Thank You very much for the Shen Rework!!! :')

I know it hasn't hit live yet, but I just wanted to show my gratitude as a long time LoL player (s2) and a long time shen main (s3). I must admit I was scared of what Riot would do to Shen, I thought I wouldn't recognize him when they were through with him but I must admit this rework was very well-done and the abilities were very well chosen and placed.

For those of you who don't know how good the changes really are:

  1. Shen's new Passive gives a him a shield that soaks up damage as some of you may know but it also scales with hp now and it also scales per lvl while old shen had AP scaling and had to put points in it to increase the base value.

  2. Shen had a very binary, stat checking playstyle... Now he deals dmg based on enemy health with and increase in dmg if his sword passes through them leading for a mini-game lane position dominace, which is very thematic as in most fights in all about showing dominance. This was something shen needed for some time now, not just for thematics but he needed the oppurtinity to deal great amounts of damage if he was ever able to pull off a trick (in this case make the sword pass through his enemies) and I find it very fair.

  3. Another thing shen needed was good damage mitigation that was strong at low levels and only increased in strength as the game progressed and "Spirit's Refuge" gave him that. The fact that it completely negates basic attacks and only reduces cooldown with each rank allows "Shadow Dash" to be the prime candidate for the ability to max 2nd everytime. This allows him to take more dmg without loss of tankability and to reduce energy costs for better mid to late game performance.

  4. For the last two abilities not much changed still love them and glad they made it onto the new kit. For me they were what made shen addicting :P

Anyways I just wanted to show my gratitude as a long time LoL player and Shen main. Been playing since around age 14 - 15... now i'm 20 lol boy does time fly.

Ty Rito, Ty DillonMostDirty!!! we got same name xD

I like the rework too... But be prepared for him to straight up lose a good number of matchups, unlike old shen who is just a solid pick.

All old shen had over new shen was a bit of poke (hardly an advantage with it's mediocre range) and sustain that useful outside lane till he got like 3 to 4 solid tank items.

And that sustain/ poke made him an unkillable force that could cs while zoned and under tower. It's a big change.

He still has sustain it's just that it's in the form of damage negation. So you have to be wise about how you use your abilities that's all. Every time they come in for trade press Q and get the shield. Shen's health regen got nerfed a couple of months before this rework. They reduced the base which was very important to shen as it gave 22 base at rank 5 and went down to 15 so I don't think it'd be better than what he has now. Which would you rather? To be able to regenerate like 200hp over the course of like 4-5 seconds are stop a barrage of attacks from harming you and your teammates? Late game it'd probably be able to block 3-4 attacks from the ADC and 2 from everyone else... That's a lot of negation if you consider crits. The healing was good for lane but with the addition of Grasp of the Undying and that mastery that increases healing, he'd not sustainless at all just less healing more dmg block.

Not arguing that point. Any ranged lane bully Vayne Quinn Graves Jayce is going to mop the floor with him. And that's my only complaint.

The biggest threat here I see is Quinn. After the marksman update she totally wrecked me when I was playing regular shen. I've wiped the floor with the rest in top lane and I will let you know poke and my itty bitty sustain wasn't what helped be win because against the vayne I still had to recall quite a bit.

Nevertheless, I see your point, the fact that they poke you down with auto before going all in and kill you, doesn't seem counterplayable at all right? But ever playstyle has a counter to it. The worst part about not having any poke is that every time you hit them you also take minion agro so listen my friend to what you do.

Whenever they come in to snag an auto ignore your minions and taunt them, then use Q for dps boost and W to block their auto attacks. W also blocks auto attacks of minions and I think turrets (not sure about turrets) and unlike kindred's or bard's ult only you and your allies benefits from it so your attacks against them within the zone will hit. You'll chunk them haard and considering you taunted them near your minions they'll get chunk even harder so after you do that the little dmg you take while walking away because W ended will be soaked up by your passive. Then just play passively until your W returns... You have an attack that blocks minion attacks as well as champs so thiers nothing scary about going all in.

Note: the best build for this playstyle is ad on mark, mov spd on quints and scaling resistances and seals and glyphs.

I admit I wanted health regain to stay as a mechanic for shen with his E and R but that was before Grasp of the Undying came. Yet I still would like a healing or healing increase somewhere so GoU doesn't become a de facto, so I can Run full 18 down the Cunning tree to get shield increase for me and my allies :3 As for as range goes I wasn't sad that old q got scrapped because I knew they would have to compensate by making him a better dueler, giving him strong offense/ defense. I'm not sure if his new kit is stronger against squishies because they generally have low health but he is very iffective against bruisers and tanks. Also shadow dash got better scaling so it will do way more damage than old shadow dash did in an average tank shen build.
