Should Nashors tooth cost 2800?

I know stat wise it is a very cost efficient item, but there's a reason for that. The stats it puts together don't really work well together.

It provides AP and attack speed. Not many champs can use those stats together. It also kinda competes with AD items in terms on damage per hit, but doesn't do as much damage as Ad items do.

The main thing it does it help AP champ proc built in on hit effects faster. Champs likeKayle Teemo Diana. When you think of it, its kinda like the equivalent of item 3046 item 3087 to AD champs. But those items cost 2700 ad 2800. Also the damage it does on it own is similar to those items if not less.

So should Nashors tooth cost 2800? Would that be broken?

I think it would likely be broken.

Even champs that don't usually care about attack speed would buy it at that price just for the 20% cdr and the AP. Now, if what you're arguing is that they should readjust stats to make it actually worth the 2800... maybe. If they lop off some AP, I could see that working out.

According to the LOL Wikia, it's actually 139% gold efficient already, since apparently the combination of the attack speed, AP, CDR, and on-hit damage gives it a gold value of 4198.33.

Making it cheaper would probably just make it overbearing on the champions that already use it, even if you nerf the AP, while not actually helping the champions that don't consider it. I'm against its cost going down because of that, tbh.

Well, that's just the thing. The only champions I can even think of that use it are Diana and Azir, and they are both very underwhelming atm (both tier 5 mids on op.gg).

If you reduced the cost and the AP, you could give them a bit of a break and help them reach viability without buffing other AP mids. On the contrary to your point, that's exactly when you want to think about changing an item.

Kaisa actually picks it up fairly often, as did Varus when his AP build was the go-to, and it's often rushed on both Teemo and Kayle.

Truth be told it's probably just a matter of a strong champion gating the item behind lock and key over fear of it pushing them over the edge. It's got a notable niche and I can see it being reasonably buffed like you say it should be, but that should probably wait until we see where Kai'sa lands after her power-down.

Yeah, that's fair. I was mostly thinking about the item for mages, but kai'sa, in particular, is strong enough without an item buff. She's definitely one to keep in eye on if they pushed Nashor's changes.

Nah, it's build path is already really simple and convenient.

Nashor's Tooth is fine at 3000

One thing you have to consider is the champs that build Nashor's Tooth tend to have built-in on-hit effects that scale with AP already, and can build it together with items like item 3124 to have really high magic damage DPS coming from their items. (Looking at you, Kaisa)

Making it cheaper gives them access to this item sooner, and it, like most other items centering around basic attacks, grants multiplicative power when the items you buy with it have decent enough synergy. It serves a pretty clear niche right now, and for the gold value it already has (see my reply to KnightsKemplar below) it probably doesn't even need a buff right now.
