Akali’s healing

The Ecdysiast··3 votes·997 views

Akali has extremely high healing, and was given added synergy with Gunblade despite the fact spellvamp was removed for less-mobile, higher cooldown, mana champions.

That alone is fine. But healing is supposed to be balanced by a LACK of escape, with the intention that you are staying and healing instead of leaving. But the added blink on top of her cloak gives her defense against ganks that make her single-item ability to 2v1 too easy to reach with very little risk at early levels. And even her ultimate can be used to escape, with much higher range, since it's almost guaranteed there will be enemy minions behind her when she dives in.

Nevermind the fact that a cloak with a blink is inherently unbalanced (similar to %HP true damage in that the combined aspects completely delete the strongest possible counterplay).

Akali is SO HOT2 votes

Unless there are minions nearby Akali doesn't have an escape

Which was true two years ago.

A blink+cloak IS an escape, especially since control wards don't reveal her.

executioners calling and morrelo is a very easy items to get costing only 800 gold to stop her from healing so much and maby thinking ahead as to knowing how far can she actually get if we play this far ahead. its nothing that would need a nerf or rebalancing and as rude as it may sound i think maby your foresight and planing is mostly at fault

I hate to be that guy who chimes in like a 2nd rate asshole, but I would never recommend item 3165 as a counter to healing. Only because you have to get them below 35% health for it to kick in and a good Akali will never let you get near her with that little health.

Alkali has weak trades against mages if you play smart. Until she gets her Ult, you can kite her and poke her down, making Morellonomicon viable if you can farm and complete it ahead of her gunblade.

"A champion has weak trades only against a few hard counters" is never an argument for that champion being balanced.

Frankly Alkali isn't balanced. She's weak as a puppy before she hits level 6 and has her first item complete. If you are a fairly competent player you should be able to bully her in lane unless she hard counters the champ you chose. If you and your team play just a little smart, you can turn your lead in lane into advantages in any fight she enters. Like any assassin, she can be a nasty threat if you let her get a lead and if your team doesn't work to protect the carries from her, but you really need to give her chances to get there...but mistakes can be exploited by a LOT of champs and classes of champs, not just Alkali and assassins.

That's all true assuming the Akali player is an intermediate level bot. Anyone experienced with her knows how to play safe around her weak 1-5, which isn't a long portion of the game.

Like any assassin, an experienced player doesn't need you to "let" them get a lead. They get it because they have brains in their skulls and you didn't pick Malzahar.

They need to take some of the healing from her passive and make her proc Q to get the full effect. Right now she can just throw Qs on her enemy laner and attack minions to heal during the whole lane phase. Get close? Just procs the Q on you for extra damage anyways. Goes back to throwing Qs on you and healing off of minions until she can kill you.

Her only escapes are the 50% flash range W and Ult has conditions. And an Akali that manages to build up a wave behind her as a failsafe should be rewarded for choosing the time to engage.

The Ecdysiast1 votes

Sure, she should... if the fact she heals for 50% of her health each combo didn't make that too much to fall back on. It's almost like you didn't read the post.
