Can we stop adding all these Delays as a form of counter-play for reworks/new champs?

I think its fine to have it on some champions, and it makes sense on a few, but having a lockout as way of balance recently seems too common... Again i know it helps balance certain abilities, but can we not resort to it for every champion -_-

UrgotE (and i havnt played him, but i heard sm1 say his Q locks his movement briefly as well) GalioE Rakan W Xayah Q (wasnt on release but they nerfed it to have a lockout) Gragas R was given a fixed travel time. Rengar .. every spell? Kayn W Ill try to give more but im starting a game =]

im asking who you think this is a problem on

Thats all debatable.. I think the lockout on Urgot's Q is dumb, the change to Gragas R having a fixed travel time is a lazy way to balance him. I won't get started on Rengar.. The lockout on Xayah's Q is another lazy and stupid way to balance her. I'm fine with Galios E.. but why is it also on Urgots? The brief ramp up time.. Why couldn't they balance him around not having that delay?

I don't necessarily think Urgot's Q lockout is a cornerstone mechanic to balancing him but I do think that removing cast times on all abilities that don't necessarily have delays would enhance league of mobility (which is a bad thing).

Cast lockouts are important imo. Otherwise you get people like Orianna and Syndra abusing Ghost due to no lockouts stuttering their movement.

I never said all spells should have it removed... i'm just saying its kinda getting annoying that it seems to be a staple fix/preemptive.

Yeah and I'm saying it's necessary

Some champs it makes sense like the casters you mentioned. But ones like WW ult, it really doesn't. He is supposed to be able to chase people down with his move-speed and the way his ult has a quick stop before he flies is counteractive of the rest of his kit.

gragas got that R change because he could guarantee a kill on anyone he chose in LCS.

Urgot has a delayed dash, so does Galio

Sion pretty much revolves around delayed abilities

Taric's stun and ult are crazy strong but have a delay to make it balanced

Rakan's W has a delay before the knockup

I don't think it's as prevalent as OP says, but it has been a recent design philosophy for Riot.

shoutout to Illaoi her full rotation locks her in place for a good day or two

Leaving windows for counterplay lets you make the champion more generally powerful and have matchus be more skill based as opposed to just comparing their kits and seeing who counters who.

Because time-dependent skills are some of the best designed skills in the game and that's pretty much a fact at this point. Skills that used to be awful and make a champ binary were skills like Darius Q. He's in a much better/more balanceable spot because that delay was added.

They also made it so it gives him a serious heal.. I'm not complaining about the cast animations in that matter.. I'm talking more like Olaf pausing to throw an Axe type of deal.

Sion locks himself in place when he does anything short of ulting.

lol Even ulting kinda locks him for a split second.

But the difference is his Q actually does something different for the duration ur locked.
