Live he is a Tank that has the playstyle of an Assassin often, so I kept that in mind for this rework

I also made him similar in style to Zed since they were taught by the same exact master

Notable Changes:

  • More mobility
  • Actual AoE clearing potential
  • Healing removed
  • More CC and teamfighting presence
  • Far more initiation, engaging and ninjaing but FAR less dueling

Shen an actual ninja now

P: Not attacking or taking damage generates stacks and at max stacks Shen deals an AoE auto attack spin (No AS reliance anymore because thats too fightery)

Q: Shen immediately lunges forward to damage and slow, and lunges a second time if the first hit a target (NINJA DASH)

W: spell shield that teleports shen behind the target if absorbed a spell, silences and damages the target. Energy back each time this works. (More fitting of "Feint")

E: brief delay then shen disappears from the game and reappears at target location, taunting all targets. Energy back per target hit. (a true "Shadow Dash" and reminiscent of Zed's R)

R: 5500 range ground targeted teleport that grants a shield to allies per second of channel and an MS bonus for allies upon arrival_ (can't ult from top to bot anymore but gets pantheon like initiation) _

I hate every time when someone says "Shen has to be a ninja".

What's wrong with a beefy ninja? Is the stereotype so sacred it's not changable nor is it tolerant to any innovation at all?

This is coming from someone who watches animes daily, is one of those who you call a "weeb" and is ofc, a Shen lover. You know why I like animes?

Because stereotypes don't usually stay forever, they get upgraded, changed and branched out into sub categories over time.

It's not wrong to have Shen as a duelist.

Remain Shen as a dueling bruiser with global presence, don't take him anywhere, don't even think about making him assassin.

Nothing is wrong with a beefy ninja, but he doesn't play like a Ninja even remotely. Ninjas aren't duelists or skirmishers. They are mobile crazy guys. Shen can still be a tank and be a ninja.

Ninjas are basically mercenaries in Japan's old era, they weren't sent directly onto the battlefront doesn't mean they weren't trained as jack of all trades.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ninjutsu

Ninjas can still fight face to face.

Hell even when they were assassinating VIPs, they at least had to fight bodyguards, it's not that simple.

Let's not mention the original 3 ninjas actually represents the 3 aspects of ninjas. Kennen stands for supernatural ninjutsu that was introduced into media lately, Akali stands for the assassin and mobile aspect of ninjas, while Shen represents their honour codes. Zed is actually the outliner here.

But really who cares if Shen is historically right or not, it's a game set in a fictional realm, let them have freedom of creativity. A beefy dueling ninja is not wrong.

I'm an avid shen player and I like a few of the ideas. Namely the ult and E ideas.

I do have a suggestion however. Simple change but would make it a lot more active/skill based. Move the taunt to the Q and the slow to the E, BUT leaving the Q's energy cost as it is on live (The live-E cost I mean). What this does is force a Shen player to initiate with the Q-taunt, and then use one of his other non-ult spells to get energy back to use the Q a second time. It also prevents the Shen player from using on of the other spells to initiate and get a double cast of Q in the same combo (because over-fill on the energy refund). How does that sound?

Thats a good idea.

I like this but It would be scary to see a tank assasin. Because let's say someone were to be attacked by a ninja and thinks the ninja will be squishy, but the ninja is a absolute Mountain.

Yeah but he doesn't have burst or really any way to assassinate you, hes just a tank that plays like an assassin in terms of mobility and general playstyle.

P: I like what he has now.

Q: I like his old Q better.

W: His old feint needs some changes, just not these.

E: His old E definitely need to be changed. Just not like this.

R: I like his old R better.

Shen doesn't need a rework, just buffs in different places (like the heal on his Q).

Riot already said they're changing his passive, his q, and his w, and keeping his R and his E basically the same.

Besides "it's iconic", is there any reason we have a tank ninja?

An evasion and counter-tactic tank is a really cool idea that hasn't been explored fully in League yet outside of Shen, and a Ninja seems like the best archetype for that type of champion.
