Helping out your top laner.

What i'v noticed a lot of lately is that Jungler's really don't like to help their top laner out. Doesn't matter how much you ping for assistance, doesn't matter how much you ask nicely for it or how much you flame someone for it, it's rare to get help.

First things first, yes i know that there are many factor's that dictate whether a jungler can gank your lane or not. Being pushed into the enemy tower, really far behind ect. But in many cases that's just not the case, i play top lane A LOT, i play mid lane as well but top is my main. I don't often ask for ganks because i play champions that don't want them, for the crucial fact that i really don't expect gank's anymore.

Every so often though i get a bad match up, or i get into a match up where the enemy can play super safe(Gangplank). In those cases, like say i'm playing RIven, riven has a pretty considerable amount of counter's, Ranged counter's such as Jayce, Kennen and Teemo are something she really just can't deal with without help from her jungler. Counter's like Malphite, Galio and Maokai(though tanks are pretty weak right now this is an example.) are too tanky for her to kill and can farm really well, meaning she can't do anything against them. With riven she doesn't NEED to get ahead but she needs to be able to do something, she can't split push against all of the champions i just listed and she can't sit there and 1v1 them for 20 minutes because it's a waist of her time. This means that as the jungler you should attempt to help her, many riven player's know how to play against these match ups, they know how to not die but because of how hard some of these champions counter her, she can't kill them alone and can't take their tower to go and do things somewhere else such as teamfight, it might also be very difficult to push against them to roam, something she needs to do.

If your top laner isn't losing and is pushed in pretty far, it's nice to help them out, one gank is all it takes sometimes in top lane to turn the lane in your allies favor but in many cases jungler's just don't want to.

You can carry from more than just Mid and Bot, top lane has plenty of carries and snowballer's too they just need help sometimes. You literally can't expect some champions to win some match up's in top lane, Pantheon is the best example because if your top laner is against pantheon, he's not going to win lane 65% of the time, Pantheon has a massive winrate before the 25 minute mark, it's actually about 65% meaning that lane phase is MASSIVELY in his favor.

Now, it's understandable not to gank top lane if it's literally just two tanks, you get nothing from it but if your top laner is a Juggernaut, Fighter or Carry top laner, it's nice to gank them because they have a very high chance of carrying the game off of one or two kills.

Like, have you ever had a yorick with one kill walk out of your own top lane, take 3 tower's and help win a teamfight? Cause i have, one gank, one that's all it took for me to snowball a game out of control with Yorick, he's incredibly good at taking objectives, meaning helping him take his first tower or giving him one kill can turn into something HUGE. All juggernauts, fighter's and carry tops can do this, i just know yorick does it really well cause i main him.

TLDR: Jungler's, i know top lane doesn't look that appealing sometimes, but one gank up top when they ask nicely for it could mean the difference between winning and losing a game.

THANK YOU. What gets me the most is when I die under tower to a dive, and say "hey they have no sums, and they're under my tower for like 10 minutes now" only for DickNose McShoehorn to tell me those magical words that tilt me harder than a Lucian spamming emote every time he dashes:

"Just play safer"

2nd most tilting is when 2 or 3 gank top and my jungler thinks it's a bad time for dragon.

your jungler is probably going to suck every game and since there is nothing you can do about it u have to go into lane prepared to basically 1v2

i'm not much of a jungler, hell i don't even play norms... but i always feel like top lane always has the lowest pay off to help. typically both top laners exclusively tp to top and don't really make any impact, and in terms of helping snowball/bad matchups i feel like they either know what theyre doing or they dont. on the flipside if you ignore bot lane that is always game ending but it doesnt usually feel the same way for top. im not really saying top is useless or anything just saying that's my experience

It's possible that they picked a top laner for split pushing. (especially if it's Nasus) In which case, their expectation is a little help against their opponent, and they will eventually become an unstoppable threat. (Though it doesn't tend to show in the teamfights)

Also, if your expectation is that the enemy will just TP back to lane, that's probably a good opportunity for a return gank. And if your second gank is successful, they will have to walk back the third time, and your top lane will have free reign on their turret.

Personally, I don't jungle often either. But usually I focus on lanes that can offer the best gank Assist, increasing the odds of the gank getting a kill or something better. But for those champs who's passive farm early with few CC. (Again, Nasus) That's harder to gank for. And if said top lane is already behind, that makes it even tougher to gank if your opponent if fed. (Especially if the enemy Jungler comes to counter gank)

All said and done though, I feel like Bot lane is actually harder to gank for. They will more likely have their entrances covered thanks to the support. And if your own duo lane isn't set to help you, you could get collapsed on 1v2. What I generally see however, is a mid lane snowball, freeing up the mid laner to roam. And only after that, do we get completely stomped in the bottom lane.

You are completely wrong about the Riven match ups btw, she can and is expected to farm, outscale, and outduel everyone you listed except Malphite.

That being said, you're not wrong about people not ganking. Ganks are always helpful, although most of the time I'll call for a gank to either 1) get back even if I'm slightly behind and getting heavily zoned from cs, or 2) to tower dive.

i played jg one game and our nasus was spam pinging top i camped his lane and he died to the garen after i had been to his lane so many times and now i stay away from top lane unless all of the other lanes are pushed up but even then i try to go for a counter-gank mid or bot th

|>ganking for nasus

wat? He should be chilling and farming, he's useless early.

But if you can get a Nasus strong enough that his lane opponent can't deny him stacks...

it only takes a few kills. Well, two, usually.

Kills don't matter on Nasus unless he's fighting someone like Riven and needs armor items. You could be 10-0 on Nasus but if you got 78 stacks at 20 I'm tilting.

No, but you see, having kills usually means you have a gold lead.

Gold leads make you stronger.

Counter to Nasus (for melees anyway) is to shut him down early and don't let him stack on minions. This is done by going aggressive and abusing Nasus's weak early.

Gold lead means Nasus no longer has a weak early (his early is only weak in stats, his trading potential isn't bad, and his dueling isn't either).

No weak early means the enemy no longer has the ability to deny Nasus stacks.

Thus Nasus will get a shit ton of stacks.

Hence my "unless he needs armor items" remark. If it's someone like Darius it's not as bad because true damage.

Wut.

If Nasus has a Phage, and his opponent has a Dshield or Corrupting pot, it doesn't matter who Nasus is fighting. That means free stacks for Nasus.

And it's not always about armor items.

"so he can survive and stack"

You're sending me mixed messages here

Well, surviving isn't actually about taking less damage. When I say survive, I mean Nasus is able to duel the other laner - perhaps by reducing their damage with armor until they do less damage to him than he does to them, but maybe also by amping his own damage so he does more damage than they do.

Yeah but Nasus usually rushes FH for the mana and cdr
